Perhaps. But what's wrong with it? If the men could have harem comedy shows like 100GF, then why couldn't the girls have the other way around?
rutujz2025-12-28 12:21
No no I don't have problems with this. I was just telling how my sister is obsessed with this kinda anime. And she watches it in front of my parents 😭
brewstercafe2025-12-28 13:00
Good for her lol 🤭 Love when the girls are being catered to and that they enjoy it
Ammu_222025-12-28 13:10
Well good for her.
FluorescentShrimp2025-12-28 13:59
*oh no, an anime that isn't catered to you is coming out.*
otakupervert890-12025-12-28 12:45
So far my only show on Friday out of the 27 I have so far for next season.
noctaviann2025-12-28 13:14
Frieren airs on Fridays, an hour before this one.
otakupervert890-12025-12-28 14:33
I don't watch frieren
otakupervert890-12025-12-28 14:35
For my sanity I didn't pick any sequel next sequel to not reach 40-45 shows which I would have with sequel plus they do construction literally next door which cut my sleep schedule so less shows the better.
False_Baby86282025-12-28 13:27
Holy wait I was bored and I read this webtoon once I didnt think that stuff would ever get an anime lmaoo.
Im gonna go on a bit of a rant dont mind me.
Look, im not saying that they shouldn't make anime catered to woman and the stuff they like, but im a woman. And this stuff is trash. Id much rather read good shonen than bad whatever this was. Making stuff for woman but going "well let's just put the self insert and every type of pretty boy and they should love it theyre woman after all" makes it even worse than just not making shows for woman.
mr_beanoz2025-12-28 13:38
was it really that bad?
False_Baby86282025-12-28 13:42
Its just total nonsense of every boy in the series falling for the super plain and boring main girl because of some ancient history they had in a different life or something. Its such forced "plot" and i hate it. At least make them fall for her for real reasons. Not cause of some mystic connection.
Oh, I failed to mention that this whole series sole existence is to push a boy band? Yeah
mr_beanoz2025-12-28 14:04
I know that, the vampires are based on ENHYPEN members, where the werewolves are based on &TEAM members. (and they're actually part of a spinoff instead of the actual "The Blood Altar" webtoon)
LowraAwry2025-12-28 14:50
So, reverse harem representing a boy band. Tbh, many reverse harems are basically the animated manifestation of boy bands. Or, the boy bands are the irl manifestation of reverse harems...? Something along those lines.
WhyHowForWhat2025-12-29 11:25
There are a lot of good reverse harem. Unfortunately, the good one that I know never get anime adaptation like this......
n080dy1232025-12-28 20:07
God I hate the "I'm only into you because we were lovers in a past life, not because we particularly love each other to have chemistry right now" trope. Massive writing copout.
Alt22212025-12-28 16:57
alright. now i feel better about judging this harshly based on the key visual alone in less than half a second. omg thats super funny. thanks
_Ridley2025-12-28 17:12
> Id much rather read good shonen than bad whatever this was.
Look, everyone deserves some trash tailored to their demographic. We get a dozen self-indulgent isekai aimed at young men every season. One silly reverse harem isn't hurting anyone.
And why jump to "good shounen" if you're trying to convince people you're not looking down on female-targeted works? There's a ton of good shoujo out there they could be adapting.
False_Baby86282025-12-28 18:10
But there's good trash. Even trash can be done right.
awesomenessofme12025-12-28 18:22
I thought it was pretty clear they were saying "I'd like there to be good shojo, but if given the choice between good shonen and bad shojo, I'd pick the former". Made perfect sense to me.
itrashcannot2025-12-29 01:50
>"I'd like there to be good shojo, but if given the choice between good shonen and bad shojo, I'd pick the former". Made perfect sense to me.
Well no duh? Ofc ppl would chose good shonen over bad shojo bc one is GOOD and the other is BAD? So idk why they even said that bc it's an obvious choice.
abandoned_idol2025-12-28 17:18
Web toon? As in Korean webcomic?
Most web toons turned anime I've come across were pretty bland, so I definitely believe you.
The worst one so far was the "eyecandy power fantasy" Solo Leveling.
Hopefully one of these "Web Toon" stories is well written someday so I can finally eat my words.
False_Baby86282025-12-28 17:26
There are many amazing webtoons, or manhwa, whatever you want to call it. But half of them will never see an adaptation, and If they do they end up being butchered.
abandoned_idol2025-12-28 17:39
My favorite webtoons in "recent" memory are "Space Boy" (western author published in Web Toon) and "Yumi's Cells" (the trope of each emotion/desire being represented by different imaginary sub-character inside one's head, this was prior to Disney's Inside-Out movie being produced, and the overworld being a woman who dates a series of different male characters).
I also read "Super Secret" (fairly unique character designs).
It's been ages since I've last visited the website now. I assume that they are monetizing it much more obnoxiously now, but maybe I should drop by to see if I can find a story worth reading (or pick up Space Boy again).
But I digress, I just want to be venomously toxic towards all Web Toon anime adaptations until one with good writing gets a quality adaptation. It's my way of jinxing one out.
I also read "Dice", just as bad as "Solo Leveling", but with an "eternally slow Korean teen soap opera" flavor on top. I still remember one scene being re-iterated in slomo over the length of 5 extremely long chapters (about 30 minutes of scrolling, so much white negative space).
RyviusRan2025-12-28 19:53
There are good Korean webtoons, but the most popular stuff is usually bland surface level wish fulfillment.
One Korean webtoon that I liked was "I will die soon".
Extreme_Ad58732025-12-29 07:36
Webtoons can be amazing, I actually prefer them over manga most of the time, it's just that most of them never get made into anime, and if they do, they get a pretty low budget and end up just bad.
I'll say check out Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, my personal favourite and widely acclaimed to be one of the best manhwas plot wise.
I've heard it's also getting an anime next year, but I don't know why they decided to swap fantasy swords with bland guns, so I've pretty low expectations about the anime.
If you want some other recs, you can check out Trash of the Count Family or SSS class suicide hunter, also top tier recs.
sunnydayz572025-12-28 19:44
I definitely get what you mean, I've enjoyed shows that have casts mostly made up of bishounen before, but there usually has to be something else going on in the story beyond just different kinds of pretty boy archetypes. Like there actually has to be an interesting storyline with plot progression and the boys have to have fleshed out personalities, have well developed relationships, and go through a lot of character growth beyond just having one quirky character trait or loving the female mc. Fruits Basket, Free! or even Ouran HSHC to an extent are good examples of this.
Watching idol anime or otome game adaptations that is just centered around different types of pretty boys being as swoonworthy as possible for the female viewer is just boring to me personally.
aaa1e2r32025-12-28 13:38
Reverse Harem series?
awesomenessofme12025-12-28 13:39
I'm not going to be too down on a series that was never made for me, but I will say: Shockingly edgy title for what it's actually about.
AceLuan542025-12-28 13:43
I don't know anything about ENHYPEN tbh but good for their fans
FluorescentShrimp2025-12-28 14:00
Nice to see animes like this get repped on the subreddit.
fuyu-no-hanashi2025-12-28 14:18
You guys this is by studio Troyca. Whatever it is I'm in.
tripleaamin2025-12-28 16:50
I at least will give it a try based on that. Plus, it's the only show I am watching on Friday besides Frieren.
PencilgonGiveIt2Ya2025-12-28 16:01
it's been a year daddy...
metaaltheanimefan2025-12-28 21:53
