S1 was actually a great series. What a lovely depiction of a healthy couple doing cool couple things.
Too bad [Season 2] >!was such a travesty!<
notabear872025-12-29 15:13
Was S2 that bad? I genuinely remember alm….oh wait. [anime spoilers] >!The douchebag kid hero right? Ok yeah that was pretty dogshit!<
nicklnack_19502025-12-29 15:15
That punch was top tier tho
chewie_332025-12-29 17:15
Yup, S2 was worth it just because of it.
cppn022025-12-29 17:18
All time satsifying moment.
sagevallant2025-12-29 16:10
I mean, that was kind of the point of the character / story, wasn't it?
zz20002025-12-29 21:34
Exactly this; plus it ties back to how twisted their world is.
PeaceAlien2025-12-29 16:13
I remember when the baddie got their punishment it felt so good. Other than that, yeah it was bad
mekerpan2025-12-29 15:24
I enjoyed S2 just fine, even if a bit less than S1.
zz20002025-12-29 21:44
A lot of viewers tend to focus on the Red-Ruti relationship as the highlight of the anime, but for me the real highlight is the world building - like how S2's antagonist shows the horror of living in a world where people live under the whims of a selfish(?) agenda'd ruling god willing to manipulate and mess with people's minds to reach it's perceived ideal of a greater good.
Especially when later on [novel spoilers]>!when they go reinvestigate the ancient elf ruins, and Demis purposely possesses Van to kill Red because he's getting in the way; and you can see Red's anger at Demis for treating people like playthings.!<
emeraldarcana2025-12-30 01:21
I personally feel that if I want a story about how the protagonists figure out the true nature of a world and kill God, I can get a few dozen shows and a hundred video games with that story.
But seeing a relationship like Red and Rit’s handled in a mature, responsible way and depicted as a healthy couple? That’s a rarity.
Attitude_Gal2025-12-29 15:07
i watched s01 it was good and i still think it was a one time thing... can't rewatch coz seen similar story lines alot
Xx420EdgeLord69xX2025-12-29 15:10
One of the best 'banished from the party' anime made, and a top choice for those of us always looking for the tiny handful of anime willing to actually show a real couple being a real couple without inundating the MC with countless harem-bait waifus and nervous 'allergic to girls' bumbling tension diffusion.
It's such a shame the author decided to do all that garbage with the sister. It's so unnecessary and drags the second season down hard. Still worth watching for the Red and Rit moments and development, but the second season would have been so much better if it still focused almost exclusively on them.
KingOfCuteAndFunny2025-12-29 18:26
Agree to disagree.
Atharaphelun2025-12-29 19:07
I stopped watching the second season of this anime because of that whole sister thing. Such a shame.
qwertyqwerty45672025-12-29 23:01
was it [this](https://old.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1ghbc8d/well_im_his_sister_i_cant_marry_him_banished_from/) sister thing?
Loved that part

Me too, it was so unnecesary..
HeavensRoyalty2025-12-29 15:14
Such an underrated show. Absolutely love it
ReddiTrawler20212025-12-29 15:36
This may be first isekai I saw that actually had a implicit sex scene. I think it made having more such scenes in isekai more common.
Xx420EdgeLord69xX2025-12-29 15:41
Been a while since I saw season 1 but I don't think it's actually an isekai. I think it's just a straight up fantasy show.
ReddiTrawler20212025-12-29 15:43
You are correct. He didn't come from another world, he was just banished. I was thinking isekai in terms of "living an life outside from previous constraints" - broad strokes.
EldritchCarver2025-12-29 20:42
Are you one of those people who think a Pop-Tart qualifies as a sandwich?
ReddiTrawler20212025-12-29 22:56
I would consider myself a mid-level otaku who knows enough famous anime but is not full-time invested.
If you are a veteran, please pardon me and do not look down on me.
Captincorpse2025-12-30 03:06
I would say your are not even in any otaku level if you don't know basic definitions of anime genres. Isekai literally just means "other world", that's it. When tied to anime, it means to transfer to another world that isn't their own, it doesn't have to be fantasy, they don't have to die and reincarnate, or have to have power fantasy harem crap. They just have to move from world A (theirs) to world B

It’s a shame they didn’t continue the manga. This is one of, if not the best anime/manga in this setting.
zz20002025-12-29 21:13
Given the manga only covered up to S1, it is a shame because I would have loved to see the manga's take on S2.
Roboglenn2025-12-29 16:56
Definitely a plus in this series' favor. The MC isn't some neutered wimp nor is he allergic to the affection the girl sends his way.
And better than that, they have a natural healthy relationship progression.
snktiger2025-12-31 12:57
better than the assassin that's more powerful than the hero.
SpankyDankWank692025-12-29 17:03
Amazing
RoachIsCrying2025-12-29 17:16
Just finished the latest volume this week. Love this series
Alnored2025-12-29 20:10
How do the feelings of a younger sister develop, or is it such a kind of fanservice which eventually leads to nothing? I'm asking for a friend 👉👈.
RoachIsCrying2025-12-29 20:13
In the later volumes she's just being a loving sister to Gideon and that's all. There was a small incest tease but the author seems to killed it off in the later volumes probably found it obnoxious
KingOfCuteAndFunny2025-12-30 00:03
That's a shame.
Alnored2025-12-30 01:43
Thanks for the clarification. So it's just a small fan service. Although imouto is still cute.
zushiba2025-12-29 20:54
I loved this anime. It had a great relationship in it which itself is pretty different from the rest. But it also has one of the all time best, most satisfying *shit eating bad guy gets absolutely dusted* moments in anime history.
Peak punching even One Punch man would approve.
thetruegmon2025-12-29 21:35
Man, we're really down bad this week aren't we
qwertyqwerty45672025-12-29 23:00
I know that reddit compresses the shit out of videos, but im ngl, you really should change your settings a bit, because this clip looks bad even by reddit standards.
