Hunter x Hunter anime 1 and 2

So I didn't know they re-made the old version of the anime (yeah, very late to the party). The "new" one has 148 episodes.

Does the new version go beyond the old anime? I did watch the old one including all the OVAs. Which episode takes over from the end of all those old episodes? I'm not sure I've the patience to re-rewatch everything though my memory of the story itself is a bit fuzzy...

Yes, it condenses the early bits and goes further than the OVAs did.

They did go beyond and the two are very different. I think it is worth a complete rewatch

If your memory is fuzzy, start at epi 59 (the beginning of Greed Island). It'll help you get used to the new voice actors and art style before you hit the new content at epi 76. You definitely don't need to re-watch the Hunter Exam or Yorknew if you're short on time

they changed the voice actors and art style too? wow, gotta see if I can get used to it then. thanks for the info.

Well. It is interesting to rewatch the new one because it is a little more fast pace compare to the original. Also because it has been along time lol

But if you still want to watch from the point the old anime+ovas stopped, it is on episode 75 in the new one. That is the last episode of Greed Island Arc.

After that it has 2 arcs that were not in the original.

awesome, will do so. thanks!

It goes beyond expectations and is definitely worth seeing.

greed island and the content after chimera ant are entirely worth watching

TrueDentist99012025-12-26 14:18

Yes it goes past greedy island into 2 more arcs. If anyone's new i recommend watching the 1st ep of old series then go to 2011 as 2011 skips gon meeting kite but personally I think the old version is better with atmosphere and mystery of the world.

MusubiKazesaru2025-12-26 15:13

Including the OVAs it should show new content starting at episode 76 with the start of the Chimera Ant arc. I think it's worth rewatching.

Believe it or not there's a pilot anime so technically these two anime are 2 and 3.

It is fun and worth rewatching.

The first few episodes are slow, but I'd still rewatch from the very beginning.

I'd also recommend keeping your eyes peeled for the future World Trigger reboot. Another fun and even more subversive battle shounen.
