If you watched Eva and Death Note, … hard to consider you a ‘beginner’. You literally dived into the deep end.
Pick a genre you like, and randomly choose.
(Anyway, based on those, I’d be inclined to suggest Psycho Pass or Ghost in the Shell)

Code Geass

Season one of One Piece just finished. That's a pretty good one😁
Aggravating_Lock_7202025-12-30 05:32
One PEAK looks so good I might watch it soon after Attack on Titan (after I watch the anime's recommended to me)
abandoned_idol2025-12-30 06:10
This is the one abnormally long and badly paced anime, so I'd consider either reading the manga or choosing shows that are considerably shorter.
If you do watch OP, good luck!!!
Wooden-Strawberry4642025-12-30 08:32
Even with bad pacing it's still one of the best out there, shows you how great of an anime it is right?
abandoned_idol2025-12-30 16:21
How good of a story it is (the writing and voice acting).
The anime adaptation itself is atrocious. (Production, quality, story's pacing, needless repetition-iteration.
The amazing thing about the anime is how the fans are so forgiving of studio Toei (bunch of masochists, myself included).
Edit: I do love One Piece btw! Ugh, the anime is objectively an abomination, which is why I am so excited over 2026 turning seasonal + the seasonal Studio Wit remake of East Blue arc.
Ok_Asparagus92922025-12-30 05:24
For beginners, i'd suggest start with newer anime like Kaiju no. 8 and Dandadan - visual, entertainment and easy pacing. You also get the true experience of waiting weekly for episodes... or months for the next season 😅

Lupin the Third got me into Anime so that's my suggestion

Steins Gate

There are no wrongs answers and thousands of choices.
If you want a recommendation, either "Dandadan" or "Medalist", but again, watch anything and you'll find something good.
I can't imagine a newbie being able to find mediocre anime (those don't get discussed as often).

Depends on what you're looking for, it's like walking into a library and saying you want some books to read.
See [the automoderator comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1pz809q/is_there_any_anime_recommendations_for_a_beginner/nwo8wcr/) for resources, but some that *I* liked:
* [Odd Taxi](https://livechart.me/anime/10349) — A taxi driver gets involved in a series of interweaving events.
* [Run with the Wind](https://livechart.me/anime/3314) — Bonding through striving for the top university relay marathon in Japan.
* [Baccano!](https://livechart.me/anime/3601) — A mix of madcap mobsters run into each other with links running back through history.
* [Yuri!!! on Ice](https://livechart.me/anime/2097) — A star ice skater tries to get back into the game after falling into a slump.
* [The Great Passage](https://livechart.me/anime/2083) — A look at how we think about words via attempting to make a dictionary.
* [Serial Experiments Lain](https://livechart.me/anime/3597) — A mind-bending exploration of technology and humanity in an increasingly-connected world.

What are you looking for; can you narrow it down? Do you just want shows that are most similar to those two, or do you have any specific genres or aspects in mind? Release date range, movies or shows, finished or airing, popular or niche etc.
I would generally recommend that you go browsing on an anime database website like [Anilist.co](http://Anilist.co) or [MyAnimeList.net](http://MyAnimeList.net), because they have an index of essentially every anime ever released and filters+sorting to help you find things you're looking for. Descriptions, images, and reviews. You can browse by rating to see what is generally well received recently or all-time, or browse by what's trending, and so on.
Another tip is to use ChatGPT/Gemini/etc., and tell them which anime's you've seen, what you liked and disliked about them, and have it suggest more anime for you. They're very good at that since they've scanned everything on the internet and have categorized every anime basically. Unlike us anime fans who maybe have been watching anime for a long time, but we all still have our limited biased knowledge in comparison.
For example, I'd recommend some classics like Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, and Samurai Champloo. But that's just because those were some of my favorite anime as a teenager and they imprinted on me, plus they happen to be on a lot of 'greatest anime of all time' lists. There are lots of highly rated, popular anime, that I still haven't seen so I wouldn't think to suggest them. That goes for everyone. My suggestions or those lists are very subjective; without guidance from you on what you're actually looking for, the suggestions you're going to get are just going to reflect whatever that person's favorite anime happens to be as long as it's remotely similar in any way to those two shows that you mentioned.
Cluelessteen2222025-12-30 06:25
Toradora If u like romance
Cluelessteen2222025-12-30 06:26
Naruto or jujutsu kaisen
xKweh2025-12-30 06:37
Full metal alchemist brotherhood is your best first anime/anime for beginners. Story is fantastic, animation for its time is amazing, characters are all memorable. And it’s long enough that you can sink some time into it but not too long it becomes a chore
xKweh2025-12-30 06:39
DONT WATCH ALL THE HYPE,FLASHY, MOST POPULAR ANIMES. You will literally ruin your idea of what a good anime is because all you will want is top tier animation. I recommend starting with older animes build your way up because lots of people willingly ignore solid anime’s because animation isn’t million dollar budget per episode

something like love is war would probably be pretty fun for ya

Samurai champloo
It's a very beginner friendly anime
