Speaking of girls Naoto has rejected, it's Ishihara (with Shimada in tow)! I've only just noticed this, but Shimada has a surprisingly bold fashion sense (and a cute butt) and Ishihara has really doubled down on being a professional model with that makeup and short skirt to show off her legs!
It's actually kind of nice to see a more bold and confident Ishihara, right down to teasing her ex, though when Shimada reveals that all that talk about her "first kiss" was really her getting slobbered on by a dog, she's still the same Ishihara.
It's nice of Ishihara to still be willing to see Satsuki after everything. In fact, the only thing she really wants is to stop being called "Miss F-Cup." She's not even an F-Cup! Are you a G-Cup Ishihara!? Are you a G-Cup!?
I admire Suzu's determination to still pursue Tokui to the point of swearing she'll woo him when she turns 18...does Shou have a chance? Well, Renon is willing to slap some sense into him so he cleans up his act and has the potential to do it...but she also seems to be supporting Suzu with Tokui, so I guess she's just the new Tokui when it comes to Suzu's love life.
Satsuki wears a boyfriend shirt as naturally as she breathes.
Tamayo has had her own circumstances. It wasn't just Naoto's dad that got cut off, their parents basically disowned Tamayo when she didn't make it to med school. And yet, because of her brother, Tamayo was still able to make it through life and that's when she realized that real family doesn't abandon each other. Which is why she took in Naoto and Suzu and will always welcome them into her home. And she cleans up very nicely as a lady lawyer!
One last beach episode for the road! Complete with Satsuki in a sexy bikini! Though it's less of a date and more of a family outing with Suzu, not that it stops Naoto from re-confirming his and Satsuki's resolve to get married together eventually. Complete with gifting her a watch! And Satsuki even properly declares her love for Naoto to boot!
Naoto and Satsuki have been through a lot. Their family circumstances, being separated from each other, but in the end they found each other and are finally able to be together for the rest of their lives (along with Suzu). And the sunflowers that were once a symbol of their past, and their parting, have now become a symbol of their future!
Satsuki also clearly stated that she loves Naoto.
When Naoto said he loved Satsuki, she thought it was the highlight of her life, especially for someone who had been abandoned by her mother and only wanted good memories to move on and continue living even if she was alone.
Luckily, Naoto is persistent and determined to marry Satsuki. Naoto managed to propose to Satsuki. Thank goodness Satsuki said yes and accepted Naoto's marriage proposal, much to his relief.
Naoto will move back in permanently with Satsuki in her apartment after they graduate from high school.
I guess in the end, everything basically worked out for Naoto and Satsuki. I think my favorite character in this was Suzu though. She’s a good little sister and pretty adorably goofy at times.
Overall, this was decent. It was a little convoluted at times due to the actions of the characters but for the most part, it wasn’t half bad.
I'm also happy that it feels like Ishihara has grown enough to be more confident in herself, confident enough to tease Naoto even after everything that happened between them and still face Satsuki. I hope she finds someone who can love her as much as Naoto and Satsuki love each other.
Suzu just landing in her own love triangle with Shou and Tokui with Renon playing both sides. It's like the next generation lol.
Aunt Tamayo really shined. It was interesting to learn why she was so committed to her niece and nephew. One gets a sense that Naoto's view of her was always rather distorted. It was strictly his own issues that made him see her as putting up with him and his sister as an imposition (thus making him feel he needed to become self-supporting as soon as possible). Clearly Tamayo and Suzu have a pretty good relationship already.
It is nice to see that Suzu and Satsuki have bonded. No little sister jealousy anymore -- Suzu is happy to share her big brother with Satsuki. And nice to see a bona fide proposal (S: "that sounds like a proposal"; N: "it was").
We all need more friends like Tokui.
Tokui was a great friend to Naoto. Naoto's reconciliation with Satsuki was entirely due to Tokui's efforts and help in getting students from both schools to stay at the same hotel. Not to mention the school trips to the same locations and times in Okinawa.
They didn't show the last day of summer with all of Naoto's schoolmates gathered at the restaurant where he works, including his girlfriend Satsuki, who was also invited by Ishihara.
I wish they had shown Naoto picking up Satsuki at her graduation and the two of them living together permanently as a couple after finishing high school. And finally, having s3x.
I also wanted to see Naoto as a chef and Satsuki in college.
However, I thought it was a great anime.
Ishihara is a WHAT (presumably G) cup??
Tokui's gramps is a chad honestly.
Tamayo looked pretty fine this ep ngl\~
Ngl, cute ending, but feels kinda half baked. No garden backstory, and feels like there's definitely more to Nao and Satsuki's story they wanted to show but couldn't due to length. They absolutely did nail these last 3 or 4 episodes though tbh, and do hope we get some OVA or movie to clear up everything else at some point.
Probably a 7/10 from me, good few ending eps but most of it that came before was kinda... eh. I did enjoy it enough though.
I was expecting Satsuki to come clean with why she did it to Suzu, but I guess we just have to take the implication that it was because she was emotionally frustrated at being "left behind" by Naoto.
Also, points for those tight shorts she was wearing in this episode...
I’ll miss seeing new episodes on Fridays.
Considering that, it's surprising this anime was made and given the 26 episode order. But I'm glad it happened that way.
For my positives, I liked Naoto's character development, he started off as a wishy-washy annoying fool that was way too clingy with his little, and ended up becoming more stern and more respectable of a character. I also really appreciated his character struggle of him not wanting to end up in the same situation as his parents, while also trying to get a handle on his own romantic journey; for the most part I thought that was done pretty well.
