Can anyone who stuck around until the end tell me did it get better? Bcoz i remember with each new ep more and more people were dropping this series.
MusubiKazesaru2025-12-26 16:15
It didn't.
Heemsama2025-12-26 16:18
I was really fw the show in the beginning but unfortunately it did not. Last few episodes were so garbage. The dude with the blood umbrella was probably the only decent part about it towards the end.
starwarsfox422025-12-26 16:34
Temu Levi is the only decent thing in that anime
demaxzero2025-12-26 18:02
It's funny hearing people say this because even he's still pretty damn boring.
Like I genuinely can't think of a single character trait this guy has besides being monotone
Artistic-Monitor-2112025-12-26 18:52
Actually having more than one braincell, unlike literally everyone else
Etheo2025-12-26 21:24
Supposed to be the "mysterious mentor with a burdened past" kinda trope. But yeah he never evolved beyond a clutch or power showcase.
xxetrikk_2025-12-26 16:19
its an fun battle shonen thats it nothing more…if it had production quality like jjk or ds everyone would have treated it like second coming of jesus or something lol
Electrical_Chance9912025-12-26 17:23
>if it had production quality like jjk or ds everyone would have treated it like second coming of jesus or something lol
I doubt it. Animation alone cannot carry a show, story matters as well. If audience don't find it engaging or interesting, they'll leave regardless of the production quality.
Anime like Elusive Samurai, Lazarus, Yaiba and Sanda had amazing production value with incredible action animation but they barely got any attention outside of japan since ppl just didnt vibe with their stories.
enesup2025-12-26 20:51
Shoutout to Sanda and Elusive Samurai (Didn't really like Yaiba although I 've only seen a handful of episodes. I can appreciate the production of it though. Haven't seen Lazarus).
At least ES is getting a Season 2 but it's a shame nobody has talked about Sanda.
zz20002025-12-26 23:13
Elusive Samurai's case is that it requires you to know a certain segment of Japanese history, as interpreted by a mangaka with a certain (weird) visual and humour style.
fUsinButtPluG2026-01-17 18:05
I must be the odd one out because I really enjoyed watching it just like the Japanese audience so meh, happy there is another season coming!
melindypants2025-12-26 17:48
I don't think so since like the other commenter said, animation can only carry a show so far. I actually thought the animation was the *best* part of the show, the dialogue and pacing really killed it for me. It was such a slog to get through and boring as hell.
enesup2025-12-26 20:05
> if it had production quality like jjk or ds everyone would have treated it like second coming of jesus or something lol
Nah, it's a pretty generic show.
KnY and JJK may not be perfect, but there are things to like beyond the fights.
Why in the fuck would you try to humanize a guy who laughs as he tortures children to death.
demaxzero2025-12-26 21:33
>Why in the fuck would you try to humanize a guy who laughs as he tortures children to death.
It's funny because his backstory doesn't even humanize him since he was still a Momotaro beforehand, so he was always evil anyways.
enesup2025-12-26 21:58
And even besides, now he has a child yet he still seeks to cause as much suffering as possible because fuck everyone else I guess? If someone beat his kid to a pulp like he was doing in his introduction, I don't think he would like it too much, right?
Although I plan to finish it as an exercise bike show it's when I gave up on taking the show serious at all.
a_Bear_from_Bearcave2025-12-27 03:53
The dumbest part was that it tried to humanize him by showing what tragedy happened when once they let a oni kid go, after murdering his family - and then after that flashback he literally lets another oni kid go after murdering her family, but this time to make her suffer alone, not out of pity. How is that supposed to make sense?
enesup2025-12-27 07:27
I won't bother to check, but if I recall he couldn't get to her for one reason or another (too busy ripping little boys limb from limb for getting blood on his suit I guess), and let her go because he had more pressing matters but was definitely going to track her down and finish the job.
If I'm wrong and you're right, then that makes the show even shittier.
a_Bear_from_Bearcave2025-12-27 13:17
I'm pretty sure there was a scene where he tells her parents he let their kid escape just so she could suffer more alone, but maybe I misremembered or misread that part, or he was lying to them. I admit I was speed-watching this.
