I love this show for everything except battling Nokkers in a fight. Mental battles with the Nokkers is good too.
That is true for him hundred of years ago. He is indeed right that the era that he lived in is much worse than the modern era, but he is too immature to realise that issues can be non-physical in nature.
Considering the older times in which people had worse everything (food, safety, housing, energy, medicine, knowledge, hobbies to go by, etc...) modern people can look like whiny b\*tches
Turns out there are in fact people who would accept Nokkers to escape their traumas.
Seems like the Nokker is now fully in control of the reigns, and is purposefully fucking up all of Mizuha's relationships. Wonder if it'll take full control soon once Mizuha is left alone?
I lol'd at the episode preview of Fushi turning in a test exam with a giant ? as his only answer.
Like a parasite feeding off that idea or feeling of wanting to die. So it does everything in its power to make the person want to feel that way more.
Mizuha knows how to wear a mask and that stresses her out. So when she's stressed, the Nokker shows, and the Nokker CORRECTS those individuals by making them into half-Nokkers to fix the problem.
That was mood
And I don't think a nokker can prevent someone from reviving? Fushi just needs to make a body and for the spirit to want to be alive again
"Oh, thank god she's alive!"
Mizuha's "friends" continue to be adorable "social-divas" as usual.
[I really feel bad for Mizuha, tho.](https://i.imgur.com/U69kjwr.jpeg) That Nokker possessing her is ruining all of her relationships. And you know what's fucked up? I don't even know anymore when she's her normal self or when she's being possessed. [Who was talking to Fushi there in the end?](https://i.imgur.com/2NoLrc6.jpeg) Was that Mizuha or the Nokker?
[No shit, Fushi.](https://i.imgur.com/J7D1nfw.jpeg) He's so busy trying to deal with the Nokkers and this entire deal with Mizuha that he's forgotten about his actual family. Not gonna lie, [seeing March and Eiko looked like they've been attacked only [for Tonari to reveal that they were being tutored](https://i.imgur.com/AwCp74F.jpeg) got a good laugh from me.
Now that scene of Eko from the OP where someone is grabbing her arm while she was using a chopstick make totally sense. RIP tutor.
> There's so much good food to eat.
> Plenty of sturdy homes.
> So many fun things.
> **There isn't even any time to be sad.**
> Why would you want to die?
> I honestly can't understand why anyone would want to die in a world like this.
> I'm sure March and Gugu and everyone else thinks the same.
> **That this world is way happier than when they were exhausted from fighting.**
He is very wrong about not having time to be sad, because abundance actually gives you plenty of time to feel existential and depressed. Also you'll feel the choke hold of societal rules and norms that you didn't have to consider before. A society built on luxury and surplus does not tolerate people running around with weapons doing whatever they want and going wild, it requires subservience to order as the sacrifice for that wealth.
In contrast, when scarcity dominates, every moment is filled with survival tasks, so every moment has meaning and purpose, so even if you suffer, you simply lack the time needed for depression or existential thoughts, making those much rarer. In addition the closer a society lives to that brutal edge, the fewer rules and norms it can afford to impose, since nobody has the luxury of deviating too much anyway or spending time enforcing anything but what is needed to survive.
This line made me wanna see how Fushi would interact with Hinako from _This Monster Wants to Eat Me_ haha
This made me think of when Fushi threw the computer monitor into the river and got scolded by Aiko. So far the rules haven't really applied to him, or at least he hasn't faced consequences..
Even with the test he just left and everyone thought he died.
We already saw that 1000s of degrees centigrade molten metal bath can't slow him down meaningfully.
The world is just lucky that Fushi is good natured.
Hanna was watching 😱 Mizuha Knocker broke Hanna
I can understand bringing swords out in the open but WTH happened to Gugu?? Got into a fight perhaps
Everyone not happy being in this “peaceful “ world dealing with their own personal issues 😭
because honestly he's had like 400 years of human interactions, he just doesn't get it.
People have to help themselves, be okay with where they are in life, OR convince Fushi to destroy the world government. At best he could solve world hunger, provide shelter, and provide protection against wildlife and car accidents.... but there will ALWAYS be problems within people. The nuances that create stress will only evolve.
