I’ve done my fair share of watching romance anime… and I’m running out. I’d love any movie or show recommendations (ones that give you butterflies and make you feel warm!!). Def not the slow burner type or fast.. just something in the middle...

First, Pseudo Harem. A couple of high schoolers meet in drama club, the girl is a really good actress and plays the part of the boy's harem by acting out various archetypes. Single season full story, very fun and heartwarming.

Second may or may not work as well but I adore, Quintessential Quintuplets. Male lead isn't a boring self insert, all five sisters have real personalities, and across the 2 seasons and a movie have some very fun scenarios.

I would say Taisho Otome Fairy Tale. Its also only episodes and more focused on the romance. Saints Magic Power focuses a lot on the fantasy like her goal of becoming a saint.

this is the one you’re looking for - i can go on and on about how its above and beyond nearly every other show, but it speaks for itself.

it stands at the top for me alongside Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity - both very well written thematically and narratively.

Clannad would be the #1 for me. Great slice-of-life, character development and has some depth in the story itself. 2 seasons with 24 ep. each if I recall. Let us know what you think once you finished it! :)

It's a romantic comedy about a dumb, but cute, good-hearted girl who falls for a callous, but genius, athletic high school boy. Unlike most comedies, both characters, for being as extreme as they are act very human instead of like written characters that have to follow an established personality. Both characters make the same mistakes until they actually learn from their mistakes. The characters grow, evolve, and become better people beyond my initial description and ***the plot actually moves forward*** beyond that of any other romance anime that exists. It's the only romance anime that actually has ~~redacted~~ mid-show, and like real people they still have problems and have to resolve them and grow.

It does have a lot of the comedy part too, which usually leads into some sort of character growth. It doesn't just stay a high school rom-com, the timeline moves forward.

There's only one thing I don't like about it: [Itazura na kiss spoilers]>!At a point or two it gets viscerally real and people actually get slapped,!< but that aside, it's very good.

And there's a guy in it that wears shades outside! Because he's too cool for school, while acting like a fool.

Overall, best one out there because of the character growth, actual continual plot moving forward, and realistic, but very polarizing people.

The only reason we didn't get more was the author was in the process of moving and hit her head, went into a coma and died at the age of 38. Her manga was still being published until then.

Toradora, a classic.
And Clannad.
I don't know why people sleep on Clannad. It's a classic masterpiece. People around me always say the art look old, but if you don't mind the art, this anime is one of those life-changing stories you will experience.

But my favorite romance is Oregairu. It's not so much about romance but mainly about interpersonal relationships. Are your relationships genuine or superficial? This story's theme and Hachiman's development really stroke a chord in my teenage and young adult years.

Listen, you should keep watching "don't toy with me miss nagatoro".
I don't know in which episode you dropped it, but I guarantee that it becomes better later on.

I don't know if you understood this but the main core of the show is 'social awkwardness'.

Nagatoro doesn't know how to act so she often teases/bullies the mc.

And the mc doesn't know how to confront nagatoro or other people so he becomes a shut-in.

As you watch the show you see them slowly grow and have their character development.

Oh, and here's an anime you should watch: call of the night. A love storie between a vampire and a human. Oh, and it has action and fight scenes later on too.