Successful-Sky44112025-12-26 20:06
No, it wouldn't.
somacula2025-12-26 16:20
Yes, I liked the latest episode
TyraniTEMPESTar2025-12-26 16:21
It hasn't. Imo it's only gone downhill.
Should've dropped it after the first cour, but I've stuck around because the sunk time fallacy kept dragging me along.
Been watching at 1.5x speed the last 6 or 7 weeks.
melindypants2025-12-26 17:45
Omg I could never lol I dropped it on episode 12/13 because I just couldn't anymore - shame because I liked the animation and character designs but it was SO boring to watch.
Will you watch the sequel/S2 since you're powering through at 1.5x speed already?
TyraniTEMPESTar2025-12-26 18:05
No. I'm hopping of board.
The anime just isn't for me.
Even if the sequel turns out to be better than the first 24 eps, just can't keep trying to force myself to like it.
Whoever is into though, good for them a sequel being announced. Hope they can enjoy it more than I could.
melindypants2025-12-26 18:27
Makes sense to me! It's sad to see that it didn't get better at all but yes someone out there is definitely excited and will enjoy the sequel
animepig2025-12-26 16:27
Absolutely did not get better
starwarsfox422025-12-26 16:33
it's pretty dog water and that maybe an insult to dog water
Luketanyr2025-12-26 16:40
Straight ass throughout you didn't miss out
FLorianGran2025-12-26 16:42
I personally felt the final arc was an improvement over the Frankenstein of other anime that the first cour felt like
NeoTagAtg2025-12-27 04:10
Yea but it was an improvement as in your trading cow shit for like rabbit shit sure it smells less but it's still shit
Do_Not_Comment_Plz2025-12-26 18:42
It has the most generic “chosen one” story line with hilariously bad fan service and next to zero actual world building and the powers aren’t even that interesting.
2/5 at absolute best.
laughoutloud1022025-12-27 03:36
It really isn’t that bad. People here make it sound much worse than it actually is.
Agitated_Trust27102025-12-27 09:21
Agreed…people are far too picky. I like it personally and will absolutely watch season 2. I honestly feel like the vast majority of anime starts off slow and takes some time to develop. The fact that there is a season 2 being made kinda proves people have enjoyed it.
ScrantzScratch2026-01-10 10:11
I agree, it's generic and formulaic but I don't think that makes it unenjoyable.
I like good homemade food but sometimes I just want a generic fastfood burger, it's what I'm in the mood for and it hits the spot.
Also I feel like the Mikado and Shiki relationship has a chance to be pretty interesting.
Heh_zack2025-12-27 05:28
The story development is good imo, especially the bonding between Shiki and the people around him, which helps him understand others better. Some people just don’t know peak.
Agitated_Trust27102025-12-27 09:23
People love to hate and always negative about everything. Luckily I don’t let other peoples opinions dictate whether I watch a show or not. 🤷🏽♂️
Regression2TheMean2025-12-27 15:07
I liked it 🤷🏼♂️
One-Economy89162025-12-27 18:28
I’m the opposite. I think it started slow, but I started liking it more and more. I really liked the Nerima arc
fUsinButtPluG2026-01-17 18:02
Ditto!
Happyplague12025-12-28 11:05
The second cour is way, WAY better than the first but it's still like a 6/10 in terms of quality at best. I enjoyed it all the way though.
chiefeaglecloud2025-12-26 16:17
It is so generic yet can't help to watch it. Almost a fresh air in new shonen that tries to be subvert
Cluelesswolfkin2025-12-26 17:16
Idk if im too old at this point but i agree with you its so generic I throw it on in the background but I wouldn't call it a fresh air, just seems like basic troupes that we've seen for years, I did like that 1 ability of the dude stabbing his thumbs and summoning chainsaws, the animation looked cool there but after Deadman wonderland and literally chanisawman im like I've seen this before
fUsinButtPluG2026-01-17 18:10
I think that's the issue, as a person who watches and enjoys anime but doesn't watch literally every single one out there, there was nothing "generic" about this to me.
