Does anyone know this anime?

I remember watching an anime years ago, but I don't remember the name or the characters very well. I only remember the plot: a student wanted to save his friend from dying. So, every day she died, and his day restarted so he could try to save her. But that's all I remember. I seem to recall that if she survives, he dies, or something like that, but I'm not sure. I saw it more than 10 years ago.

Sounds like the vocaloid Kagerou Project, specifically the song Kagerou Daze, the fan video done by wannyanpu, which was later canonized by the original creator. The boy is Hibiya, and the girl is Hiyori. There was an anime version of the project called Mekakucity Actors, and they tried to recreate the scene, song, and video into the anime.

Edit to add more info: Hibiya and Hiyori are caught in a Daze, and only 1 can be allowed out. We follow Hibiyas POV for most of it, wherein he watches Hiyori die in a multitude of different ways. Not accepting the outcome, he is reset by the Daze to the beginning of the day. When he tries to avoid her fate, she just gets killed a different way. The viewer gets the inkling Hiyori is doing it on purpose. At the end of the sequence, Hibiya successfully changes places with Hiyori, and dies in her stead. But then we switch to Hiyoris POV, who has been desperately trying to save Hibiya from the fate of dying in her own POV; they've both been doing the same thing, but don't remember their successes, only the failures. This will repeat until one of them accepts the others death.
