> *"A Livid Lady's Guide to Getting Even: How I Crushed My Homeland with My Mighty Grimoires"* is a fantasy tale about Elizabeth, the daughter of a duke, who seeks revenge against those who betrayed her by wielding the most powerful grimoires. On the night of the kingdom's founding anniversary celebration, Elizabeth is abruptly abandoned by her fiancé, the crown prince, and immediately imprisoned. Betrayed by the homeland to which she had devoted everything, Elizabeth obtains a formidable artifact, the Seven Grimoires, and resolves to flee into exile. With the help of Lucas, a viscount from a neighboring country, she begins a new life and establishes a merchant company, steadily preparing for her revenge against her homeland.
PM_ME_AWESOME_SONGS2025-12-26 11:26
Why are they always related to dukes? Never any other noble class, it's always dukes, or am I just biased by what I've watched?
TheMechanic042025-12-26 12:02
Because a duke is the highest of nobility aside from the monarchy. Anything lower wouldn't make sense plot wise for why she was engaged to the crown prince
Toloran2025-12-26 15:38
And that's how you get inbreeding since, often, Dukes are branch families of the Royal family. Dukes are basically back-up royalty.
fer_sure2025-12-26 17:11
They don't actually use the word 'Duke' or other European titles in Japanese. I think it's the closest English equivalent (highest rank below royal family) that the translators use.
(It's also a title given to members of the royal family in England e.g. Harry, the Duke of Sussex would probably be referred to as the "second prince" in an anime. They're specifically referred to as "Royal Dukes")
In the UK, there are around 30 dukes total, 5 of whom are Royal Dukes.
[Wiki](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dukes_in_the_United_Kingdom)
SnooWalruses20852025-12-26 17:31
Also there's the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
fer_sure2025-12-26 18:31
Huh. I wonder if translators use different titles for nobility in other languages. Maybe "How Railiana Ended Up at the Grand Duke's Mansion" in Luxembourgish and German?
SnooWalruses20852025-12-26 18:36
I don't know. In general fantasy settings in Japanese Light Novel use european middle-age. It's quite rare they use their own stories.
Also it's not an translation error or adaptation, Elizabeth says in the trailer she's the duke's daughter in Japanese.
Hot-Priority-50722025-12-29 16:54
Kuge from Kazoku system, most likely referred to Duke. Thd kanji used is very close to the meaning. Japanese constitution imported european noble system. Noble titles could be assigned to former warlords, king's relatives, and war heoes.
Fulminatus3142025-12-26 19:34
Duke also just sounds cool
Azaze6662025-12-26 22:56
You are not
Aerodynamic412025-12-26 11:31
Ah, classic villainess setup.
LolziMcLol2025-12-26 11:49