I see that with movies these days, almost the same as (name another movie x) so you could apply that if you've seen to many anime, you'll just think this is like that and this and make links and everything becomes generic if you've seen something similar taking the joy out of a lot unless completely and utterly like nothing else.
For most people though that's not the case and that's why it is still a hit and a success and great to watch :D
Cluelesswolfkin2026-01-17 18:30
I mean Hells paradise/Gachicuta?/JJK are all shonen and new stuff and they are rather enjoyable and fresh than TA~ it's literally writing and how they do their stories, i just gave you 3 examples of which are new anime that has sole troupes but overall fresh
fUsinButtPluG2026-01-18 18:29
Never heard of those my man, hence why I said what I did in my comment lol
Cluelesswolfkin2026-01-18 19:04
You havent heard of jujitsu kaisen/hells paradise or gachikueta? Lol my guy do you have internet/s
fUsinButtPluG2026-01-19 19:12
Heard and watched and loved jujitsu kaisen :D
The others nup
demaxzero2025-12-26 18:00
>Almost a fresh air in new shonen that tries to be subvert
Not really no.
There's a bunch of new shonen that's not trying to be subversive, and is still easily ten times better than this.
Jamez_the_human2026-01-01 01:11
"Actually, your opinion is wrong, and it's only good if I enjoy it."
starwarsfox422025-12-26 16:35
hot generic garbage gets a sequel
hope Temu Levi is in it tho
darkj45692025-12-26 17:42
lol I was wondering who the teacher reminded me of and that’s it
AdNecessary76412025-12-26 17:51
Well, he has his VA too
Jakeyboy1432025-12-26 21:54
In English though, he sounded like a certain wise guy named Dr. Anaxagoras.
BostonSamurai2025-12-26 16:41
Man I stopped watching at like episode 8 maybe the latest, I can’t bring myself to watch it this garbage.
Terrible-Trick-60872025-12-26 16:45
When people call a shonen anime "generic," I usually roll my eyes because just because an anime takes inspiration from something doesn't really make it generic, most big anime or the "big three" took a lot of inspiration from many past manga. Like I thought Black Clover was uninspired when it first came out, but at least that show has a solid cast and really fast pacing. This takes the cake, outside of some good character designs this show feels like it was made by AI.
biggiebass132025-12-26 16:46
Shocked this got renewed.
hdjfhfhsh05803hfjc2025-12-26 19:33
Japan likes it, the manga sells well and it recently got a stage show announced. Looks like they were mainly aiming to grab the attention of the western audience with this adaptation but clearly didn’t worked at all
Etheo2025-12-26 21:27
I honestly don't get Japan. They would shun stuff like CSM TV series but indulge in this mediocrity? Makes no sense to me.
xzerozeroninex2025-12-27 01:09
TA is like a what if Blue Exorcist,Tokyo Ghoul and Naruto had an *rgy,so of course they’d love it,because it has everything they liked about those series.
Etheo2025-12-27 01:41
But it's like the bad kind of orgy
Agitated_Trust27102025-12-27 09:25
I mean…Kingdom is heavily carried by Japanese fandom and not super popular in the west. That right there is enough to tell me that Japan has solid taste when it comes to anime. 🤷🏽♂️
Appropriate-Aside-262025-12-26 16:54
I really liked this show. Yeah it was slower paced but a lot of the old shonen were and I dig that.
ChocolateGoggles2025-12-26 16:56
Can someone convince me this is worth continuing to watch based on why I quit? I was enjoying it for a bit but landed in that I no longer could make sense that it was "blood powers", everyone could do so much insane shit with it that it may have just been magic or Boku no Hero Academia powers except colored red. I was hoping for something that really connected blood to their powers. Does it get any better? I think I dropped it around the time they had defeated the parents that "came back to life". That wasn't the reason for me quitting, just the reference that comes clearest to me as to the latest thing I remember.
EDIT: Nvm, saw some of the other comments.
