Good isekai where the mc doesn’t get a harem, has one love interest, and isn’t just insanely op?

So far, I’ve had a lot of trouble finding one that fits this sort of thing! Even the ones with a chill or even polite mc give him a harem for no reason!! I just want a normal one if it exists please! Thanks in advance!!

Isekai tend to be literary-RPGs where the protagonist becomes insanely unopposed and omnipotent, be it male or female (they'll adapt anything on the floor).

For good romance, I'd stray away from fantasy. Fantasy romance is very rare (bad fantasy romance is very common though).

The one good isekai has a female protagonist. Let me know if you still want to see that.

For the isekai I mentioned, it's called "Ascendance of a Bookworm". The first 3 seasons have low production values, and the premise seems dull/mediocre at first, but soon develops and reveals a much more interesting world. Season 4 is in production and appears to be a big step up in animation quality.

For good fantasy anime (though these are not isekai), there is "Dungeon Meshi", "Frieren", "Spice and Wolf" (this one has a 1 on 1 romance come to think of it), "Made in Abyss", and "Shadow House".

And if you want a Lord of the Rings knock-off, there's "The Faraway Paladin".

If you want to see grief in an isekai anime, "Hai to Hensou no Grimgar" does that decently (but is otherwise nothing special).

Most of the female centered isekai have one love interest and the MCs aren't OP. Example is How Raeliana Ended up at Dukes Mansion. The tropes are different from male isekai though so it might not fit what you're looking for.

For male isekai Re Zero is the obivous one for no harem or OP MC. I believe Cautious Hero has a single love interest but MC is OP.

The MC is still young so romance isn’t really a focus, but it’s not going to turn into a harem based on what’s been shown so far. And the relationship they do show seems pretty healthy as far as anime goes

The MC is conventionally pretty weak. His strength comes from identifying, recruiting, and leading strong subordinates

I am really looking forward to season 3. The romance in it is so well paced throughout the first two seasons. They didn't just throw a girl at him in ep1 and skip all the development. It takes the whole 2 seasons for it to really settle in and feel like these are two people with their own lives who fit really well together.

It's a really goooood one.

The MC is isekai'ed into a magical world but... She can't use magic. That's make her not OP, at all.

In the same way the romance part is well done because it's a thing that starts slow, but they bond through hardship. And the dynamic is funny and cute, and not just "you are the MC, you are incredible, I love you". They both have their own problems and goals.

Also, I like it when the Isekai MC is seen as weird and doesn't integrate perfectly in the setting of the world. And it has consequences.

other characters in the show would one shot him. (mostly his own party probably but who knows- im sure other S ranks exist). but its not like Mukoda is strong enough to kill Gods. which isnt uncommon in isekai power fantasies.

his skills are prefect suited for the activity he does most, *cooking*. he wouldnt be able to solo dungeons or clear A rank quests by himself. i think thats pretty fair to say. other OP MCs do these type of things before morning coffee.

its not like he can buy f-22s or abrams tanks from the online shop. he refers to it as an online grocery specifically. useful but clearly limited. so his one true unique OP skill isnt really that powerful from a combat perspective.

his other skills like blessings from gods and item box can probably be found on other powerful characters in the setting (we saw an example from the elf guild master using his own item box skill). my two cents. cheers.

Tamer rating is determined by the beast they tame, is it not?

Even though He didn't tame his familiars conventionally, but he is as OP as a Tamer can get in fantasy setting.

It is so good but I guess it's lack of popularity has to do with it's realism instead of just escapism slop. Being an adventurer is dangerous and not easy and killing for the first time is hard.

It's just regular old fantasy, not an isekai (if we're honest most isekai lose any plot relevance to the reincarnation very fast anyway) but Record of Grancrest War largely meets your criteria and might be right up your alley.

If no love interest at all is alright with you I recommend Digimon Adventure (1999 Version).

Digimon Tamers comes to mind but that is more of a reverse Isekai with Digimon coming to the human world and 2/3 of the series taking place in the human world. Its good but a bit of a slow burn. But the protagonist has a love interest. But just 1.

It's underrated, another one is The Too Perfect Saint. It isn't an Isekai but feels like one. Female lead, but she is overpowered. No harem, only one Love interest. This one too is underrated, it's a hidden gem from Spring 2025, so hidden that it doesn't even appear on anichart of spring 2025 for some reason idk why, so garnt missed to cover it in his youtube videos.

Most anime with Female lead doesn't have Harem btw
