Cyberpunk Edgerunners is the first time I watch an anime dubbed and it was amazing

This is the first time I watch an anime in English dubbing. I've never consciously watch anime not in their original language. It's not that I think all dubs are bad, in fact, I grew up watching anime in English on Animax like Yu Yu Hakusho, DN Angle, Ranma 1/2 etc. But that's because I don't have any choice.

But for this anime, considering the settings, the game it was adapted and how I heard so many praises about the dub, I felt compelled to watch it in dub. And I'm sure I wouldn't get the same experience if I watch it in its original Japanese.

The soundtrack blends so much with the scenes. Sometimes anime would use songs that has a similar vocal with the character so that the audience would get the feeling that the character themselves is singing the soundtrack. And this is exactly what happens with the ost I Really Wanna Stay feels like Lucy is pouring her heart out in the lyrics. That's why when that final scene arrives (if you know you know what I mean) it hits you like a truck

Well buddy don't listen to people there are many many good dubs of anime out there....go watch them all....dubs over subs all day and I'll stand on this hill til I die

I always watch anime subbed as a lot of times, the dub misses speech inflections and tonal points.

This is one of the rare ones that's better dubbed!

I think the vibe also. Like I couldn't imagine watching Jojo any part in any other language besides Japanese

In Jojo, irrespective of the vibes, half the characters aren't even Japanese.

give gachiakuta a try, the dub is amazing, and everyone who says Dub is shit, you're entitled to your own opinion. But dub doesn't show the same emotion as Sub that's a fact.

I am watching Gachiakuta now but in Sub. I'm sure the dub is amazing it's just that I prefer the sub for most of my anime.

Modern dubs are pretty good most of the time.

That's a hill I'm willing to die on. My only gripe is that they should start talking normally instead of trying to appeal otakus. They usually talk normally but there's always some character who's voice is just unwatchable.

And this is the real reason I want to learn Japanese, so I can turn subs off and just... watch the show.

There's plenty of excellent dubs out there like Hellsing Ultimate and Samurai Champloo, but I will admit that some dubs are bad translations and completely miss the tone of the original. It doesn't happen as frequently these days, but back in the dark ages...

English voice actors are so freaking good, I implore you to watch all your favorites in English. Fun fact, Fem V is a voice actress found quite frequently in Anime, and her range from certifiable badass to sweet little cinnamon roll is crazy work. I like to challenge myself to see how many actors I can recognize. Like David Martinez being the same actor as Tanjiro in Demon Slayer.

I don't know much about EN anime VA but I know like really famous ones. I recognize Matthew "It's high noon" Mercer's voice from miles

Heavenly Delusion, also on Netflix, has a super good dub. I didn't even consider switching to subs
