Claymore
Grancrest Senki
Arslan Senki
Kenpuu Denki Berserk
Beast player Erin
1. Twelve Kingdoms
1. Moribito Spirit Guardian
1. Beast Player Erin
This normal guy gets turned into an immortal zombie whose soul is bound to a bipolar girl from the Himalayas. Half the time she is real cute ditzy girl but the other half she is a 3 eyed ancient goddess who is super serious. The dude's body gets destroyed so many different ways but always gets reconstituted. Similar to Alicia and Clevatess's relationship.
Set in the distant future, where the human race is on the verge of decline. People live on the periphery of the world in a pre-modern, France-like culture, raising grapes and making wine, in constant fear of toxic air and roaming herds of giantic insects.
Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise
A fantastical reimagining of humanity’s first attempt to reach space. Every element of the world is painstakingly rebuilt from the ground up, from cityscapes and currency to trains, aircraft, and religion, creating a self-contained civilization that feels lived-in, coherent, and quietly monumental.
Magatsu Wahrheit Z
A bleak fantasy set in a world rotting from within, where monsters born from corruption plague society. What begins as a small story about random and bad choices gradually expands into political intrigue, military power struggles, and the crushing weight of systems that grind individuals down. Gritty, grounded, and unapologetically grim, it treats fantasy less as escapism and more as a mirror of societal decay.
Shokoku no Altair (Altair: A Record of Battles)
Similar to Arslan Senki, set on a Middle East–inspired continent, the exiled prince travels across the land, using his intellect to the fullest, relying on strategy and diplomacy to build alliances while facing rival generals within his own ranks and neighboring empires slowly creeping in.
Zenshu.
Technically an isekai, following a modern animation director sent to another world, but it stands apart. The romance works, the drama holds, and above all it captures a genuinely otherworldly atmosphere that most 21st-century fantasy/isekai anime completely fail to achieve.
