Besides Akane-Banashi this is the one that i hoped will get dubbed, i wonder if CR, or maybe Netflix, Disney+/hulu will license and dub this one.
Elytrax72025-12-27 12:20
I don’t think akane banashi would be good as a dub. I am staying away from plot spoilers but as far as I know it’s some kind of traditional story telling competition type thing and dubs usually localise the cultural nuances. Correct me if I’m wrong though
farhanganteng2025-12-27 12:30
People said the same thing with Chihayafuru before it got dub, and i also remember when everyone viewed Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju (a similar theme anime on Rakugo) is "undubbable" since the latter never get dubbed.
I mean the manga itself was well-receive and lot of people were hyped about the anime. I hoped Akane-Banashi will get dubbed and prove that other people's perception that the genre/theme is undubbable is wrong, I think a hypothetical English dubbed could do well if handled by the right dubbing director, scriptwriters and the voice actors.
Elytrax72025-12-27 12:45
Yeah, definitely, I would never not have a dub if there’s a chance. It simply expands the reach and popularity of the title and anime as a whole, which is what everyone here desires I’m sure
caiusto2025-12-27 11:54
Man I don't deserve Science Saru it's like they get all the manga I like and make an insane anime adaptation. 🙇🙇
Ordinal43NotFound2025-12-27 20:42
I'm glad that even with Masaaki Yuasa stepping down, the stuff they're animating are still unique looking as hell. I'd argue they look even more distinct from one another compared to when Yuasa was there (most I associate with his own style).
Can't wait for what they'll do with Ghost in the Shell that tries to mimic the OG manga.
Komorebi_LJP2025-12-28 01:54
Hopefully if it does well enough they will do sequels. They have been getting better at it, but I am still somewhat disappointed we havent seen anything new from Eizouken
bushwarblerssong2025-12-28 01:57
Can’t think of a better studio to adapt it, especially considering the art style. Hope it will be as great as The Heike Story, which deserves more praise here. The perfect collaboration.
CappyHam2025-12-27 12:11
New Naoko Yamada directed work? GIMME, inject it into my veins.
BiggieCheeseLapDog2025-12-27 16:08
She’s only chief director. The main director is Abel Gongora.
ZombieSpaceHamster2025-12-27 12:48
This had my interest from the plot synopsis, but now you have my full attention. This looks and sounds fantastic, I love the art style and the music. It's going to be something pretty unique.
Fun-Ad-11452025-12-27 13:10
I know that Gongora is European and Saru employs a lot of foreign animators but this feels more like a European production made by Gobelins alumni (aesthetics wise) than it does a regular TV anime.\
Same with ALL YOU NEED IS KILL next month.
Salty1452025-12-27 13:49
That’s kind of Science SARU’s bread and butter tbh. I mean look at Yuasa’s line-up even before founding the studio, and its stylistically all over the place.
Fun-Ad-11452025-12-27 14:34
Yeah but we're in a post Yuasa Saru world. And a lot of Saru projects post Yuasa leaving still feel recognizably anime, Even Scott Pilgrim.\
But with Jaadugar's teaser it feels more like an extended Gobelins short or from an obscure trailer from Gkids.
Training-Banana-69912025-12-27 18:15
Does look close to the mangas style.
Fun-Ad-11452025-12-27 18:18
It does, and it does and amazing job translating it to screen (manga reader from day one)
But the way all of the elements are put together along with the tezuka cartoonish-ness of the original style, really gives it the feel of a European production.
TheGreatSaltboy2025-12-27 16:46
Is that a bad thing?
Fun-Ad-11452025-12-27 18:19
No I'm just pointing it out.
East Asian and European animation has always had overlap with each other.
Aware_Step_61322025-12-27 18:19
This is the art style of the original manga artist, which has been serialized since 2021, so it's not like the studio adopted special character designs for the anime.Rather, it is faithful to the original artwork.
I mean obviously I know that, I was a manga reader from day one.
But what I'm saying is the way a lot of the elements are put together coupled with the original's tezuka-ish cartoonish-ness here really makes it feel like it's supposed to be a long lost Cartoon Saloon project.
Salty1452025-12-27 13:15
I was already very intrigued from the first teaser visual, but now knowing that Yamada is involved, I’m going all in on the hype train.
2026 is shaping up to be quite the year, and increasingly so with every new announcement.
Yesshua2025-12-27 21:01
Me too exactly. Saw the pitch, thought "Huh, could be cool let's hope for the best".
