What are your Underrated Anime of 2025?

With this year reaching it's conclusion want to see if there is any anime that was under the radar. Anime that either started and or finished in 2025.

My top pick is Orb: On the Movements of the Earth which ended in March, Cleveatess, and Apocalypse Hotel felt like these ones weren't talked about much. What are your picks?

Toujima Tanzaburou wa Kamen Rider ni Naritai

Cain_draws2025-12-30 16:01

The fight between Kamen Rider and Tackle went hard as hell.

Like, When it ended, I stood up from my seat!

Mr-Dumbest2025-12-30 15:37

Only seen 4 animes from 2025 lineup and only one that I think could help consider underrated (not sure how popular it was) is "Secrets of Silent Witch"

Ordinary_Ice_56842025-12-30 15:53

It was pretty talked about on X so wouldn’t consider it underrated. Actually one of my top 5 anime of the year

RGBkano2025-12-30 15:38

None of those anime you mentioned are underrated

SouekiSennoSTM2025-12-30 15:40

- Tasokare Hotel (#1 new series of year)
- Sorairo Utility
- Ameku Takao no Suiri Karte
- Gnosia
- Ballpark de Tsukamaete!
- Debu to Love to Ayamachi to!
- A Mangaka's Weirdly Wonderful Workplace
- Shirohiyo - Reincarnated as a Neglected Noble: Raising My Baby Brother with Memories from My Past Life
- Leviathan
- Shabake
- Fermat no Ryouri

Derallerechtere2025-12-30 15:41

A ninja and assassin living together/Bad girl are so underrated

Summer Pockets

**Me and the Alien MuMu**

Rufus_king112025-12-30 15:43

Kowloon Generic Romance, Clevatess and Ruri Rock's where my hidden gems (in the sense that they weren't as widely discussed as other shows) this year. I also really enjoyed Orb, but that started airing in 2024.

enigma7x2025-12-30 15:54

Yeah Kowloon was a cool tight little sci fi.

andy_sama972025-12-30 15:45

CLEVATESSS

Spidermanbuddy2025-12-30 15:45

May I ask for one final thing?

Let this grieving soul retire is still underrated

Honey Lemon Soda

Zenshu

The Gorilla God's go to Girl

Kijin Gentosho

Detectives these days are crazy! (this is the one that deserves the most recognition)

Common-Somewhere-7462025-12-30 15:50

I would say New Panty and Stocking

Inb4 you say its pretty known and its not underrated,
Its MAL rating even the 1st season is below 8 which is criminal for how good this anime is even just in the animation. Also with todays era that people will cancel you for doing and liking fanservice, this show will be surely frown upon.

zool7142025-12-30 15:52

I dunno maybe Zatsu Tabi

DagZeta2025-12-30 16:10

I mostly found Zatsu Tabi to be just fine, though at least pretty charming. But man, they totally nailed the landing with that one. The final episode was really satisfying and tied it all together quite nicely.

Turkey

LeagueofSOAD2025-12-30 16:06

Nah, that one was bad.

ClemFire2025-12-30 20:00

Lowkey I feel like Turkey gaslit me into enjoying it. The character drama promised in E1 was delivered just not with the plot most were expecting. It goes off the rails but somehow works for me. Comparing it to another original this year with crazy plot twists Dusk Beyond the End of the World, the difference in execution is night and day. Not one of my favorites but I enjoyed it and respect its writers to sticking to their guns.

il8872025-12-30 15:54

From Bureaucrat to Villainess — a fun and unconventional isekai. More underwatched than underrated tho

Ordinary_Ice_56842025-12-30 15:54

Betrothed to my Sisters Ex

A Star Brighter than the Sun

hopeydb2025-12-30 15:58

Plus Sized Misadventures in Love! Really good anime and it is a blend of mystery and laughs!

Dumey2025-12-30 15:58

Kowloon Generic Romance is my favorite show of 2025, and I feel like I see it on almost no one else's lists.

Not sure if people maybe found the ending too surreal/pretentious and weren't pleased with how the mystery resolved? I thought it did a great job of thematically tying together a lot of the story threads and themes.

And the show is absolutely beautifully drawn. A big theme of the show is the sense of nostalgia. So choosing to draw this show in a style that evokes older anime we might be nostalgic for as well just fit so well. It was clear that the visual designs and cinematography on display were all so intentional and deeply woven into the presentation of the story itself.

In a world of action and rom coms that define 90% of anime, a cool sci-fi mystery drama is something we only get once in a blue Pluto. (Sorry bad joke) I wonder if some people that would really enjoy Kowloon Generic Romance were turned off by the art style and title, expecting it to be some shoujo Romance show, when it is anything but. It's a Seinen Mystery, which should be applauded!

sleek_assassin2025-12-30 15:58

Ling Cage - It’s Chinese 3d/Cgi anime so not many people know about it, but my god it’s peak especially S2 which aired this year. Story, Characters, Animation and Music everything is on point in it.

Kingdom - S6 aired in fall season and as usual not many people talk about it.

This Monster wants to eat me

Apocalypse Hotel

I have a Crush at Work - good adult office romance

Once upon a Witch’s Death

Food for Soul

Secrets of the Silent Witch

With You and the Rain

See you tomorrow at the Food Court

Dealing with Mikadono sisters is a breeze

JannieVrot2025-12-30 16:07

Silent witch soundtrack keeps sneaking into my algorithms so I'm really tempted to start that - how is it? I mean obviously good since you say it's underrated but what's the thing that draws you to it?

sleek_assassin2025-12-30 16:13

For me it was the main character Monica. Shy character are hard to make cuz they get annoying for me real quick, but she didn’t feel annoying at all. Story is rather simple, but music and animation was good so were the characters.

If you have seen Bocchi the Rock, silent witch is kinda like that. Monica like Bocchi struggles to make friends or talk to anyone, but after sometimes she starts to open her heart more and starts to make friends.

JannieVrot2025-12-30 16:13

Thank you sleek_assassin, goes hard, will make sure it's on my list

UnicornPuppers2025-12-30 15:59

My Dress Up Darling
I think it came out last year but the season came out this year. I think its super underrated, or at least it didn't seem to be really promoted. I really had to scour Crunchyroll to even find it on accident.

qwertyqwerty45672025-12-30 16:01

Stunned hero, Bad girl, Takamine-san.

Local_Pickle_47172025-12-30 16:04

There's a fair number I'd list, but Fermat no Ryouri is by far the most underwatched compared to how good it was.

PartTimeFabulous2025-12-30 16:07

Catch me at the Ballpark - [here's a great WT! on it](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1lhnc2c/catch_me_at_the_ballpark_is_this_seasons_hidden/) that encapsulates nicely how I feel about it

Orb has 250,000 members which is way too high to be underrated.

Aristhelios2025-12-30 17:57

I'd say Orb: On the Movements of the Earth, Summer Hikaru Died and Link Click: Bridon Arc

BaytaCosmico2025-12-30 19:35

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Way overlooked. Such a nicely written show.

LivLouDesu2025-12-30 20:18

The shy hero and the assassin princesses. Shocked this one isn’t being talked about more.

Plenty-Cricket97152025-12-31 15:52

The water magician
