Saitama finally remembered he is the main character.
Source:
https://onepunchman-anime.net/story/#/season3/36
Synopsis:
While the S-class heroes engage in a fierce battle with the monsters, Tatsumaki arrives at Gyoro Gyoro's location, and a psychic battle is about to begin. Then, the ultimate life form, Monster King Orochi, finally appears before Saitama!
Corrected Google Translation because it kinda butchered it.
PointPrimary58862025-12-25 04:24
>Saitama finally remembered he is the main character.
That applies to virtually every single conflict in this story. The concept is about a MC who is so OP, he defeats virtually all enemies with ease. To create tension, they have to build it up by having fights with characters who the audience probably won't give too many shits about since they are all weaker to Saitama. Once Saitama does do something against the enemy that many characters were struggling against prior, he does it usually with one hit, so that ecstasy the audience get for wanting to see Saitama do something really last less than a second.
frmthefuture2025-12-25 05:13
Or the premise: what if Superman was just lazy and uninspired?
S3 has been a huge let down. So much, that I think it's caused fans to be distracted from the author's meta joke: Yes, Saitama's the mc for this manga / story. But within this story's world, he isn't. WE know he is but his supporting cast does not.
Genos 100% knows. As does King and Silverfang. But to the other 98% [at this point in the story], he is not.
mightyenan02025-12-25 05:31
The problem with that is any tension built up just doesn't matter because you know Saitama exists. You can kinda do it once and get away with it; they already did that with Mumen Rider. They also already did the "will this guy actually be a challenge for Saitama" with Boros.
This premise just doesn't do well stretched out. Saitama *could* have room to grow - King telling him there's more to being a hero than the fighting in season 2 was a good example - but the writer doesn't seem all too interested in that, or wants to do it piecemeal.
PointPrimary58862025-12-25 06:04
Admittedly everything you said pretty much sums up why I ended up getting bored with this manga. Saitama being blasé toward everything retroactively made all the other characters feel uninteresting. Like, I don't even give a damn about Genos motivation and backstory, which then makes me not care about the other characters like Flashy Flashy and Speed O Sound Sonic. Initally, I was expecting Blast to be in a similar position as Saitama due to all the mystery that he had, believing he was probably another OP character that got bored with everything and just stayed away from it all. Turns out he's just some dude with Gravity abilities, which ends up being unimpressive in context of the nature of this series having a character like Saitama.
KARSbenicillin2025-12-25 06:12
Eh sort of. Mob Pyscho 100 (same author as OPM for those who didn't know) also has unquestionably the character as the MC and it's one of the best stories about character growth and development in all of anime/manga. OPM unfortunately didn't get the same treatment, and the whole thing with constant re-writes from Murata made it worse.
I think the bigger problem though is that OPM completely jumps the shark in this arc with the power scaling and the story gets completely written into a corner. In addition to everything that made S1 go well, part of its success is *because* it didn't rely on the typical shounen powerscaling to write a good story. It's the same reason why MP100 was so good. But then yea, OPM went further down the shounen route and now we're here.
AmeerFarooq2025-12-25 04:05
Im here before the comments.
TheChickenIsFkinRaw2025-12-25 04:09
I'm here for the CGs. One punch man 3 is really one of the best visual novels of all time. It has so many static CGs to accompany all the dialogue, heck sometimes they're even animated
Careful_Ad_90772025-12-25 04:17
It's like muvluv again, I think they call them kinetic novels.
DarkJayBR2025-12-25 04:32
One Punch Man is the best kinect visual novel on the market.
11equalsfish2025-12-25 05:00
Well, good visual novels have great art, interesting writing, intentional and artful compositions, the high budget ones have animation. They are high quality, unlike Season 3.
ryan203402025-12-25 04:05
So as someone who dropped it after the first episode of this season. Is it worth it to pick it back up?
Long-Boysenberry93572025-12-25 04:08
lolno
Anabiter2025-12-25 04:10
not really, just read the manga or webcomic if you're interested at this point.
QuadraKev_2025-12-25 04:47
Flipping through pages = more frames than the show
AlbedosThighs2025-12-25 07:05
tbh some of the fights in the manga are fucking insane. Genuinely better than a lot of anime fights lol murata is a beast
Sierada2025-12-25 08:43
The manga goes hard af. Also Murata gives wonderful cover arts.
UnquestionabIe2025-12-25 16:36
