What to Watch Next? Loved Long Shonen + Some Variety (One Piece, Naruto, Black Clover, etc.)

Hey everyone,
I’ve been deep into anime for a while and just looking for my next watch. Here’s what I’ve seen and really enjoyed:

• One Piece (all-time favorite for the adventure and world-building)

• Naruto/Naruto Shippuden

• Black Clover

• Demon Slayer (great action and animation)

• Death Note (loved the mind games)

• Baki (brutal fights hit different)

• Your Lie in April (hit me hard emotionally)

I lean toward action-packed shonen with good fights, character growth, and epic stories, but I’m open to anything solid – thriller, drama, or more shonen vibes. No preferences on length, dub/sub, etc.

What should I pick up next? Avoid spoilers please!

Thanks!

If you want to try something long paced (74 episodes) try Monster, it's a slowburn mystery Thriller
Alternatively if you want peak hype action watch Gurren Lagann

jirayapain2025-12-29 09:22

Yes, length doesn’t matter. “One piece forever❤️” I’ll add this to my next watchlist, and get back here

Sasuke0pro2025-12-29 20:12

Gotta agree with Gurren Lagann, 10/10 hype show! Anime in its purest form!

CurrentDeep70912026-01-02 07:37

Gurren Lagann is bad it didn’t age well at all don’t watch

McLovett3252026-01-02 08:56

low tier Anti-Spiral bait, spin on

Koritorii2025-12-29 09:20

Gotto try Mob Psycho

jirayapain2025-12-29 09:23

Ty, added to watch list

your_ancestordaddy2025-12-29 09:21

I dont see bleach and fairy tale in your list. You might want to give them a try. My hero acedemia, fire force as well

jirayapain2025-12-29 09:24

Omg yes, i thought about bleach but forgot it. Ty ty

your_ancestordaddy2025-12-29 09:26

Enjoy. The last season is coming summer 2026

MusubiKazesaru2025-12-29 09:24

Yu Yu Hakusho (dub) and Hunter x Hunter are must watches. For HxH I suggest watching the 2011 anime, but to watch episode 1 of 1999 first.

Hajime no Ippo is my personal favorite series, make sure you watch the specials between S1 and S2. It's a boxing series and a good blend of shounen and sports

Bakuman, if you liked Death Note and enjoy shonen this is a great series from the same creative duo.

Clannad + After Story for some emotions

Angels Beats for even more emotions

Rurouni Kenshin for some classic Samurai content. I suggest the older anime and watching the Trust and Betrayal OVA after stopping at episode 62.

Kengan Ashura, a seinen MMA style brutal fighting series much like Baki.

Magi and its prequel Sinbad no Bouken, an enjoyable and Arabian flavored shounen series that should've gotten more than two seasons.

Undead Unluck a great newer series which just got a S2 announced

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - a must watch blend of various things you like

FMA Brotherhood - one of the best complete adaptations of a shounen series

jirayapain2025-12-29 09:28

I saw yu yu hakusho (Netflix live action) loved it. I’m gonna watch anime. Thank you

MusubiKazesaru2025-12-29 09:32

I've seen the trailers and it just looked too awful for me. If you enjoyed that the anime is going to blow you away.

RaltsLicker2025-12-29 09:25

gintama - it has a bit of a slow start (skip the first 2 episodes imo, made by someone else, pretty sure non cannon, and take places later in the series) , but might be one of the best comedies i've seen and eventually the action gets pretty good

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun - i'm a bit iffy on recommending this one since it follows almost every Isekai trope and i haven't seen the anime, but i enjoyed this, solid comedy and enjoy most of the cast

jirayapain2025-12-29 09:27

Ohh! Tx. Just watched overview of Gintama seems my type.

BestSlayer2025-12-29 09:47

I suggest you to wait with Gintama, if you have any other anime on your watch list.
Gintama has plenty of references to many anime series. Bassicly more anime you know, more fun you have watching Gintama.
Looking at your list, you should watch Bleach and Dragon Ball, at least few episodes.

Galle_2025-12-30 00:55

> i'm a bit iffy on recommending this one since it follows almost every Isekai trope

...what isekai tropes are we talking about here, exactly? Iruma isn't sent to a generic Dragon Quest knock off world, he doesn't have an "isekai superpower" (or rather, his isekai superpower is just his humanity), he faces genuine adversity (and not in a "dark deconstruction of isekai" way), the story is more about fun adventures and character development than it is about making numbers go up and power fantasy. Iruma *does* have a bunch of girls throwing themselves at him but that's the only isekai trope I can think of that fits the series.

1 Hunter x Hunter
If you like One Piece world-building and Naruto-style growth, this is essential.
Deep power system (Nen), strategic fights, and etc
(Adventure, mind games, and character evolution at an elite level)

2 Vinland Saga
Focuses on growth and depth rather than constant power-ups.

3 Code Geass
A must-watch if you loved Death Note.
High-stakes mind games mixed with action and tragedy.

jirayapain2025-12-29 09:30

Lot of people suggesting hxh (must be great), thank you.

