What does anime mean to you?

Christmas is the time of the year of love and self reflection. As the year is ending and i got a little emotional i thought to myself, what did anime give me this year?

Then i thought, what does anime even mean to me?

So question to you guys..What does anime mean to you? What did anime give you in 2025 specifically?

Be it fun or maybe it helped you overcome some hardship in life as in my case.

These thoughts led to doing a video on this topic if anyone is interested, if not its completely ok, still i would love to see if there are other people to whom anime is dear to them, as in my case.

Yes anime can be helpful, as any form of storytelling or hobby. No it's not a replacement for therapy, nor should it be compared to it. If you were bullied it can effect you your entire life and the earlier you start working on that the better, especially if you feel isolated and have no social circle around you. You mentioned how anime can influence us, but in the same way that YYH can influence us, so do the multitude of "I'm a boring guy but all the girls want me" anime, or the "my life sucks, so I'm gonna start from 0 in another world" anime, which can plant some extremely unhealthy ideas.

Also anime is mainstream now, it's rare that you'd be criticised for watching it as we used to be growing up.

I don't understand the question. How can a medium have meaning? How would I know which of the things I like about the anime that I like should be attributed to anime as a medium rather than to those specific works?
