Anime Recs for Mom :)
Hi everyone!
My moms never really liked anime because she thinks it’s all people wining and crying, but recently my dad got her to watch ‘eminence in shadows’ and she’s liked it so far. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for animes to show her. She liked the fact there’s strong females in it and i think she likes the magic/fantasy aspect. I know she would definitely prefer a dubbed version. Any help would be great! 😊
Let me know if you need any other information!! Thank you!

My favorite isekai, Sei is a great lady MC, and it’s got some good romance mixed with the magic/fantasy. I rewatch it often.
Another good one might be Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood which has many strong characters.
Apothecary Diaries
Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent
The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady
You could probably toss in some other genres that are adjacent like Campfire Cooking In Another World which is more about making delicious food.
I watched Akira, Vampire Hunter D (and bloodlust), Eatman, Iria: Zeiram, etc. (all the OVA era stuff that ran on SciFi channel back in the 2000’s) with my mom and it really informed my love of the medium. My mom loved hyper violent stuff so not your typical mom. Enjoy the time you have with her and I hope this helps.
- Apothecary diaries
- Spy x Family
- Bocchi the rock
If she’s alright with darker shows she’d probably love dungeon meshi
Juuni Kokuki
Seirei no Moribito
Michiko to Hatchin
Lupin the Third: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna
Ghost in the Shell
Cowboy Bebop
Black Lagoon
Baccano
It’s not fantasy but it’s incredibly touching and only 13 episodes. I watched it with my mum and she loved it (I don’t think it’s dubbed though)
Horimiya, if you like romance;
Mashle: Magic and Muscles, if you like comedy/magic;
I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, if you like romance, although it's quite sad.
Akatsuki no yona
