may I request some anime suggestions 🥹

so, I’ve been a casual anime watcher for a while now, but I’ve really been getting into it this winter break.

I really, really, really liked Death Note, Code Geass, and AOT. JJK, Hell’s Paradise, CSM, and Demon Slayer was also pretty good imo.

But there’s still another week left of my break and idk what to do with myself now after watching so many peak shows in a single week 🤧 any recs similar to ones listed above would be greatly appreciated!! also merry christmas everybody 💕

Hi Due-Recognition-8327, it seems like you might be looking for new anime to watch!

The users of this subreddit came up with [a chart of anime recommendations for newcomers and veterans](https://i.redd.it/0w1v880jtq661.png) and [an awesome longer flowchart](https://i.redd.it/vdzlkodz19c71.png). Maybe you can find something there that you'll like \^.\^

Try neon Genesis Evangelion and One Punch man and Bleach and Berserk and Dragon ball. They are pretty good.

Due-Recognition-83272025-12-26 04:54

Tysm! I’ll check them all out ❤️‍🩹

GenghisKhan902102025-12-26 05:43

Honestly those are not the starter recs I'd go with.

NGE for a casual watcher is either 120/100 best thing I've ever seen by a long shot, 70/100 most mid shit of all time, or 0/100 nonsense with weird undertones.

Dragon ball is... Old, but influential.

Bleach is a good start rec though. Less old, also influential. Good place to discover where modern shounen learned how to be cool.

Beserk is random AF idk if they mean the OVA or the recent series but both are criminally incomplete versions of the already incomplete greatest manga of all time.

My starter rec: what are your interests? Hobbies? Passions? What subjects interested you the most in school? You should branch out of shounen and those questions should be your guide.

Spice and wolf for a sassy female character with a plot revolving around trade. Legend of the galactic heroes for a work of epic political theory in the form of a space opera. Kids on the slope and blue giant for jazz. Your lie in April, nodame cantabile for classical + some loving. Euphonium anime for band kids. Sports anime are a whole thing unto themselves, haikyuu, Yuri on Ice, slam dunk, Kuroko no basket, the three boxing anime that are legendary, and above all chihayafuru, but also if you have ever played soccer blue lock will make you want to gouge your eyes out. March comes in like a lion is about shogi which is close to chess and also has the greatest destroyed soul being warmed up by the beauty of kind people plot you'll ever experience. Moriarty the patriot for Victorian England + mystery lovers. Golden Kamuy, Vinland saga for history nerds. Too many types of sci fi to name. Mech, psychological, post-apocolyptic, aimed at adults, aimed at kids, suffuse with philosophy, suffuse with magical realism, robot souls, robot slaves, robot people, gritty, utopian, intra galactic and inter galactic and no space involved to begin with, and everything in between.

Well, you get my point.

That said FMAB is legendary and impossible to dislike.
HunterxHunter is similarly legendary but, for some, has some MAJOR pacing issues.
Frieren fails to hit the peaks of either while offering the best vibes of the them all. Also there's only one season so far.

Extreme-Sun-59932025-12-26 04:51

may i suggest FMAB (MUST BE BROTHERHOOD), Dr. Stone, and Naruto also merry christmas

Due-Recognition-83272025-12-26 04:53

Extreme-Sun-59932025-12-26 04:55

shonkshonkshonk2025-12-26 04:57

Extreme-Sun-59932025-12-26 04:58

Good suggestion

developed-creature2025-12-26 04:59

watch legend of galactic heroes, it’s so great and peak that I have no enough words to express, u can also check one punch man, and psycho pass. If u want to laugh watch grand blue and asobi asobse

dontcallmebaka2025-12-26 05:04

I second grand blue dreaming, esp if you like college humor.

Due-Recognition-83272025-12-26 05:10

winter has made me a bit depressed so I’ll watch those to raise my spirits for the last week of break then! Ty:)

developed-creature2025-12-26 06:08

Have fun!

dontcallmebaka2025-12-26 05:02

Bro, please watch Hunter x Hunter!!!

Osaragi222025-12-26 05:07

PEAK

Due-Recognition-83272025-12-26 05:08

I’ve only seen these horribly out-of-context (at least, i hope it’s better in context 😭) hisoka tiktok edits for hunter x hunter, I’m ngl it’s got me interested XD i will def check it out tho, ty!

mangotango1372025-12-26 05:04

Delicious in Dungeon is always a good recommendation. If it shounen like JJK, AOT, or death note etc then One piece is always an option but you are NOT going to be catching up anywhere near that in 1 week. Even if you watch 24 hours straight the entire time

Due-Recognition-83272025-12-26 05:06

thank you, i will check that out! I’ve also been meaning to watch one piece but it’s so long, maybe after i graduate 🤧

bbzef2025-12-26 05:10

GURREN LAGANN

Due-Recognition-83272025-12-26 05:13

I’ve heard that title a lot in the code geass sub! I quite liked code geass, so I hope I’ll enjoy that one too, ty for the rec!

bbzef2025-12-26 05:35

it's one of the greatest animes of all time

Trfe2025-12-26 05:11

If you like code geass you’ll probably like anything. 😂

Due-Recognition-83272025-12-26 05:13

what is that supposed to mean 🥲

DaveTheNihilist2025-12-26 05:34

Black Lagoon. Same voice actor as Light from Death Note too.

Due-Recognition-83272025-12-26 05:38

I just looked it up and it sounds really interesting! Tysm for the rec

Astroshishir962025-12-26 06:04

Grand Blue

CertifiedPluviophile2025-12-26 06:48

MONSTER!!! Monster is a great anime and lots of the show’s aspects are similar to Death Note if I recall correctly

kjloltoborami2025-12-26 09:56

Something you can watch in less then 10 days, uhhhh

Try black lagoon or cyberpunk edgerunners
