Where can I watch Dragon Ball?

So, a relative of mine saw my drawings and wanted me to draw him a little manga where Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, and a few others fight Frieza. However, I've never watched Dragon Ball, so I'm missing the information to draw it. Now I'd like to ask where you can actually watch Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z?

I just checked, and the streaming provider that was shown to me doesn't have either Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z.

Thanks anyway.

At least in the USA, they're both available on Hulu/Disney+ and Crunchyroll (subbed & dubbed).

Finger_Weil_Loch2025-12-28 20:20

I live in Germany, Crunchyroll only has Dragon Ball movies here, and I can't check Disney+ right now.

Thanks anyway. I'll probably order the manga.

Heda-of-Aincrad2025-12-28 20:26

In that case, definitely make sure to get Dragon Ball Z. Gohan, Vegeta and Frieza are all characters from DBZ who don't appear in the original Dragon Ball.

Finger_Weil_Loch2025-12-28 20:42

Yes, I spoke with my relative and he apparently has all the parts. However, I also wanted to watch Dragon Ball because that's the prequel, isn't it?

LongjumpingShip36572025-12-28 21:14

In the original manga it's just one long story called Dragon Ball.

Dragon Ball Z is literally just the last couple arcs of the manga they only made it a separate anime to the Dragon Ball anime for marketing purposes.

Finger_Weil_Loch2025-12-28 21:36

Oh, yes, thank you for the information.

Heda-of-Aincrad2025-12-28 21:39

The English version of the manga actually does label the second half "Dragon Ball Z" and restart the count from vol 1 as well.

Heda-of-Aincrad2025-12-28 21:40

Yeah, Dragon Ball is the introduction to Goku and many of the other characters. The arc where they're battling Frieza is in DBZ though if you want reference pictures.

For the future you can use a vpn with streaming services to access what is available in other countries. It opens up a lot more shows.

MusubiKazesaru2025-12-28 20:15

The manga is probably a better reference for art.

Finger_Weil_Loch2025-12-28 20:21

Thanks for the great idea. I'm guessing my relative will have the manga. If not, I'll order them.

MusubiKazesaru2025-12-28 20:33

Toriyama's art is fantastic and his paneling is still unrivaled. The pacing of the manga is also superb despite the length.

The VizBig Dragon Ball 3-in-1 volumes are fantastic. Nice and large while having higher quality paper than most manga volumes. I just don't like that chapter covers are shunted to the back. They're very cost effective options too.

I do like the anime too. The best options are ironically fan releases of the series since DB has had problematic home releases.

Finger_Weil_Loch2025-12-28 20:39

I have to say, you're really good at expressing yourself. When I like something, I usually find it really hard to put into words what I like about it.

MusubiKazesaru2025-12-28 21:45

I'm no writer, but I think that after partaking in so many different works across many different mediums I have a strong idea of what works and what doesn't work and why that is.

Dragon Ball is also one of the series I know the most about.

GaimeGuy2025-12-28 21:44

The only way to truly experience the full genius of Toriyama's craft is in manga form. His art is iconic, and his paneling is *legendary.* Dragon Ball continues to be used as a reference for aspiring and professional manga artists. You'll see why

Enjoy the ride.

FreshPrinceOfRivia2025-12-28 20:35

I watch it on Crunchyroll

Finger_Weil_Loch2025-12-28 20:40

It's not available on Crunchyroll for me. Only Dragon Ball movies, and that's not what I need.

FreshPrinceOfRivia2025-12-28 20:49

I've had success using VPNs to access content that isn't available in my country on Crunchyroll, including DB. They don't seem to give a damn.

cppn022025-12-28 20:37

Why watch and not read it?

Finger_Weil_Loch2025-12-28 20:39

Yes, I've already decided to borrow the manga from my relative.

AdministrativeAd17092025-12-29 04:29

If you know the characters, just make up the story yourself. He wants you to draw it right? Be creative. That would be cool.

Finger_Weil_Loch2025-12-29 04:42

I don't know the characters, so I want to watch some videos about them to get to know them better.

AdministrativeAd17092025-12-29 04:44

okay... well I pm you a link

JonFrost2025-12-29 06:45

Think its on the internet archive iirc

DissKhorse2025-12-29 11:51

So you want a reference to draw something and you are going for the anime instead of the manga?

Finger_Weil_Loch2025-12-29 16:12

No, I decided to take the manga.