Even the stuff that the anime has adapted in season 2 (haven't bothered with season 3 yet, maybe one day ) there are fights which I didn't realize were actually epic and bad ass until I read the manga. It's legit night and day and Murata is absolutely incredible.
bbkkoommaacchhii2025-12-25 15:12
crazy strategy, make the anime adaptation so bad that everyone starts buying the manga
CharlesEverettDekker2025-12-25 04:10
It gets worse
Noli_de_Nolan2025-12-25 05:22
Nah, you forgot episode 8 and 9 and 11??!?
Mataraiki2025-12-25 05:30
That’s…. Actually disappointingly impressive.
awesomenessofme12025-12-25 04:12
Maybe it gets worse later, but as of episode 4, I really feel like it's an overreaction. There was one genuinely abysmal shot (the infamous hill slide), but overall it's just below average but not terrible. And it is animated.
Mean_Muffin1612025-12-25 04:23
I don’t find below average to be acceptable.
awesomenessofme12025-12-25 04:29
And that's fine. It's an extremely successful franchise, and it's reasonable to have higher standards for it. But the level of vitriol people have for it, and some of the specific criticisms, don't really ring true for me.
Mean_Muffin1612025-12-25 04:31
I’m with you there. Bitching the whole season is ridiculous. If you son’t like it then stop watching and stop taking about it. I dropped that shit after 3 episodes. Was so excited too.
Controller_Maniac2025-12-25 04:57
nuh uh, imma keep bitching about it till the day it gets a remake
Veshyboy2025-12-25 04:24
"Animated"
dude, flipping through the manga pages has more animation then the anime.
and the prolem isn't just the animation, it's everything else as well.
Chopped images that show bad png, half of the episodes having padded filler times just toe xtend the run time, filters added on top of good-looking scenes. Using the non-canon version of a storyline over the final one etc.
the only good episode after episode 4 is 8 aside from that every episode so far has been worse than the first 5
awesomenessofme12025-12-25 04:34
Like I said, I can only speak for what I've seen so far. And so far the animation is mediocre but fine. To be perfectly honest, I want the last episode of the main subbed version to come out so I can just watch the rest of the season and judge it for myself without constantly hearing people shout about it.
Controller_Maniac2025-12-25 04:58
you are probably the same guy that said a human eye can only see a maximum of 30fps
DemonSlyr0072025-12-25 05:19
Genuinely, some people just do not care one bit about frames. This always seems to be an unthinkable thing to people that care a lot about graphics and frames.
Personally, frames are nice but I really dont care if shows "look like slideshows" like bluelock if I like whats going on. Which i did for that anime. That does not mean I wont acknowledge when shows look like that, but it is not even remotely a reason to stop watching a show to me.
Controller_Maniac2025-12-25 05:29
you know what? Kudos to you for being able to sit through animation like that, I get hurt when I see a high potential series get a shit adaptation
Eric9882025-12-25 04:23
I think part of what is making it so bad is the expectation people had, yes it’s bad, but it feels worse because of the long wait and the hope people had for it. Saitama hasn’t even really been part of the season. If I had one word to describe this season it would be disappointing.
Adaphion2025-12-25 05:59
We weren't expecting the world. S1 was lightning in a bottle because of Madhouse.
But S2 wasn't absolutely awful like people made it out to be at the time, it was pretty good even. Just not as good as S1.
But this shit? It's fucking unacceptable.
RecordingHaunting9752025-12-25 06:37
S2 isn't any worse than 90% of the slop that gets posted to anime subreddits or even most episodes of beloved 2000s Shonen. It's mid and that's OK coz its still fun
S3 is unbelievably bad. Literally just one frame drawn -> pan shot -> animate lips when needed.
Omgninjas2025-12-25 04:25
Yeah. It's not the worst animation ever, but damn does it lack finesse and detail. If you go in expecting budget animation you'll be pleasantly surprised in later episodes, and whelmed everywhere else.
mrsirgrape2025-12-25 06:18
It's not the worst animation ever, but I struggle to think of a series as popular as this, that historically looked great, that now looks as bad as this, other than 7 Deadly Sins.
Omgninjas2025-12-25 06:32
Berserk season 2 that came out a few years ago was worse... Dear God that was BAD. I had honestly forgotten about that until now.
kamikazikyle2025-12-25 07:27
terraformars also got fucked they completely change the animation style for season 2 and it just didnt work at all completely killed it for me
rumblevn2025-12-25 04:25
let the anime play in the background to hear the sound while you read the manga, it have more frame
ARandomGamer562025-12-25 04:28
Absolutely not
duosx2025-12-25 05:36
Ok thanks
Controller_Maniac2025-12-25 04:57