zadcap2025-12-26 13:06
> With the help of Lucas, a viscount from a neighboring country, she begins a new life and establishes a merchant company, steadily preparing for her revenge against her homeland.
Wait, no, go back to the revenge part. Don't set up a company and play around in politics, I want to actually see the revenge happen.
HirokoKueh2025-12-26 13:28
why they always need a man
zadcap2025-12-26 13:30
Every single time. Expect the rare few times it's another woman. Either way, always a romance getting in the way of the revenge...
Arakawa-Hikaru-Gero2025-12-26 17:25
I just got an otome game (so literally focused on romance!) that still gives you the option to commit fully to the revenge instead of the romance lol. We gotta let these girls get their revenge
porpoiseoflife2025-12-26 18:22
You had my interest, but now you have my attention.
Arakawa-Hikaru-Gero2025-12-27 03:34
Ok I haven't started it yet (Christmas gift) so it may be less than it promised! But it's Mistonia's Hope! The description said you can get your revenge 🤞
BosuW2025-12-26 18:05
Well I know a webtoon where while the is romance the villainess protagonist is really steadfast on her own and yet whenever she's being y'know VILLANOUS there's always some negative reactions to that in the comments maybe that's why, the romance audience has the lowest tolerance for spice possible
zadcap2025-12-26 23:19
It kills me that you had down votes for this, just proving you right.
I think my favorite villainess is still Hourglass. Still has romance, but that girl is very much a villainess out for revenge.
SnooWalruses20852025-12-26 18:17
There's no romance in this series. It touches multiple genres (adventures, merchant, girl power, overpowered MC, revenge...), but romance is not one of them.
HugeRichard112025-12-26 13:32
Sounds like it's going be a rather slow burn with the premise. Along with the PV didn't show much happening. Merchant doesn't really sound aggressive enough.
heimdal772025-12-26 13:49
Ya this description is very deceiving.
Paks-of-Three-Firs2025-12-26 15:41
I actually suspect it will be a slow burn with the actual moments of revenge being highly targeted to each individual and being highly violent or destructive, if not with physical violence, financially or mentally.
HugeRichard112025-12-27 01:37
I guess financially ruining someone is revenge too in a way as a merchant. Most would assume it's the violent type, but I could see I guess other types of revenge being fun too.
Paks-of-Three-Firs2025-12-27 01:39
Something about them being live to watch Everything around them. Get destroyed is very comforting when it's a revenge story like this lol
SirRHellsing2025-12-26 16:59
If it's a normal ln adaption pacing, the first instance of "real" revenge is probably ep 3 or ep 4
HugeRichard112025-12-27 01:35
Okay that's not bad for pacing then basically three novels worth for an arch which is pretty normal. I just hope to see her pop off and the revenge is satisfying
SnooWalruses20852025-12-27 02:07
I'd be interested to have your thoughts about her revenge when the episode will be released. I don't know if it's a good point or not, but from what I saw so far, either you love the story or you hate it. There's no in between.
HugeRichard112025-12-27 05:11
I might be in the episode discussion threads anyways when the episodes air, as strong female lead in fantasy world setting is generally a draw in for me. Though not sure depending on if the summer season is stacked might not pick it up until people talk about how its been.
SnooWalruses20852025-12-27 07:36
Depending on the pacing, it would be something like 5-6 episodes in.
"How a Realist Villainess Rebuilt A Kingdom In Order To Take Her Revenge Through Economic Pressure And Diplomacy" doesn't really hit the same. Although I'd probably watch it.
heimdal772025-12-26 13:47
Lets just say she is brutal when doing revenge stuff.
Khaoticsuccubus2025-12-26 19:59
You have my attention. 🙂
SnooWalruses20852025-12-26 16:10
You'll see it don't worry.
SirRHellsing2025-12-26 16:57
I read the ln, she actually does revenge. Pretty brutal as well
heimdal772025-12-26 13:46
This description makes it sounds like she found them when imprisoned but they are something she always had.
Yesshua2025-12-26 14:32
Engaged to a prince and then spurned? Check.
Wrongly betrayed by those she trusted and set on a course for revenge and vindication? Check.
Main character gains an overpowered skill? Check.
Backup hot noble swoops in to provide legally required romantic angle? Check!
However! Nobody in this universe appears to be a "saint" nor is there an isekai plotline so I cannot quie justify awarding a seasonal slop triple crown. Very very close though - a commendable effort for all involved.
SnooWalruses20852025-12-26 16:12
Well there's not romance in this story.
She's also overpowered from the start.
Tacitus_2025-12-26 17:35
> Main character gains an overpowered skill? Check.
Uncheck. She had the skill for years before the story starts.
>Backup hot noble swoops in to provide legally required romantic angle? Check!
Uncheck. The viscount is a backer for her to establish herself in the neighbouring country. It's a business relationship.
Fools_Requiem2025-12-26 15:28
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
chili012025-12-27 03:02
I really hope the revenge happens. A lot of these revenge/payback fantasy manga/stories take forever to get to the actual revenge plot
1stAsianGuy2025-12-26 12:48
With those two anime under the director's name, I don't expect this anime to be anything better than middling. Then again, with a title and synopsis like that, I shouldn't expect any better.
heimdal772025-12-26 13:50
Synopsis is badly written. Girl is brutal.
XO3RI-OWKA2025-12-27 10:12
As a disclaimer - I couldn't get into it and dropped the manga after reading some spoilers for what happens later and found it upsetting. The girl hates the entirety of her kingdom, and, while her attacks are targeted directly at the people who wronged her, there WILL be collateral damage. A lot of it. Most of them had no involvement with her at all. She justifies what happens to the children of the kingdom with "they were playing with a story of Good Hero Prince defeated the Evil Witch Duke's Daughter". Children. Playing out a story they heard from the news.
There's also slavery. She buys a slave, because it is legal in the empire and she needs someone trustworthy. But don't you worry! She doesn't buy the mistreated malnourished children of a Bad Slavetrader, no-no-no! She buys the good, highly trained slaves of a Good Slavetrader who cares about his slaves! The slave even thanks him in tears!!!
Ugh, I can't. I guess there're some people who will find it good (I've seen the comments under the manga chapters), but it's, like, not for me. And I enjoy a good revenge plot! So, like, look into it a bit before committing to watching it or something.
SnooWalruses20852025-12-27 17:27
About the slave... she buys two big houses in the capital for living and her firm, spent a night in a luxurious hotel and you would expect her to buy a low-grade slave when in that world exists a merchant of luxurious slaves ? Seriously ?
Also, don't spoil a story you half understood with spoilers of people who hates it.
Lodju2025-12-26 09:23
The title name alone makes me interested and the cute lady seals the deal that i will be checking this out atleast.
Ponczo1232025-12-26 09:48
The title name alone makes me not interested and the highlight on op object/skill in the title is always a bad sign
Lodju2025-12-26 10:08
Good thing i enjoy seeing OP anime girls kick some ass.
Ponczo1232025-12-26 10:12
I like seeing op girl kicking ass too my favourite of this season was the Wild Last Boss Appeared but it all depend on the execution because you had also May I ask one final thing that was also about strong lady kicking ass but most people agreed that the first few episodes was very good the middle was very boring and the finale was decent.
Lodju2025-12-26 10:15
I enjoyed both very much.
But for me it all boils down to if i like the characters, story can be mediocre even if i just find the characters fun and enjoyable.
clgfandom2025-12-26 15:09
If u like Overlord type of fun, then you will like this haha.
xVashTSx982025-12-26 12:21

