Top Tier Anime recommendations that are lowkey unheard of?

My boyfriend is an anime goon. I just want for one day to turn on some anime and him to walk into the room watching all interested wanting to know what im watching. If it helps, he told me that he chooses his anime’s off of edits that he sees online. Here is a VERY brief list of what hes seen so far.
-Naruto
-Gangsta (my personal favorite #1)
-Assassination Classroom (my personal favorite #2)
-Plunderer
-Bungo Stray Dogs
-Fairy Tail
-Akame Ga Kill

I can’t speak personally for its quality, but The Elusive Samurai is by the original manga artist of Assassination Classroom and seems to be highly regarded

As for a recommendation you’re unlikely to hear anywhere else, I’d strongly recommend Gunbuster

Rewatched Baccano last week. Man, such a good show, it respects intelligent viewer who can follow three timelines at once. The only downside is often there's just too much chatter that goes on far too long and isn't interesting.

It's in the top 500 members wise on mal, with half a million users, it's hardly that niche. Definitely should have a bigger audience, but I feel like most anime fans that watch anything other than just the currently popular shounen + romance shows at least know it, or would recognise it.

It feels pretty similar to black lagoon but seems to be way less mentioned. Good action scenes that feel pretty much like western cinema shootouts, a big cast and diverse locations. Also a good soundtrack

I even like it better in some respects (compared to Black Lagoon) and worse in others. Feels like the characters with the possible exception of Koko herself are a little more underdeveloped.

But instead of being more of a crime drama dealing with explicitly criminal organizations, I like the slightly different focus on the military and international geopolitical side of arms dealers, paramilitaries and PMCs vs. intelligence agencies.

* Drifters - What if figures from history had to fight maybe Jesus because he and Hitler became the Demon King

* Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! - Cute idiots being cute idiots

* Jormungand - It was pretty popular for a while, but isn't talked about much now. Anime Lord of War with kick ass fight scenes and some of the best characters. Up there with Black Lagoon.

* Bodacious Space Pirates - Whatever you think it is, it's really not. Stupidly fun and very goofy.

* Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu - Spinoff series about the goofy shit that happens when a Child Soldier indoctrinated to war has to go to a Japanese highschool. The Rugby and Hotsprings episodes are all time classics, and the Pandemic episode is one of the best.

* XXXHolic - Clamp at their best, absolutely beautiful and tragic, some people are annoying but overall the story is wonderful.

* Paripi Kongmin - A seasonal anime that kinda vanished but was fun as hell. Chinese 3 Kingdoms strategist gets transported to modern day and decides to use his talents to make a pop-star

* Death Parade - It was more popular back in the day, still gets talked about, but is very worth watching. Madhouse Masterpiece. What happens when a soul has to be decided where it goes after death, and what your actions in life have earned you.

* Ore Monogatari (Our Love Story) - Cute Romcom, one of the perpetuators of ye olde Hamster Banana trope.

* Somali and the Forest Spirit - Absolutely slept on, fantastic worldbuilding. A golem is protecting a human child in a world run by demons. The stakes are real and the art is gorgeous.

* Meet Me At The Ballpark - A vignette show about baseball. It is way better than you would ever expect it to be, and has some wonderful female leads.

The list is endless, there's a ton of shows worth watching. Hope you guys have fun!

Detroit Metal City - MC wanted to be in a Japanese swedish indie pop band, accidentally auditioned for a KISS-like death metal band. Older anime. Comedy/music genre. Funniest shit I've ever seen.

Arslan Sekai - war anime that focuses on Total War -like troop warfare.

Juni Taisen: Zodiac War - is like Hunger Games type battle royale, featuring 12 assassins representing the 12 Asian zodiac signs, trying to kill each other and be the last one standing. Lots of plot twists.

Voices From a Distant Star - this a short one, only about 45 minutes long if I remember correctly. A short story about romance when relativity from space travel is a bitch and time is a thief. Punches you in the feels.

The Fated Magical Princess: Who Made me A Princess. Recently saw this one. Really came at me from the left field and blindsided me. Literally every episode is a tear jerker, and I don't cry easy.