darkzero092025-12-25 10:05
just wait for the fan made. the only good episode is flashy flash's fight. i think it is episode 8. then it became horrible again.
SanchitoBandito2025-12-25 04:07
Did they ever touch up season 2? And if they touched it up nice enough, is S3 as salvagable as that?

Yup, I have never seen such hackneyed, atrocious animation in my life. fucking paint.exe png moving.
Edit: guys, I haven't actually seen it... I'm ragebaiting... I'm so sorry.. I've been feeling the Christmas spirit tonight and I decided I should come clean about it. My new years resolution is gonna be to stop rage baiting people on Reddit, I promise. Starting tomorrow I will be a better man
Noli_de_Nolan2025-12-25 05:21
Episode 8 and 9 has good animations 🤦
xbbdc2025-12-25 07:07
considering how shit the episodes are, its a stretch about 8/9 and it wasn't the whole episodes either.
Beautiful_Breath_7542025-12-25 07:24
Bro didn't you get balled on your own post saying that.
PatientNo17102025-12-25 05:27
There are countless of anime’s that are as bad, Watch berserk 2016, blue lock season 2, tbbte (worst then opm season 3 by a lot actually) and more… while I agree it’s one of the worst there are easily ones that are even worse considering this had at least 2 solid episodes
Lavatis2025-12-25 05:41
this is such cope
PatientNo17102025-12-25 05:43
I literally said it’s one of the worst animated anime’s ever what are you talking about
PassionateYak2025-12-25 09:54
The difference is that OPM Season 1 was one of the greatest Seasons in TV history (it was literally ranked on top #250 shows in IMDB).
The steep drop off in Season 2 /3 is unprecedented, practically a different show all together.
thoughtlow2025-12-25 10:53
tbh in the end blue lock season 2 was pretty decent all things considered, shined on the moments it needed to shine.
PatientNo17102025-12-25 15:26
Yea that’s why I would say it’s better then opm season 3 but apart from the last episode and some specific scenes it was as horrible
jjw19982025-12-25 10:55
Blue Lock S2 was bad but not this bad
ligital2025-12-25 05:53

Good riddance, paying $85 after tip on a table for 2 is fucking nonsense, why the fuck is a salmon plate $27?
Alright, that Orochi drawing is really gnarly. Nice to see some visual oomph at the end.
NecroCannon2025-12-25 04:25
I hope they decided to at least end off with a bang because if they don’t, this shit is gonna stick with JC Staff forever
YoloJoloHobo2025-12-25 07:23
I mean, it already will. They'll probably be the new Studio Deen in terms of common reputation
NecroCannon2025-12-25 07:41
Man have they ever recovered after SDS? They even lost Konosuba
Dernoob10002025-12-25 10:36
It is ironic that J.C. Staff produced the Konosuba Movie.
Dylangillian2025-12-25 23:46
Thing is, JC Staff can make good stuff. Even in this season they had a good looking anime airing. The fault here mostly lies with Bamco for giving them fuck all to work with.
ThatBoiUnknown2025-12-25 04:13
I wish anime studios would go back and redo messed up seasons/episodes of some animes but sadly once they're done they're done 💔💔

Surely they got the most time to work on the final episode of this season, right? They better not disappoint us. It was a disappointing run overall, but it has 2 decent episodes and I hope this one is decent as well. It was one hard journey, these last 3 months..
JBThunder2025-12-25 04:28
So in other words everything happens in one episode at best...

Ngl I thought the base artstyle was MUCH better than it was in S2. S2, imo, was horrendously ugly. Ik the One Still Man memes but on its own I think S3 looks good honestly, animation aside.
Waiting404Godot2025-12-25 04:40
I’m going to say the line!
Baby-Admin2025-12-25 04:44
What do you all think about the season so far? I feel like they should have taken notes from Chainsaw Man, and perhaps make this Arc a movie instead.
monkey_D_v11992025-12-25 04:44
One Punch Man didn’t deserve the kind of anime adaptation it got.
Silver_Middle97962025-12-25 06:54
I just don’t understand her how this even happened? Like it’s one of the best and most popular mangas out there.
TheHowlingHashira2025-12-25 08:27
Especially after how well animated season 1 was. Also Mob Psycho had really good animation too. Like, the fuck happened.
GhostZee2025-12-25 09:02
First season was by Madhouse with many talented Artist coming together to make it. Then for second season, JC Staff happened, and the rest is history...
yolo-yoshi2025-12-25 16:10
People need to remember it’s not as simple as that. There has to be an opening (like an appointment) in which to animate it. Even the most popular manga does t get special dibs. And that’s just one thing.
UnquestionabIe2025-12-25 16:38
Mob Psycho is something that took me completely off guard. Enjoyed the story in One Punch Man so had it recommended to me, watched the first season shortly after it aired and was impressed but season 2 was incredible. Still have yet to watch season 3, as it felt things were wrapped up neatly enough already so wasn't craving more, but I'm sure in time I'll check it out.
Ordinal43NotFound2025-12-25 09:10
>Like it’s one of the best and most popular mangas out there.
Maybe this is precisely why. Bandai Namco, the IP owners, thought they could just coast on the series popularity and hand the IP over to the lowest bidder (in this case J.C. Staff).
Another speculation is that this anime is supposed to help funnel people into the gacha game, One Punch Man World. But with how that game likely underperformed, the anime was treated as a sunk cost
Not_Shingen2025-12-25 11:43
JC Staff are average at the best of times plus apparently the schedule for this show was very short
Competitive-Ice16902025-12-25 14:14
Exactly that is the part where I’m having problems. They had 2/3 years of time to take it nice and slow.
Hash out the talents and schedules, I certainly did not expect s1 quality cause I have seen some of JC staffs best works Danmachi. Which gives me an idea of what quality I can expect.
Yet the horrible time management and investment in this show feels like a slap to our face here 🥹.
Drayenn2025-12-25 14:47
Higher ups didnt give a damn. Odds are the show is extremely profitable. Super popular + really low production costs...
detarameReddit2025-12-25 11:00