Regarding the negative, there were a few characters that I really didn't like at first but softened a bit or just flat out don't like even now. Satsuki and Tomoya were characters that really didn't like at first but ended up softening a bit. Characters like Umezawa and Ishihara's mom were characters that I still really don't like.
One other negative I had was some of the drama and conflicts, I didn't think it was done well. Some of the conflicts in the story just boil down the characters making really rash decisions and/or acting totally idiotic.
Ex.1: The whole drama with Yukari "breaking up" with Naoto was really dumb and handle really badly imo.
Ex. 2: The conflict with Naoto trying to get the laptop was stupid too; instead of talking to the woman who he thought had his father's laptop, he decided to make it more complicated and secretly steal from her.
Overall, the series wasn't terrible, but there were certain things that could've been done better.
And I think at the end of the day the show did a good job explaining why the characters acted the way they did.
Oh right she exists.
So, they're all at his restaurant.
Is this the after-party for the show?
Lol.
Boing.
Ok...
Lol there's a little love triangle there too.
And so back to their couple life.
It pays money. That's good enough.
So, she's come over to his old place.
Bruh.
Lol was his brain on autopilot going back to his place?
Well, if not a doctor, a lawyer is another of the stereotypical Asian jobs lol.
Oh, is he moving back in with them for now?
And so the sunflowers are in bloom.
Oh lol there's her photo of him dressed up as that guy.
Anything particular about that date?
Ok, so the beach.
A tan?
Ok...
Huh. What's he digging in his bag for?
A watch?
And so there's the proposal.
And so she finally said that.
Indeed, they've found each other.
Overall, an ok rom-com. 6/10.
Speaking of Pink, it's nice to learn she kept up with the running and didn't fail out of her school and club, I'm just going to pretend her club president has her well in hand or something.
Good Shimada outfit today for the finale.
Interesting to find out that part of the drama with the parents was the previous generation failing at keeping up with the doctor family tradition, wild that a lawyer for a daughter instead just wasn't good enough.
The focus on the garden after so long had me thinking "please don't destroy it again Satsuki" but thankfully it was pretty wholesome family time with her, Naoto, and the imouto to end things off.
Two cours was an interesting production decision for this of all shows but it was nice getting a full adaptation with good relationship progress and closure.
The middle of this series was a complete dumpster fire, but the last few episodes were really nice. It feels more like an extended epilogue instead of the drama from before, but maybe that's what this series needed.
just kind of a run-of-the-mill romance anime with nothing fully special about it. I did like the first OP, though.
Man even got a tragic backstory with a gyaru.
It was kinda funny seeing Suzu tease Tamayo. Man, it's great seeing Tamayo and Satsuki get along. Two seemingly cold characters kinda warmed up to each other. Tamayo's a lawyer, that's cool.
I like that Naoto expressed how he wants to repay Tamayo, but she tells him that he's always welcome to return. Paying forward the kindness she received from her brother. They're family after all.
Damn, so wholesome and heartwarming. One more date for the ending? Yes, please! And so Satsuki finally tells him properly how she feels. No ending without proper communication!
I love how that watch has the image of a moon on it. Satsuki's name is based off of "Tsuki" (moon). Also actually cute that they had Suzu with them, making irreplaceable precious memories with family! I don't regret going on this ride with many ups and downs for a beautiful ending like this. I will never get tired of happy vanilla romance endings. There were definitely elements that I didn't like, mainly it really didn't need to have become a "harem", and also the rivalry between the two could've been handled better.
PS: in case anyone is still wondering, it's Watari-kun's "peace". The English title has 6 asterisks on it. Peace has 6 letters. The Japanese version has 2 x's (xx) on it. The Japanese word for peace is Heiwa with 2 characters (平和). Also the first episode and first chapter is titled "The Day Peace Began to Collapse"
so, has the story gotten any better? or worse? Is it worth coming back into/
All the characters turned out to be quite likable/lovable at the end as well which makes it a real plus to watch. I could feel that everyone got more mature the more the show went on and it made for a lovely ending.
I hope we get more romance series with full adaptations like this one because it was satisfying. I'll miss watching Naoto and Satsuki's story unfold but we got a happy, conclusive ending for these two which satisfied me.
Happy ending for them both
After visiting the area myself last month, I can't unsee the Enoshima Sea Candle and Enoden being featured in a beach episode of almost every anime that takes place near Tokyo. They are quite iconic!
Good ending and one of the most low-key bops of an OP this season.
Best girl wins even. Can't ask for more really.
I enjoyed the show a lot. Just had a nice atmosphere to it, that I know I'll miss going forward. Ending was sweet too. Super happy for them....but Tamayo...allow me to be yo man please
I liked this show better than Kurakon and Danjoru which kinda surprised me, because I wasn't sure if I would. This one was awesome.
The most surprising moment was Tomayo revealing she was a lawyer. I didn't even know she was in a leave of abscence, for whatever reason I thought she was a manga writer since she seemed reclusive and barely ever left her room when the show started. It's possible she had other mental problems at the time, especially maybe dealing with the grief of Mr. Watari dying. It's also odd that her parents shunned her but also left her their house; I suppose it did explain why she had such a nice house although maybe a lawyer could also afford it.
Watari and Satsuke really shouldn't have ended up together. Her bad behavior throughout the show was rewarded and it doesn't seem like they will end up happily ever after, especially considering their age.
I liked the resolution they gave to Suzu crushing on Tokui though with her deciding to wait for him, at least for as long as before she meets someone new. She also lucked out getting that nice star plant from Grandpa Tokui since she can replant it with her flowers.

All the characters in a way or another solved their conflicts and became a better version of themselves.
That's enough for me.
