I'm more surprised at it being an OVA lol. We only average like one (non-hentai) OVA per season these days, so opting for that over a movie or proper reboot is pretty bizarre.

I'm cautiously excited. The Bridge of Dreams and Station of Memories OVAs really had such an incredible vibe (which the show dipped into a few times, but not always) that if they're going for that it could be amazing.
Then again, it could be a very lazy nostalgia cash-grab that is just going to sour my nostalgic childhood memories of Minky Momo.

Takeshi Shudō is long deceased but he already has a few posthumous credits on Pokemon (for the movies that remade movies and eps he originally work) and it would be full circle if it was based on a planned, but unrealised, idea of his much like the *Run, Train of Dreams* episode of Minky Momo: Embracing Dreams (great episode even watched stand-alone, [do it now](https://www.crunchyroll.com/watch/G4VUWKZ94/run-train-of-dreams)) was a posthumous credit for Masahisa Ishida (parts of the episode are based on a OVA that was planned but never got made).
There have been Minky Momo things without Shudo's involvement before like the musical (this surprises me as musicals were his passion) and the manga (they feature Momos from other magical lands; something like Mirrorarsa and Leafarsa for the musical and manga, respectively).

I also recommend *Minky Momo in the Bridge Over Dreams*. It's another standalone watch. One of the best anime OVAs I've watched.