leafeknight72025-12-26 11:50

Monkguan2025-12-26 12:17
man these cringe long title rly need to go
Mami-kouga2025-12-26 12:48
Oh this, I only really know it exists because I read a review talking about how they found it off putting and started rooting against the protag.
SolicitorPirate2025-12-26 13:39
I dunno. As I’ve gotten older, I‘ve developed a real fondness for stories about female anger and vengeance, but the trailer looked pretty rote and honestly somewhat juvenile
heimdal772025-12-26 13:52
Oh believe me she does not play nice at all.
EnthusiasmOnly222025-12-26 16:06
Is there at least some build op or is she gonna be op untouchable by episode 4 😴
SnooWalruses20852025-12-26 16:17
A bit of both.
One of her targets is way above her league in term of powers, so she has to work around.
Captain_Kuhl2025-12-26 18:30
That really sounds like it breaks the mold and ventures into new, uncharted territory.
Tacitus_2025-12-26 17:38
The anime will probably spent most of its time on her building her power base in the new country because she knows she needs one to get her revenge.
Falsus2025-12-26 22:12
[Novel spoilers]>!She is super strong and pretty op, but one of her targets is even more OP than her, by quite a lot even.!<
gem2niki2025-12-26 14:52
At least the title doesn't contain the generic keywords (isekai, banished, villainess, reincarnated etc)
Falsus2025-12-26 22:10
It is an villainess story but it has no isekai, banishing or reincarnation plots to it.
It is just a regular fantasy, with villainess tropes.
SnooWalruses20852025-12-26 22:31
Yeah but it's a true villainess story. So it doesn't have the usual trope of a "villainess series".
Falsus2025-12-26 22:45
I mean the ''usual tropes'' are there and it is what made her into a proper villainess. She wasn't one when she got accuseed of being one.
SnooWalruses20852025-12-26 22:51
The premise is similar to many series ("May I ask for one final thing" goes even further than this since the main character, the pink lady and the prince are very similar), but the story itself is different.
Rhobar1212025-12-26 15:02
This is the series where the MC clearly has Canadian roots.
The story is completely wholesome and absolutely morally questionable.
It's a good thing the world doesn't have the Geneva Convention, because the MC would probably break half of it multiple times
Sirenoman2025-12-26 15:17
She probably will be the reason for their equivalent of war crimes, because it is not a war crime the first time someone does it.
Rhobar1212025-12-26 15:27
War crimes only count when you are at war :)
SnooWalruses20852025-12-26 16:18
lol
ClassicsMajor2025-12-27 00:44
Or if you lose the war. Winning had a way burying all the horrific shit a country does to get there.
Etheo2025-12-26 21:33

Oh *that* kind of Canadian roots. Makes perfect sense now.
Sounds like this will be a series to watch for. 😁👍

Oh shit, you know how to make a person interested... :)
Imalwaysdavidsplooge2026-01-17 14:16
Please tell me they nuremberg the fuck out of her, always so annoyed to see these revenge stories and the smug asshole MCs in them.
SnooWalruses20852026-01-21 17:04
In history she's remembered as the Silver Witch, a merchant who steps on the battlefield to fight for her firm's interest.
Imalwaysdavidsplooge2026-01-21 17:09
So unsatisfying, if she's an insane war criminal whose goals are revenge against an entire country then she only deserves to be remembered as female pol pot.
Fuck these smug MCs in revenge plots, I hate them all.
SnooWalruses20852026-01-21 19:50
Note : All this informations come from Flashforwards who give a few informations about what will happen to secondary characters and the Kingdom she fled, there's no real spoilers.
As we all say, story is written by the victors.
But in this case, she's acting behind the scene, very few people are aware of her true abilities. As a storical point, she never let a big impression on the historians (while she's behind a lot of stuff), her merchant prowess was also overshadowed by her own apprentice.
So her punishment (if we can call this a punishment) is she was completely forgotten in history.

Pretty embarrassing how popular these revenge fantasy shows are. Did nobody watch Naruto to see how cycles of violence hurt us all in the end... Dattebayou 😔
