First thing is to start thinking of anime as a medium, not a genre. So there isn't anything like beginner anime or the best starter anime, that's going to be different depending on your personal taste. What sort of fiction do you like in general?
Koritorii2025-12-29 21:19
Yeah finding out what sort of fiction you like is important

Do you like Flashy Fights and high amount of action, something with a lot of blood and gore or something more tame
DrFetusRN2025-12-29 21:30
Dragon Ball Z is the OG action anime for most here born in the 90s
HaouRex2025-12-29 21:44
Gundam 00 would be good option.

Fight > stronger > fight stronger opponent > repeat or more thinking/brainiac story line?
What type of action? Martial Arts, superpowers, weapons, demons, something else?
Some good ones based on what you said, in different sub genres:
Sports: Hajime no ippo, Kuroko no basket
Shounen (often supernatural or super powers): Dragonball Z, attack on Titan, my hero academia, full metal alchemy Brotherhood, hunter x hunter 2011
Gun action: psycho pass, jormungand, black lagoon
Martial arts: uh... Like, I know there's some but not sure what to put. Nothing comes to mind as safe, since it's either ecchi (lots of nudity) or not beginner friendly. Maybe Baki and Kengan Ashura?
Supernatural: Hellsing ultimate, Castlevania, mob psycho, death note, demon slayer
Some of these fit multiple genres, just a few samples. Excluded the longest ones like Naruto, one piece and Gintama because it's a lot of episodes to begin with.

Np. Hajime might be a bit hard to get into if you're not into the older style of animation, even though it's great. For some people, especially new watchers, graphics/modern style can matter a lot.
janesvg2025-12-29 21:17
jjk is always a good start aot too ive had alot of friends that watched this as their first animes if u like action and good story too
HaouRex2025-12-29 21:22
I think would be better if they not start with Mainstream.
idkza2025-12-29 21:36
The whole point of mainstream is that general people who don’t usually watch anime still enjoy it. A new anime watcher is more likely to enjoy JJK than a show like Mob Psycho
HaouRex2025-12-29 21:47
Problem that to much mainstream eventually make them either bored or unable to find they own road.
DarkSaiyanGoku2025-12-29 21:46
They can start wherever they want to.
HaouRex2025-12-29 21:49
Sure. I just say i personaly would recommend something good instead something popular.
Dumey2025-12-29 23:54
Often times things that are popular are because they are good!
HaouRex2025-12-30 00:58
very very rare case.
Altruistic_Shame81632025-12-29 21:24
Action and a good story is exactly what i am looking for, do you know a website or app to watch?
HaouRex2025-12-29 21:24
Give some clue to us what kinda story you want. For example what kinda Book, Movies or Televison Series you like usualy.
Koritorii2025-12-29 21:29
This is also a great question to answer
Left-Night-11252025-12-29 21:33
Record of Grancrest war
Gundam witch from Mercury
DrFetusRN2025-12-29 21:35
My Hero Academia is pretty good. Cowboy Bebop for those want a mature drama anime mixed with just the right amount of action. Full Metal Alchemist is another strong recommendation
Altruistic_Shame81632025-12-29 21:38
Full Metal Alchemist is the one I might start on. Seems interesting!
idkza2025-12-29 21:40
JJK, AoT, Vinland Saga, and Demon Slayer are all great starting action anime. Death Note is also very good too but is more psychological than action with fights.
Vii_Arious2025-12-29 21:43
Kanon Air and Clannad should be a good start.
Akagikin2025-12-29 22:20
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is solid. It maintains a spot as one of my favourites and it has a bit of pretty much everything.
You might also like Attack on Titan, Bleach, Is it Wrong to Try to Pick up Girls in the Dungeon (ignore the title), Solo Leveling, The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic, and Clevatess. I've tried to pick a selection that vary from each other while still sticking within the realms of action/fantasy/adventure.
Wavenstein12025-12-29 22:47
Death Note
mjf3142025-12-29 23:03
If you like action, fantasy, and adventure, [Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood](https://myanimelist.net/anime/5114/Fullmetal_Alchemist__Brotherhood) is a good starting point. Almost everyone likes it, so it should be a pretty safe choice.
DreamWrld7772025-12-29 23:21
Death Note is a good start
vinnybagadohnut2025-12-30 01:53
Dandadan, jujutsu kaisen, dragon ball/z/, mob psycho 100, one punch man, dorohedoro, death note, mannn i can keep going lol
Dramatic_Complex_6722025-12-30 01:55
I've been watching anime for 3 decades. For beginners I recommend The following complete anime.
- code Geass
- full metal alchemist brotherhood
- Naruto
- my hero academia (recently complete. One last special episode in May 2026)
Then you can venture into some other genres like sports
- Haikyuu!! (95% complete. We're just waiting for the final movie)