As for the rest, well that's kind of not what I was talking about really. ~~But he can easily make them all happy with a few mudballs~~
Like... have you ever played Suikoden 4 or Utawarerumono Mask of Deception? Mizuha is like the characters Snowe and Entua. You want to help them because life gave them a bad hand, it's possible to help them.... but at the same time it'll take so much time and effort and their problem is something so internal that they could always potentially find new ways to f*** up and give you even more work to do. Like that one child/sibling who just can't seem to do a da** thing right.
That's what I see going on here. Like Fushi isn't too far off from her tbh. 800 years and look at how much he has left to learn. He has the advantage of immortality and creation. He also lived during a time where social nuances weren't evolved enough to ostracize others. Like Fushi without the appeal of being a handsome foreigner would get ridiculed for being dumb. Gugu without the muscles would've gotten the same for being ugly. Someone like Mizuha should have no trouble doing anything but it's all about mindset and a proper setting(environment). Without one of those two things, then it can only end in disaster.
Where is Bon when you need him
The characterization.
The novelty and strong execution of the premise. Naive deity creating hundreds of situations with weird contexts. All the human characters playing along and getting onboard with all the paranormal shenanigans.
The comic relief really feels like the soul of "Fumetsu no Anate E".
The people/users who complained about the story-writing must have been Knockers or something. They are just jelly of Fushi.
Now the upcoming episode is a "Persona" NPC sidequest adventure, and I am all for it. It is time for Fushi to level up his social links and put the Knocker grinding on hold for a while.
No Mizuha, you did NOTHING wrong. Please, never change. She is the best abrupt and seductive edgelord there is.
Fumetsu no Anate E does not make sadness the premise, it's emergent. You feel sad because you can relate to their struggles and how tragic and realistic they are, how they try to fit in and be together or figure themselves out, how they are crushed by social expectations. Frieren is different, you have a bunch of perfect beings adventuring together in a world which is extremely convenient for them and them only. Everything else is secondary and NOT real, it simply serves a purpose.
I have no doubt Frieren will end as it started, a tear jerker with a superficial message of acceptance. This series here, however, is already leagues ahead both in theory and depiction of it, a simulation of modern human society with its ups and downs, and an added layer of supernatural to create an interesting inquiry of "what if".
But I am fully on board with how great this season has been and some episodes like this one have been fantastic
After seeing Mimori trying to live her life as much as she could, Fushi seems to think that not all Nokkers that occupy the bodies of people ain't so bad.. 'cause as Mimori said without experiencing death she would never have gained the will to live no matter how hard her life is. But Mizuha's Nokker is really bad news.
Even after living for a longtime, Fushi is learning something new every day about humans. Did he really believe that everybody who live in what seems to be a peaceful world are really happy and wouldn't think of taking their lives not even once !?
The current Nokkers pose a very complicated dilemma to Fushi, because their vision of peace is actually Fushi's own, but witnessing it in reality he is realizing it's twisted and disrespectful toward's everyone's agency.
The other side is most perfectly expressed by Bon's perspective that even if life is painful it is still our burden and responsibility to deal with it and make choices with that everyday. That is why we oppose the Nokkers impersonating people when they commit suicide or when they're too distressed to function. However accepting this means you can't fix everything for everyone, and may even mean accepting some Fi's wish's to not live, which is immensely disturbing for Fushi not just because of his empathy but also as someone who has dedicated so much of his conscious existence to making a world where people don't have to be in danger.
What happened?
Edit: seems it was up on Crunchyroll but was removed because NHK interrupted the broadcast due to coverage of an earthquake. Maybe a clause on the license that they can't upload it until the broadcast is done or something.
But now Bon is going to be recognize as a supreme threat.
Oh, I just noticed there's still a difference between how both factions uses spirits. Fushi's uses ghosts while Nokkers peak in all the way from paradise, I guess there's little functional difference but it should mean that each factions spirits can't see the other faction's.
Both have fye....
Reality: Police, broken faces and bones, studying for finals. Life is complicated
So Fushi doesn´t really seem to understand humans and their feelings yet. I think it goes with what people have said in previous discussions, that Fushi can understand the physical world but past that it´s all mystery. If he can´t physically feel it, it doesn't seem to make sense to him.
The people from Eko's clan can't talk verbally, but they can communicate with each other by making vases and having the other person hold the vase (if the other person is from the same clan).
Yuki made a vase so that he can communicate to Fushi without the Nokkers hearing his thoughts. It sounds like anyone can make a vase to communicate their thoughts (Yuki is not a member of that clan), but the person needs to be a from that clan in order to receive those thoughts.
