Do you recommend watching the Blue Exorcist anime or reading the manga?

A while ago someone recommended Blue Exorcist to me, and I stopped watching season 1 of Episode 8, but I felt it had a lot of filler. I saw somewhere that season 6 is coming out; what do you recommend?

I've only watched it, but if you have a problem with filler, simply skip it.

If you check a list like [this](https://www.animefillerguide.com/anime/blue-exorcist/), then you can see which is filler and which is not to help with your decision (only 10 in total). Out of the 8 you watched for instance, only 1 episode was a filler, the rest were all canon.

As someone who has watched the anime and read the manga simultaneously, S1 does contain a lot of bloat. Plus it has the anime original ending present. S2 onwards its much better though, with no anime-only shenanigans.

The manga would probably be less confusing due to how Ao no Exorcist started off. That being said it's not a series I'd particularly recommend.

I preferred the anime to the manga to be honest. Seeing it in action was just more satisfying, even if there was some filler.
