Any anime with protagonist like Hinata Shoyo?
What I mean is a character who is hardworking and is trying to beat the odds that have been set against them. But realized through their journey that what they wanted to become isn’t fit to who they are, and find pride in something that is equally as cool and useful. Hinata goes from being set on being the Ace but after a while realizes he’s the ultimate decoy and learns to embrace his role.

In between the dozens of protagonists and the emotional struggles, you might find one tailored to your preferences.
There's the main protagonist. An anime Otaku that wants to join an anime club, only to reluctantly discover via his new peers that he wants to test his physical limits in a new hobby (cycling).
A small red haired protagonist insecure about his height that wants to perform the flashy role of a sprinter (go really really fast), but has to later reconsider and change his trajectory. (Can't say more than that)
A side character (later upgraded to primary character) that has to come to terms with how mediocre, weak, and average he is when trying to compete against cycling demigods.
The anime has comic relief, pathos, music/soundtrack, and even "rule of cool" excitement.
Being as long as it is, with as many characters as it adds, the formula can start to feel repetitive, and the beginning of the anime is really slow, so I regret to admit that it has upfront cost.
Well, I'll take the downvotes and reprimands for not making a perfectly relevant recommendation. It was still worth sharing.
I'm only halfway through the second season of Chihayafuru, but Chihaya has struck me as a very similar take on a shoujosei protagonist than shonen manga have on their underdog spokon leads, Hinata particularly. Though there is more overt romantic teasing and chemistry that will actually lead somewhere in Chihaya's and her male friends' & rivals case than in shounen series like Haikyuu.