I don't think it is elaborated much more than that, though.

Fushi being overjoyed about his mud ball, while everyone else is being surpressed by modern society
Also that police station must be wondering wth is suddenly wrong with that house
Expanded the building without a permit, opened a sword workshop, inhabitats are trouble makers
I am a bit surprised Bon didnt get the workshop permit or something
And it looks like its only a question of time till Mizuha finally finally snaps
When she said "You didn't solve anything, I am still crying" I think it was implying that this was her general response to issues - have others feel bad for her through emotion, and she expected others to do things for her. But Fushi is not a human and he is not affected by this, her "crocodile tears" simply don't have an effect on him. And it surprises her as well. She is just as much trying to figure the world out, despite being the manipulator she is, as Fushi - they are a perfect "troubled" couple, in this sense.
Plus Fushi couldn't care much because he can actually feel pain. I guess he honestly felt that it was just nothing to Mizuha so he got nothing to worry about.
Like, where tf does it come from? Ignoring the possibility that it's just there to titillate and thinking about it in-story, did original Mizuha really love Hannah that way and it's the Nokker that's into Fushi? Is it simply a twisted expression of love (of either kind) due to Mizuha's stressful upbringing, a-la _Happy Sugar Life_? Was the Nokker panicking and tried to dishonestly calms down Hanna but it's as clueless about the finer points of human feelings as Fushi is?
Is it even useful to think about it in a Nokker/Mizuha dichotomy when it seems they're increasingly one fragmented yet unique personality?
What about Hanna herself? That was a surprisingly twisted thought she had back when meeting Mizuha at first. I wonder what she really feels? I love how every character is so complicated and grey in this!
Turns out my half joke prediction from last week was right.
This is like an unwinnable level.... because it is impossible to make people happy lol.
I'm happy to see Funa again!!! I thought she was gone forever! And now she has appeared in a timely manner to shut Mizuha's controlling antics down lol. Mizuha might not ne the one who does the really bad things, but Funa proved to us that Mizuha endorses it after it's done.
Man, that ending though. This was a Mushoku Tensei Turning Point level twist!!! Like when Rudy never considered that others teleport..... I, like Fushi, never considered that the others weren't happy!
Fushi doesn't know enough to help them. They got go deal with permits, cops, and taxes lol. Money is everything, but inflation is a problem! And even if every NEED was taken care of, then more new nuanced problems will surface.
It's this episode that's really starting to have me think deeply after all the development from the last few episodes. Like logically I know it doesn't feel right, but seeing the impact that Nokkers have had on modern society, the line between Nokker and human is blurring for me.
It’s so obvious they don’t give a fuck, that it’s almost astonishing. Something interrupted the airing, and thus Crunchyroll did not upload it.
Revolting company.
Mizuha getting more unhinged each episode, it’s hard to figure out if she is the one in control when talking or the Nokker. Well she certainly messed up with her friend…gotta thank Nokker-kun.
Funa has a fun personality, i don’t remember why she was even hated by her 3 classmates and wanted to die?
cant watch it on crunchyroll :c
I gotta say, I forgot how crazy Mizuha's blood line is... Also she is one of the most well-written manipulative, psychotic woman I've seen in anime in recent memory.
The way she breaks down constantly, switch emotions constantly and moment where she's clearly conscious of what she's doing but pretends to be taken over by nokkers.
So far, I'm just like how real some of the characters are with their problems. Reminded me of why I picked up the manga in the first place. Just incredibly detailed characters that the author dont mind slowly going through each and every interaction. (It's actually incredible to have 3 seasons with such great pacing)
What started as a simple fighting fantasy transformed - no, evolved logically into a discourse into modern human existence in all its aspects. It's like Trigger studio works all over, people started to feel disconnected with the story once it went way ahead of their expectations. And all I can say is that it is good, this inner conflict of \*why\* they are dissatisfied with a "sudden" change of the narrative will be the source of inner, personal growth.
And the revival of Funa confirmed what I theorized in a previous episode. Only death can help a person realize the meaning of life. With Fushi's body replicating technique, I think this is the only way to clear out the nokkers - kill, replicate body, revive without nokker. The person who has realized the meaning of life after experiencing death should now be immunized against nokker invasion.
