What is your favourite Anime Studio

I get the glaze towards Kyoani but i think Hibiki Euphoneum is a pointless project because of that yuri bait and the Studio wasted years on it. I think Studios' like Lerche, Deen or Diomedea go for more niche and controversial stuff whilest bigger studios usually goes for mainstream genres like shounen/action. This is why i think smaller studios' deserve more love. Yall need to check out Studio lings if you want to see how low budget but passion projects look like.

Ninja and assassin living together was a huge W and madoka magica🙌🏻 But i feel like the monogatari series is a bit of a drag because of the self inserted male characters instead of that series they should have animated more mahou shoujo.

I would definitely recommend shows like Sangatsu no lion, Hidamari Sketch, Natsu No Arashi, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Arakawa Under The Bridge, And Yet The Town Moves. Kubikiri Cycle, Pretty Boy Detective Club, Sasami san ganbaranai. Definitely a variety of protagonists.

It’s a term to describe bland “blank-slate” type characters whose main appeal is for the audience to project themselves onto the character and see themselves in the events of the story

It’s been co-opted to complain about any character you don’t like, such as here, where OP is using it to complain about a series he doesn’t like, as the MC of Monogatari has a very distinct character and self-insert isn’t a term that one would typically use to describe him but some people think it makes them sound smart to complain about things for a “reason” rather than just saying you don’t like something (which is always perfectly fine, you’re allowed to have opinions, you don’t need to make up reasons for them, I think Madoka Magica is dogass and I don’t need to say a reason, it’s just my opinion)

The show is about characters experiencing supernatural phenomena (mainly rooted in Japanese folklore but some are borrowed from other cultures) that are a representation/manifestation of their emotional and mental struggles as they go through adolescence; it’s a rather dialogue-heavy show mainly focused on character interactions so I wouldn’t recommend it if you have trouble keeping up with subtitles, as it can move through sentences fairly quickly (and rewinding to read lines you missed is always a pain)

Anyway, good show, give it a shot if you feel like it

Haha. I watched up to Nekomonogatari White and I am confused why he said Araragi is a self insert. OP seems to mistake the term or he just hates the show for unknown reasons.

Yeah I think Madoka Magica is a bad show and I didn’t like it, but I’m not gonna make up reasons to dislike it - I’ll say my reasons if I’m asked but for a thread like this (which was supposedly about which studios and projects people *like*) I’m not gonna do so unprompted, because that would kill the vibe; and again, I’m not mad, I just think you’re being disingenuous about a show you started insulting (seemingly out of nowhere, they said they liked the studio and you took that opportunity to be negative about what is objectively their most popular and longest running work)

I am not the greatest fan of KyoAni, but I don't know what to say if all you focused in Hibike Euphonium was the alleged Yuri bait and not the nice coming of age story they animated.

But in any case, in my case I like Ghibli the most, followed by Ufotable (mostly for the nostalgia of the Garden of the Sinner movies)

It covers about three years before college, in a time where most adolescent are deciding their future and the struggles that comes with it, and the series does end showing the future Kumiko settled for herself.

Once again, if you do not see the coming-of-age setting, I do not know what else to say.

Ironically all of the ones you named aside from Death Note are considered from their lesser post-2010 years when many of their talents left the company.

That just goes to show the caliber of the studio.

KyoAni deserves all the praise for actually treating its staff well and having a strong in-house culture.

Other than that, I love studios that largely define themselves through the originals they enable (Trigger, P.A.Works, rip 3Hz). Studio 4°C as a bastion for experimental visual styles is quite cool too.

Toei Animation.. okay hear me out, I get that this studio gets a lot of bad reps for some of their bad adaptation of namely One Piece, Dragon Ball and season 1 of World Trigger, and perhaps some might even say Toriko, but looking at their catalogue, they brought us many classic anime such as the 4 series mentioned previously, Slam Dunk, Digimon, Precure, Hokuto no Ken, Sailor Moon, Kindaichi's Case Files, Saint Seiya, Yu-Gi-Oh, Dragon Quest.

They also animated some of the classic shoujo like Hana Yori Dango, Lovely Complex, Marmalade Boy, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, and some other romance anime like Clannad movie, Air movie, Kanon, Kamisama Kazoku.

Some of my favorite underrated anime are also made by them, Kuuchuu Buranko, Mononoke, Ayakashi, Kyousougiga, Air Gear, Asura, Kaidan Restaurant.

Some other series they're responsible for are Girls Band Cry, Ginga Nagareboshi Gin, Interstella5555, Id: Invaded, Ginga Tetsudou 999, Ojamajo Doremi, Gokinjo Monogatari, Uchuu Kaizoku Captain Herlock, Ashita no Nadja, Zatch Bell, Jigoku Sensei Nube, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Angel Densetsu, Aoki Densetsu Shoot, Gegege no Kitarou, Ring ni Kakerou, and they also brought us Seikaisuru Kado, a pretty interesting original series even though it fell apart at the end.

I heard Toei also has a very good reputation among animators, they don't underpay their workers and they don't overwork their workers.

Some of my other favorites are JC Staffs (another controversial one as of late) and Bones.

Bones has historically been my favorite anime studio, and Sunrise, the studio from which its staff originally came from.

Trigger has always been up there for me as well.

Shaft has a lot of good stuff.

And of course pretty much anything KyoAni puts out there looks great.

Hard to choose just one!

KyoAni, their healthy work ethic alone is worthy of a standing ovation for not letting animators starve to death. That they made a single yuribait work doesn't outweigh the fact this and all of their other works have insanely good production values and are very consistent at that.

Speaking of smaller studios: Studio Bind has been doing awesome with their CGDCT the last few years. Onimai and Ruri Rocks take place as some of the best CGDCT ever made.

But none of the studios you mentioned would I consider even close to best studio.

Yaa it was about our personal taste, i like to watch yuri and studio lings only produced yuri so far. Everyone has different tastes but i wanted to raise awareness towards the smaller studios who are doing excellent adaptations because most of them are done with passion and in a more healthy atmosphere.

Yeah but Studio Lings? They have only 2 standalone adaptations, the other two were done a coproduction with Passione. And one of them was a short. And none were spectacular.

I personally like Studio Bind more, they too are a small studio but they have made CGDCT that are universally considered some of the best CGDCT of recent times, easily alongside giants like Bocchi and Yuru Camp.

Bruv Bind is fine too, i consider watatabe the best anime of this year and it's done by lings and the fact that it's their first 24 min anime without help from others only makes it more respectable. Small studios' usually have 1 or 2 chances to produce something and if this fails they may go bankrupt, thus they decide to pour their souls in it. I never really was interested in the industry but seeing how this small fish tries to do something while blessing fans who are excluded from mainstream slop, i finally feel like i have something i need to support.
