The first two hour special episode for "Detective Conan" in 10 years will be titled "Murder Case No. 30" and is written by Sakurai Takeharu, who wrote the "One-Eyed Flashback" and the "Black Iron Submarine" movies.
He only had 30 murder cases in a decade of episodes? /s

Think that bad, according to an interview from Aoyama, only 6-8 months have passed since case no.1. Never mind the technology advancements and holidays.

That’s so unbelievably funny lmao.

Lol if only. This kid is basically the grim reaper.

It's unfortunate that they didn't remaster the Trembling Metropolitan Police Headquarters 12 Million Hostage instead. That is what I was hoping for as well for the 1000th episode.
The case itself is combining episode 1 with episode 772-773 which is flashbacks. That itself already adds something for the first episode. So I don't know if this one would get something new too.

This is one of those series that is just too long to justify the time sink.
How many episodes would it be without filler?

Handy dandy site to watch Conan.
Also just relax while watching Conan. It's a series that can be picked up any time. You just enjoy the ride mainly for character and mystery with an occasional plot to kick up the gear once in a while.

Thanks for the link.
I used to watch the show in the 1990s and early 2000s. Just fell away from it when other shows pre-occupied my time.
I was more interested in solving the initial mystery but they drip fed it over the course of hundreds of episodes. I just gave up the notion of ever getting a final answer.
The is my main problem with a lot of anime which have a great premise but the profit motive drives creators to try milking a series for as long as possible because once they end it they are out a paycheck until they come up with a new idea.

Still can’t find the last movie anywhere only and it’s only few months until the next movie release.any websites?

There is already one on the high seas. In fact I watched it last week and it is good. Kogoro finally showed how badass he is once again after so long in the movie.

Once you get into it, it's just an episodic show. Very rarely do you see plot progression. I would just recommend the movies if you want a nice detective story. There is no point in watching it for an overarching plot.

Or maybe just watch the episodes where the Organization members are involved

Actually just read the manga given the series is pretty episodic the author rarely goes back to canon

I started watching in 2013 and I adored the series. It was worth the time sink and it went by faster than I expected. I “finished” the series in less than 6 months. At the time, there were over 700 episodes back then, I think. It’d be even faster if you wanted to skip the filler. I still go back to the anime now. At this point I’ve watched 1000 episodes. Minus I started skipping the filler when I got into the 900s. To catch up with the main story line. I still plan to return to the skipped episodes at a later date.
The best parts of the series are the movies so if you just wanted to test out the series, you could try out the movies. The early episodes were great as well.

Might actually watch this, last one was the Vermouth arc right?
phantomthiefkid_2025-12-27 20:06
It was Episode One in 2016.
As for episode that is part of the main series it was Three Days with Hattori Heiji (2007)

So what's the difference between a 2-hour special and a movie?

Well I just hope this has new scenes.
The previous episode zero.
The case itself is combining episode 1 with episode 772-773 which is flashbacks. That itself already adds something for the first episode. So I don't know if this one would get something new too.
