If you want a show with similar levels of hype and great animation by the same studio, check out Full Metal Alchemist
Imaginary-Ninja-53832025-12-24 19:15
Make sure its brotherhood though

I'm disappointed when I see this as an answer. I think 2003 is a much better series to start with. Watching Brotherhood afterwards makes its reveals more satisfying.
GamingwithArlen2025-12-24 19:29
It has a very different feel though. But still a great show to check out.

both fullmetal alchemist 2003 anime and fullmetal alchemist brotherhood anime. i would say start with the first 6 episodes of the 2003 anime, then start brotherhood from episode 1 or 2. both fullmetal alchemist animes are great, FMA 2003 has that nostalgia factor but i just find brotherhood better overall (and is my #1 anime of all time). you could watch both
the 2003 anime came first and caught up with the manga, so the writing team took the story in a direction they thought it was going, with permission from the original manga writer/author, and it goes in a completely different direction.
brotherhood follows the story of the manga faithfully. episode 1 of the brotherhood manga was made for the anime, so you could just start at episode 2 of brotherhood
but since brotherhood came out years later they kind of rush through some of the first chapters, which the 2003 anime does not, so you kind of miss a few things.

>the 2003 anime came first and caught up with the manga
They created the 51 episodes series using the manga as a blue print for their own story. There is a misconception that it "caught up" to the manga. They knew going into it that the story was no where near finished. Not only did the author give them permission to change the story. She specifically told them to do their own thing. The first episode alone has foreshadowing to 2003's later reveals.
2003 is past tense focused. Brotherhood is future tense. If Brotherhoods message about striving for a better tomorrow. 2003's is about struggling to overcome the burden of the past. Which is why many say that 2003 starts better because 2003 is more character focused whereas Brotherhood is more plot focused.

Series mixing doesn’t really work. I would recommend watching 2003 in its entirety and then watching brotherhood in its entirety

rayquazza742025-12-24 23:50
So worth it! I held off on it for a very long time and once I got to around alabasta it gets really good and now I love the show and watched 1,000 eps in like 4 months. Soo good.
Extreme-Sun-59932025-12-25 00:00
i respect the grind
Marauder_1272025-12-24 23:08
MHA was my first anime as well!!
I really love the youthful energy in it.
I would recommend demon slayer. Though some might consider it overrated or a tad bit boring at the start but it picks up its pace and is really good action wise, emotionally and has a certain youthfulness to it due to the young characters.
Another one I would recommend is gachiakuta. Season 1 is released this year so easier to catch up and the main character is kind of like a kid/teenager with a lot of cool characters. Good storyline so far and I love the styling of each character has a few humourous elements too.
Extreme-Sun-59932025-12-24 23:19
if you liked MHA i would recommend Naruto, One Piece, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, Black Clover, and JJK. if you want to try something new i would highly recommend Dr. Stone

Watch Made in Abyss, it's a very heartwarming and light hearted anime.