**To be honest, the animation in the third season of One Punch Man has far exceeded my expectations.**

People clowned on Frame Lock s2, but if nothing else at least the final couple episodes redeemed the season for me. This unfortunately looks like more of the same.. 😮💨

Peak season

the problem with opm s3 isnt the animation. its the full lack of omp himself.
I dont care how starglitter unicorn and pants boy fight versus the monsters ugly fat dude and ugly skinny dude
I WANT TO SEE OPM
you cant expect us to be invested in the story and care for s rank heros you know for 2 minutes. I dont give a fuck if they are shredded to pieces or are set on fire. i dont know them

problem with saitama is that he'd end the fight immediately. from what i can piece together, the conflict this arc is about garou's humanity. saitama already unknowingly crushed him casually last season. the rest is world building.
Desperate_Method40202025-12-25 13:30
I get you, but it's hard to build tension & suspense for a gag character like this. That's why S1 works so goddamn well as a pretty self contained story.
Ok-Analysis-39022025-12-25 09:55
This show deserved better

Screw Bandai Namco.
Other projects by JC Staff are animated well, because they got the proper time to do it.
Blame Bandai Namco for giving the studio such a short time to animate the series.

Don't like this season. Not because of the art or so so animations what a lot of people complain about. But there's hardly any scenes with Saitama. It's called One Punch Man and yet the One Punch Man is hardly in it. 😱
Background_Rule_24832025-12-25 11:16
It's become a running joke at this point, but honestly, seeing these stills just makes me wish the animation itself had more consistent energy. The season had its moments, but the finale previews really highlight the gap between the amazing source material and the final product. What a disappointing way to end this arc.

Finally this embarrassment will be gone.
Yorrins2025-12-25 13:14
Thank god its almost over.
Dense_Union60062025-12-25 15:58
Wow this season has done nothing and now it’s over.

I wish I lived in the timeline where each season of OPM was up to the same quality of our S1

This premise just doesn't do well stretched out. Saitama *could* have room to grow - King telling him there's more to being a hero than the fighting in season 2 was a good example - but the writer doesn't seem all too interested in that, or wants to do it piecemeal.
But then yea, OPM went further down the shounen route and now we're here.
dude, flipping through the manga pages has more animation then the anime.
and the prolem isn't just the animation, it's everything else as well.
Chopped images that show bad png, half of the episodes having padded filler times just toe xtend the run time, filters added on top of good-looking scenes. Using the non-canon version of a storyline over the final one etc.
the only good episode after episode 4 is 8 aside from that every episode so far has been worse than the first 5
Personally, frames are nice but I really dont care if shows "look like slideshows" like bluelock if I like whats going on. Which i did for that anime. That does not mean I wont acknowledge when shows look like that, but it is not even remotely a reason to stop watching a show to me.
But S2 wasn't absolutely awful like people made it out to be at the time, it was pretty good even. Just not as good as S1.
But this shit? It's fucking unacceptable.
S3 is unbelievably bad. Literally just one frame drawn -> pan shot -> animate lips when needed.
Live reaction of the production studio when they were told they got the job to animate One Punch Man season 3
Edit: guys, I haven't actually seen it... I'm ragebaiting... I'm so sorry.. I've been feeling the Christmas spirit tonight and I decided I should come clean about it. My new years resolution is gonna be to stop rage baiting people on Reddit, I promise. Starting tomorrow I will be a better man
The steep drop off in Season 2 /3 is unprecedented, practically a different show all together.
Good riddance, paying $85 after tip on a table for 2 is fucking nonsense, why the fuck is a salmon plate $27?
You...can't....post...the...entire...episode.......

Hash out the talents and schedules, I certainly did not expect s1 quality cause I have seen some of JC staffs best works Danmachi. Which gives me an idea of what quality I can expect.
Yet the horrible time management and investment in this show feels like a slap to our face here 🥹.