Terrible_Vehicle80462025-12-29 09:32

Jujutsu kaisen, my hero academia, Hunter x hunter

gojosensei5002025-12-29 09:34

Since you have no preference for length, I am going to recommend some short ones you can binge quickly(12-24 episodes) and still some long ones

Erased

Deadman wonderland

Death parade

Jormungad

Kabaneri of the iron fotress

Beyond the boundary

The future diary

Golden kamuy

Summertime rendering

Shinobi no Ittoki

Castlevania

To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts

Engage kiss

Black lagoon

Tomodachi game

jirayapain2025-12-29 20:42

Wow, I’ve never seen any of these. Added to MAL!

PsychoSushi272025-12-29 09:49

You should definitely check out Kingdom. It's technically seinen but has a lot of battle shonen elements. There are currently 6 seasons at the moment and the manga is 800+ chapters long. It's about the unification of China under the Qin dynasty. You follow a slave's journey from a foot soldier to becoming a general and it is definitely an epic. However just be warned that the CGI in season 1-2 can be painful to watch and the 1st arc isn't really a true representation of the rest of the manga.

jirayapain2025-12-29 20:55

You’re the second for recommending kingdom, already added to MAL. Thanks.

It took almost year to get over with Naruto, Your lie in April, Your Name (reels/rewatch few eps) until i started with One Piece.

theseventhyonko2025-12-29 10:44

Attack on Titan, FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Dragon Ball Series, Bleach, Solo Leveling

jirayapain2025-12-29 20:45

Wached Solo leveling when dropped🔥. DB, bleach added for next. Tx

Sad_Pie19112025-12-29 11:01

Maybe jujutsu kaisen?, even tho season 2 is more action-packed then season 1 i guess

ElKevixlevix12025-12-29 12:14

Reading Twin Star Exorcists is a great shonen manga that's finished and is one of the best shonen manga of today; one of my best shonen reading experiences.

jirayapain2025-12-29 20:45

I see, so far i’m only reading one piece manga. I’ll try this. Tx

Mateolopess142025-12-29 14:07

Code Geass, 100% recommended.

jirayapain2025-12-29 20:47

Oh, Code is in my MAL but haven’t started yet. I’ll watch this after hxh.

Squintz_Palledorous2025-12-29 14:21

Kingdom - the animation of the first season is rough but if you can get through it I promise the show is worth it. The first cour of the newest season just finished so there is plenty to watch, and this show does Grand battles better than anything else I've seen.

jirayapain2025-12-29 20:49

Oh, i’ve watched one piece without skipping single ep. So animation doesn’t matter as far as story. Tx, added this to MAL.

willwstewart2025-12-29 21:59

Based on what you’ve mentioned here are a few I think you may like:

Record of Ragnarok
MSG: Iron Blooded Orphans
Blue Lock (ironically a sports anime but the games come off as battles and are really intense!)
Solo Leveling (the fights are so top tier)
Fairy Tale might be up your alley to me it comes across similarly to One Piece but admittedly not as good, but with less seasons/episodes it is less daunting

Last, pretty sure you’ve seen this one already: Attack on Titan

I LOVED Black Clover, I was sad it never got finished. I have read any other suggestions so I apologize if there are any dupes.

Cheers

Much-Fortune27372026-01-01 05:09

Code geass is really good it has the mind games like death note but with really good fight scenes and twists

Chadzuma2026-01-01 10:12

Watch Gurren Lagann and Parasyte, two single-season masterpieces that need no introduction

Akame ga Kill is messier but super hardcore

Log Horizon worldbuilding is sick

Bleach and Jigokuraku are hype battle anime

Danmachi combines strong worldbuilding with hype shounen battle arcs and excellent themes

Re:Zero has beautiful drama and acting masterclasses from damn near every character in the story. Like every actor on the show is giving a top 5 performance of their career absolutely cooking their scenes. 3 best performances IMO are Subaru Echidna and Capella

Katanagatari is like actual high art, you kinda have to know kanji and some lore to fully get this one as is common with nisioisin projects but even if you don't the visuals and style will still blow you away

Ok_Cauliflower55262026-01-01 18:12

Try Steins Gate
I love this anime
2seasons 1movie i guess

OscarrDaGrouch2026-01-03 05:55

Hunter x Hunter is better than everything u listed minus one piece. Surprised you watched a lot of those without seeing HxH.

HxH is elite.

Full Metal Alch is great.

Gintama is good if u want more comedy based.

MHA is good.

New_Read_852026-01-16 06:27

I like naruto more but I can't really give an opinion bc I've put HxH on pause. I stopped at the start of chimera ant arc because I felt it was slow so i went to naruto now I've nearly finished. should I continue HxH?