DetectiveFujiwara2025-12-26 17:52
This is actually one of my favorite animes of the season. Surprised so many people are hating on it. Im really happy it has a season 2.
SpotMaleficent99002025-12-26 18:16
This getting a 2nd season while Unlimited Gacha still hasn’t… 💔
sayantool4562025-12-27 05:29
Unlimited gacha may get another season
TrickyOne28_2025-12-26 18:23
I enjoyed the whole show. I don't know why so many people are trashing this anime. I mean sure, there are over sexualized characters but that's everything i have against it. It really becomes enjoyable to watch especially on the later episodes where are the more important fights. If you're reading this. Don't believe them. GO WATCH THE THING YOURSELF and Maybe you'll enjoy it like me.
C4ged2025-12-26 22:57
Nope, not really. It started out pretty good but changed things up fast and went in a really lame direction just when it was getting interesting....
bananamango152025-12-26 23:11
Agreed. I enjoyed the initial episodes despite how generic it was but as i kept going it just became more boring and eventually dropped it after the first cour.
TrickyOne28_2025-12-27 09:56
What lame direction are you talking about? But anyway ...Why don't you just let people enjoy the things they enjoy without f*** your opinion into them?
C4ged2025-12-27 16:33
Must be the same reason I don't understand why you would tell people to waste their time on this when there are much better shows.
TrickyOne28_2025-12-27 18:52
There are definitely better animes than this... But that doesn't mean it's not worth watching. I liked it and that's enough. Still you haven't answered the question in what way exactly it's bad
C4ged2025-12-28 08:26
The idea is good but the execution is just bad. The blood powers are made in crappy CGI and the fights looks stiff and low effort. The story pacing is also super weird, one moment we're starting school and it's getting kinda interesting annnnd, gone, let's scrap this whole thing and go to Kyoto to have some forced drama and battles that feels empty because you barely got to know the cast. Dialogue is also not great, even for a shounen. Whole show just feels like wasted potential to me, maybe the manga is better.
Jamez_the_human2026-01-01 01:14
Fans are super nitpicky nowadays and impatient. They either drop something immediately or only watch on to shit on it unless it blows them away in the first episode nowadays. And if you're watching something just to shit on it, then everything is going to be filtered through that because you've already decided it's bad.
I like to watch things for the promise they show and see writers grow in their crafts. I drop stuff too if it's fundamentally uninteresting, but a lot of series with rough beginnings get treated too harshly by nerds.
fUsinButtPluG2026-01-17 18:11

Alstruction2025-12-26 23:06
Its soo ass.
not_tha_father2025-12-26 23:24
does this show have appeal as a "trashy fun" sort of watch (ie something like High-Rise Invasion) or is it just boring trash?
Jamez_the_human2026-01-01 01:17
It seems pretty contentious. You either like it, and think it has room to improve or think it's the worst slop imaginable since live action Dragon Ball.
Ok_Joke46002025-12-27 00:35
Is it worth watching?
Actual_Muffin91082025-12-27 01:06

Top-Remote45232025-12-27 07:39
As someone that stuck through all 24 episodes, I can say that this series is lacking in depth and does not present a conceivable solution to the main conflict that has been established.
Most of the main cast are severely underdeveloped despite a two-cour runtime. Even though some of them do get back stories and are relatively fleshed out, namely Shiki, Rokuro and Kougasaki, they feel lackluster and surface level as these elements serve to explain why their Oni powers manifest the way they do. Other than learning more about their Oni powers, none of the characters have progressed in their character nor their perspective in how they can change the status quo of the situation that they are in.
However, the writing is not necessarily at fault here and that is because the main conflict has no viable solution. Onis can and will lose control of their powers at some point and that will continue to drive the conflict with the Momotaros. While not all the Momotaros are benevolent, their existence is inevitably required to protect civilians from such incidents. Mudano may have some sort of plan in mind, but viewers need to play the waiting game to learn just what this is in future installments.
If you dropped this series, there is no incentive for me to recommend you to come back to it as the story never gets better. The animation, while having janky CGI moments, was not a huge issue for me, but rather, the story itself just is not that great in general. Personally, I will continue to watch S2 when it comes out as I am interested to find out how this main conflict will be resolved.
