- So Viola and Neige are fighting alone this time. Interesting take on the enemy-turned-ally plot. Well, I suppose the show being as long as it is means they can take their time with it instead of just having things *immediately* be all hunky-dory.

Sadly, this results in me skipping the episode this week, as this results in a common problem that appears in a lot of toyetic titles: the belief that the tried and true characters must be pushed to the backside in favor of promoting the "new toys".

I get it that you want to promote the new Princesses, but only having the main trio show up in the beginning and ending and not really have them do anything (as well as putting off until tomorrow something that could have been done today, as the title of the next episode suggests that Lily will lighten up a bit and try to cooperate with the other Princesses instead of sticking with the Cure Kiss routine), the episode just screams "Let's use the final episode of the cour to get kids into wanting to add items involving the new Princesses as a last-minute item on their Xmas list."

At least they gave a pretty valid in-universe reason for why the main crew were on the sidelines this episode. Navue can't detect these new monsters, and the Princesses can't fight what they don't know about. It's way better than the average Precure series just having the previous Cures job to a big enemy so the new Cure has to save their asses because she's just way stronger.

Even if you want to skip the fight for that reason, the episode is still definitely worth watching for the scene with Nacchi and Lily.

The problem with the comparison is that the Princesses *could possibly* take on the new monsters (as they were able to score a hit on the initial one when it tried to attack the sisters, and the only real reason they didn't stop it was because the White Queen trapped them in goo).

Lily not resolving her issues with being part of the team and the "valid in-universe reason" are basically just excuses to devote the episode to just the Sisters as a means to sell the new toys.

I have to disagree because the episode planting seed for future conflict, as the reason the two new princesses can felt the new monster is because they used to work for White Queen, which pose a question, what does that mean for Naviyu? Why can he felt the presence of Jammerwock while others can't? Did he used to work for Red Queen? Or whoever was behind Jammerwock (assuming it wasn't Red Queen)? Or something else?

And it also present the Princesses with urgency to work with Sumire and Lily. Unlike typical magical girl show where the old team want the new members to join because they are "best friend" or simply because the new members are powerful, the Princesses needs Viola and Neige because of their utility. As other user point out, The Trio Princesses can't help people if they can't detect the monster.

There are a lot more thought put into giving this episode narrative purpose than just "Please buy our new toy".

...and there in lies the other problem with not having the other Princesses get involved: this is something that could have easily been resolved this episode (with the Nacchi/Lily bit eventually leading to her reconsidering her options to do things alone and have her team up with the main girls at the end of the episode). Instead, the show has to come up with an excuse to drag this problem out with the whole "the main girls didn't get involved because they can't sense the new enemies while the sisters can" BS (with people having to wait three weeks to see the main girls in action due to New Year's break and the obligatory "recap special).

EDIT: Said problem also brings back bad memories of Digimon Adventure 02, where the show had to come up with ways to nerf the main Digimon from the previous series in order to give a reason to introduce new Digidestined and the DigiEgg form of Digivolution.

Pretty good episode to cap off the 3rd cour. I like that the sisters aren't immediately joining the team and still need more softening up, and I like that [Nacchi is the one taking the initiative to do so](https://i.imgur.com/3KB4iAv.png). She's been a great non-combatant support character in this series. We also got some fun moments with some side characters and [a very interest comment from the White Queen](https://i.imgur.com/3joSrCp.png). What kind of "pledge" did she have with the Red Queen?

The fact that [Navue can't can detect the appearance of these new Jammersnarks](https://i.imgur.com/cmg0mfD.png) but the sisters can is a nice wrinkle to leave off at before heading into the break. I thought we'd only be waiting 1 extra week, but WakuTomete is saying no episode next week and then a recap episode (like we got for the first 2 cours) the week after that, which would mean *2* extra weeks of waiting. This show is worth the wait though.

Perhaps not yet.

They're saying all of this so loudly _while she's right there behind them_. I expect her to interject in the conversation eventually.

Or that too because yeah they're in the library.

I mean sure watching concerts is nice and all but there's a certain magic that only comes from going up on stage yourself.

Meanwhile I don't think I'd ever want to do event planning lol.

I mean she's not slacking? She wasn't even scheduled to do it she just did it to chat with her.

Yeah... I don't even want to think about getting venues etc.

They seem to be having a good time.

Oh. That's _big_ trouble.

I suppose we'll be seeing more of the Flower Knights for now since they just joined the Princesses.

Gee I wonder how they ended up there...

Yep they were the ones who defeated that thing.

Huh. Uh oh. That's certainly inconvenient.
