All’s well that ends well. The brothers are reunited, the rogue spirit’s banished, and everyone gets sweets lol. That’s a pretty good ending to an interesting little series.

We finally found out what kind of yokai Nikichi and Sasuke were, that's pretty cool.
Glad Matsunosuke made it out of the fire safely too, as it was sorta left ambiguous whether Yokichi actually killed him or not.

I like how at the start of the series Ichitaro was constantly sick and had pretty much everything taken care of for him. And slowly throughout he started to gain a little more and more independence for himself.
Happy ending for everyone all around.

I'm fairly certain they said what kind they were relatively early on. I remember even looking up what a Hakutaku was since that was one I hadn't heard of before.

This was a solid series and it was a nice change of pace from most of the other anime from this season. I hope more people take the time to watch it.

Agreed. This show was solid and one that I looked forward to every week. Along with Gachkuta, Tougen, and Lvl 9999. There were a couple others that were decent, but I think this Fall was a bunch of trash. And never had so many shows end with no ending.

There actually a lot of very lovely "cozy" shows this season. Perhaps **you** have little use for these, but many of these were gems -- not trash. ;-)

This one would be nice to have another season for. Ichitarou learning the value of his life is superb considering all the factors that went in with his parents, grandmother, brother, etc.

I do think the start was odd with the pacing since I thought it would be more of a detective mystery at first. In the 2nd half, when I realized what this show was trying to be, I really enjoyed everything came to gether.

I found this a bit clunky at times (more in dialog than in story details), but it was pretty solid overall. An interesting (and different) sort of story. A better than average "weak protagonist" -- who does grow bit by bit and is able to (mostly) stand on hios own two feet by the end.

Such a soothing balm this was, following Ichitaro’s story around the Nagasakiya. I’ve long been fond of tales involving supernatural folklore from that era. Shabake presented it nicely. I’m glad everything worked out in the end.

I’m still convinced there’s more to Matsunosuke’s backstory, but maybe they are saving it for a second season (hopefully, please?). Someone also needs to open a Shabake-themed sweets shop. They can do it to promote their second season.

Ogin’s appearance confirming that it was her tail in the OP with baby Ichitaro was a nice touch.

Nice wrap up for the show! I think it's implied that the netsuke glass bead really did have protective powers originally meant for Ichitaro. But its passing to Matsunosuke symbolized the protection that Ichitaro is now capable of giving to others. Not a bad character development at all for someone who started the series always sick and bed-bound.

This show feels like a crossover between *Natsume no Yuujinchou* and *Kyouko Suiri*. Perfect for those who enjoy watching mystery shows with supernatural help.

All’s well that ends well for sure, although I had hoped to see a lot more action of the spirits than what was presented. But that’s just my preference. Definitely glad to see Ichitarou’s growth and I’m hoping it’s not the end with this series.

Despite what she said though, I still feel a bit bad for his mother at the end there. Even though this is technically the best outcome and she’s supposedly okay with it.

Glad Matsunosuke was allowed to stay at the Nagasakiya. He’ll definitely live a good life with Ichitaro and everyone going forward.

Meanwhile, I felt kind of bad for Sumitsubo, the failed Tsukumogami. Nothing can justify what it did, but before it became a violent spirit, all it ever did was patiently wait to become a Tsukumogami--for about a hundred years--(and it was almost there!) until the accident destroyed that chance. It was sad that there was no other way for it.

The final episode gave Yanari more screen times, which helped make up for their absence in recent episodes. Don’t glare at them for asking for more sweets, Sasuke. Just give them another serving! You shouldn’t forget that they were a huge help in saving Ichitaro when the guy possessed by Sumitsubo attacked him previously. They’re soo adorable that I wanted to see them more and ended up watching a compilation video of their scenes.

I’d love to see further development of their stories. Hope it gets a second season!

Good finale and this wrapped up a lot. The previous episode almost seemed like a finale since it resolved most of the plot but this had sort of a happy ending with his brother turning out to be alive AND getting to work in the apothecary. I was surprised his friend who was a bad baker didn't get hired since he mentioned one time that he was bad at cooking but smart in running a business. Everyone seemed to survive except the evil spirit and I like how it wrapped up with a big party. One of the better shows this season with a very inventive world and overarching plot.
