Want to see what tankies think about this. Probably something along the lines of "Japan is a US puppet so this is based 😘"

It's unfortunate that, as is usually the case, these things tend to impact the innocent and uninvolved parties, like Japanese artists and creators as well as all the Chinese fans who would normally be able to see and enjoy their work at events like this.
But the political fallout resulting from the newly-elected Japanese PM opening her mouth with bellicose rhetoric aimed at Beijing and stirring tensions pledging military action against China and all that was not exactly some radical shock and could be seen a mile away.
Many governments and their national populations have several hot button sensitive cultural or geopolitical issues that if inflamed by foreigners they will rally around the flag and not take quietly. Even moreso when it's from centuries-long historical rivals for supremacy in their own region with a lot of poison and bad blood in bilateral relations within the last 100 years specifically and memory of some people still living today (or passed down from their parents or grandparents).

Good, get China out of the anime / manga market so series stop being filtered at times to gain approval for the China market.
