Somehow I never knew Japan has a real Detective Conan town
I always assumed this was some fan rumor, but it turns out there is a real town in Japan dedicated to Detective Conan.
It is called Hokuei, where the creator grew up. The train station, statues, streets, even manhole covers are Conan-themed. What surprised me most is that it is not touristy at all. It is just a normal small town where Conan happens to be everywhere.

It was calculated that Beika-Cho had a murder rate of 1490 per 100k residents. or 6000 times worse than the Japanese national average, and 30 times worse than Venezuela, which had the worst murder rate in 2022.

As an aside, famous mangas having towns associated with them going all out in embracing the manga isn't uncommon. Kochikame takes place in Kameari (a neighborhood of Tokyo) and they have a ton of Kochikame related stuff around the train station and around town.

Yeah, I think only those die-hard fans will visit and I observed during my trip was that most of the visitors are Japanese. I find it very sweet that this is how Aoyama Gosho's contributed back to his hometown's economy.
I was skeptical but getting away from the typical touristy spots from Japan was so much fun.
I plan to visit Conan Town in future too.