Saw this trailer and upgraded to "I have trouble imagining a universe where I don't love this completely"
MonsterKiller1122025-12-27 13:26
This looks unique and interesting. I don't know how good the manga is but the vibes are great in this trailer. I will check this out.
Komorebi_LJP2025-12-27 17:19
Unique and interesting are synonymous with Science Saru I would say
WhichCombination56372025-12-27 13:45
This looks absolutely gorgeous. Definitely a must watch for me.
UltimateArtist8292025-12-27 14:27
NGL, ever since Masaaki Yuasa left, Science Saru has been making bangers after bangers with more different styles outside of Yuasa. No hate for Yuasa but his abstract, stylized directing style is just not for me. This looks like a marriage between Cartoon Saloon and anime.
fetusnecrophagist2025-12-27 15:21
I'm so happy we're getting more josei anime, with this and Ikoku Nikki/Journal with Witch
TermEnvironmental8122025-12-27 19:20
>Journal with Witch
I wonder why they change the English title
fetusnecrophagist2025-12-28 07:54
I guess they thought 'Diary of a Strange Land' was a mouthful
ConceptWeird40262025-12-29 02:14
Witches are the selling trend right now
Ali-Sama2025-12-29 02:58
And this time she ain't from mercury
Mecha_Link2025-12-27 23:17
Now if only Otoyomegatari can get an adaptation!
Temperance102025-12-27 15:57
Had me at Science Saru
Asgerond2025-12-27 16:14
Mongolia mentioned
disposable-assassin2025-12-27 18:35
But western stretch during Gengis Kahn empire rather than current boarders.
Waste-Swimmer-94112025-12-28 22:16
It's more about a Persian slave girl who is going to take revenge against the Mongols
Komorebi_LJP2025-12-27 17:17
The manga for this has been nominated for several awards in Japan.
I haven't read it myself personally but I see that some seem to recommend it especially for fans of Orb and Historie(well known historical manga that I think is actually also getting an anime if we want to believe the leaks)
2521201115112019212025-12-28 01:45
I am a reader of the manga and it is really really good. It really makes you feel like you’re in 13th century Middle East/Asia and the story is straightforward yet powerful, also the art style by Tomato Soup the mangaka is amazing.
Komorebi_LJP2025-12-28 01:49
Art reminds me a bit of Tezuka. Anyway looking forward to watching it!
fetusnecrophagist2025-12-28 07:56
It's much, much better than Orb imo
Anne20492025-12-27 18:16
You guys don't understand how happy this makes me as an Iranian. Of course, I can't hide my sadness and anger. Because every good project that is somehow related to Iran and its culture is not made in Iran itself.
Euphimura2025-12-27 18:35
For once, Arabic written correctly
BrisingrSenpai2025-12-28 04:16
I think it is Persian, not Arabic. But you are correct, for once it is not gibberish!
Waste-Swimmer-94112025-12-28 22:17
It's Persian not Arabic
Queue_Jumping_Quack2025-12-27 18:43
Looks interesting! But... in Mongolia? Looks more like Persia or Central Asia (Samarkand / Bukhara) to me? Perhaps she is a witch from Mongolian instead...
bushwarblerssong2025-12-28 01:49
It begins in Persia. One of the characters is based on [Fatima](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatima_(d._1246) ) though the English Wikipedia page has mistakenly identified her as the main character.
fetusnecrophagist2025-12-29 12:13
Fatima is indeed the main character. She's the girl in the trailer and the story revolves around her
bushwarblerssong2025-12-29 17:08
[Tenmaku no Jadugaru] >!That’s a spoiler. She becomes Fatima, but the English Wikipedia page lists her as Fatima from the beginning, including from when she is a slave while she is still Sitara, but the synopsis on the anime site is keeping this hidden and using her original name.!<
fetusnecrophagist2025-12-28 07:59
It is about a Persian girl whose life gets turned upside down by the Mongolian invasion and gets involved in the Khans' politics
Waste-Swimmer-94112025-12-28 22:17
It's more about a Persian slave girl who is going to take revenge against the Mongols
Ill-Profession12762025-12-27 22:43
# Mongolia? its more like afgan or pakistan, sadly its not look as mongol or turk
Waste-Swimmer-94112025-12-28 22:17
It's more about a Persian slave girl who is going to take revenge against the Mongols
ZaqTactic2025-12-28 08:02

SCIENCE SARU I KNEEL!!
Goddamn this looks absolutely beautiful. As a longtime fan of this manga, I couldn't have hoped for a better adaptation. Can't wait to see Töregene and Fatima together.