Agitated_Trust27102025-12-27 09:28
People will say it’s slow paced and in the same breath say One Piece, the slowest paced anime of all time, is peak. If you enjoy it, watch it. If you don’t, find another to watch. I would never rely on others opinion of an anime. Most people just love to hate. Be your own person, make your own judgement call.
Decent_Zebra_36752025-12-27 19:47
Same people who dislike Tougen Anki will say one piece or solo leveling is peak.
Both of those are ass. Tougen Anki is actually decent. The mc is kind of generic, but some side characters are a lot more compelling.
Wild-Ground-73612025-12-27 23:07
It was decent tbh I didn't hate it, but if you don't like it stop hating and just don't fucking watch it you stupid dumb idiotic shit head fuckers
Jamez_the_human2026-01-01 01:20
It is unironically funny to me how some people are being so fucking annoying that they're making people that thought it was a decent enough show defend it like they made it themselves.
People really need to learn not everyone wants to hear what they have to say. Especially if it's just mindless noise that doesn't add to the conversation.
Environmental-Fix3622025-12-28 03:53
I Just finished TA ep 24.
Im looking forward to Season 2, Im finding the pacing and story development to be fair. I have no complaints about it. After reading a bunch of comments here i find alot of people to be far too picky. The anime is fine. I like the sprinkle of lewd humour. Im looking forward to seeing how peoples powers evolve as the series continues on and how the students find themselves to be useful in the war against the momo. All in all im glad this season is renewed for a second season. Also i find the character design to be top notch Main character is a little generic for my taste but i can ride that out and accept that maybe he wasnt written for me. I watched the anime on a second monitor while i was gaming away solo so maybe that affected my experience. But all in all id say i enjoyed it enough to stay up till 1 AM each night cause i wanted to finish the chapter i was in.
JAQUE_BELLACS_421862025-12-29 07:22
I don’t know, it definitely was more dialogue than action, but I enjoyed it and I would definitely watch season two. There’s a lot of questions still unanswered and there’s still room for growth to make it even better. It definitely wasn’t one of the best animes that I’ve seen but it wasn’t bad to watch.
Big_Produce_16382025-12-29 12:15
Can anyone tell me why people hate so much on this show? i get that its not the best of its genre but its literally not even that bad. i'd give it a solid 8/10, its definitely worth watching
Unknownsa012025-12-30 05:32
Looking to start watching this, is it action packed or dialogue heavy? Don’t really care about it being generic just looking for something that’s has a good amount fights
SSGVegito922026-01-02 17:10
I just read a lot of the comments and it’s basically split into two groups. People who like and people who don’t like . No in between . THIS IS THE ONLY COMMENT YOU SHOULD READ, watch for yourself. Either each episode gets worse or gets better for you. It got better for me and turned out pretty good actually. But if you’re not a fan that’s okay too. But to come on a page and just leave negative comments is just hater mentality . People mad their shows got cancelled so now they 💩 on other shows that people may like. Please don’t be a hater . I’m glad for season 2 . If you don’t like it , go to another page ? lol
HellfireKitten5252026-01-03 16:10
I love this anime! Screw the haters. I'm excited for the second season!
DirectionNo76262026-01-05 00:22
I don’t know where everyone is getting the idea that this anime is shit 😭 I loved every second of this. I’ll take a few more seasons tbh
lemons2513zz2026-01-07 06:13
lol tanjiros generic basic back story and everyone sharts their britches over demon slayer, but magically this anime is doodoo right? cant wait for season 2
KitsuneNightmares2026-01-08 01:52
based on most these comments, i feel like maybe i'm the only one excited for the sequel lol
SceneSuch71162026-01-13 02:10
It’s not the best anime, but I usually don’t have high expectations so I personally found it enjoyable. I’m pretty excited for season 2.
fUsinButtPluG2026-01-17 17:38
I really enjoyed this so I was hoping there would be another season announced, so happy!
BadgerCubIsMDG2026-01-21 16:14
