Campfire Cooking in Another World is super popular in the US but...
It says on the crunchyroll tab that its super popular in the US yet I don't see a single human talking about it, none of my friends have watched it or heard of it, and I watched it, its okay. I liked it, watched it as it aired, its super relaxing to put on the tv and just enjoy. Really surprised something like this surpassed Frieren, Haikyuu, and Demon Slayer. Unless its not in order and im stupid.... that'll be very embarassing.
Do you watch/watched/plan to watch Campfire Cooking in Another World? 🤔

Campfire appears to have been pretty popular in Japan, if the Twitter fan art was any indication.

Its inoffensive and easy going, that doesn't make it great. Only broadly popular. I enjoy it, but not say on the level of Dungeon Meshi - which I actively discuss and recommend with an enthusiasm close to zealotism.
The first rule of the cooking club is... YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE COOKING CLUB.
For starters I don't usually like male MC shows, save for some notable exceptions.
Also I'm not in the US.
The last one I watched was "There's no freaking way I will be your lover! Unless..." I love the manga and was waiting for the animated version, and didn't disappointed.
I need to start "The monster wants to eat me" from this season.
Usually I like slice of life, romance (yuri only), action and adventure, as long as there are a mostly female cast.
Some of my favs:
\- I'm in love with the Villainess (One of my favorite stories ever, I got the light novels and they are so good!! Love the protagonists and their story!)
\- The Magic Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady
\- Girls und Panzer (Sports anime, but with tanks, and an amazing cast, so good!)
\- Madoka Magica
\- Yuuki Yuuna wa Yusha
\- Symphogear (The most over the top awesome thing ever with an amazing music and action!)
\- Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury (The only Gundam show that I liked)
\- Sabagebu! (Super unhinged and hilarious!)
\- Citrus
\- Sakura Trick (So cute and gay!)
\- Sasameki Koto (As almost always happens with yuri, needed to read the manga to get the whole story, but was great).
\- Lycoris Recoil (Is great, but they need to stop being cowards and make TakinaxChisato canon)
\- Several Love Live! series
\- Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid
\- Adachi to Shimamura
\- Hina Logi from Luck and Logic
\- Keep your hands off Eizouken! (Amazing series about girls wanting to make anime!)
\- Bocchi The Rock
\- Hitoribocchi no MaruMaru Seikatsu
\- Sengoku Collection (Reverse isekai, surprisingly good!)
And in the male MC category I can remember JOJO, Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, Macross, Mazinger, Slam Dunk, Gantz, Rurouni Kenshin. Several of them from my teen years.
I'm not a fan at all of hetero romance. I don't particularly like yaoi either. So, yuri life for me.
Of course there's exceptions like JOJO, because JOJO is JOJO, the posing is great. (Still a shame that they didn't went the lesbian route with Jolyne).
And even I watched some hetero romance, like Key earlier works, like Kanon and Clannad.
But to be honest, even back then I remember beign watching Kanon and thinking "This dude is so annoying, why he gets in the way of the girls? He already have his cousin and the Uguu girl!"
Great show to watch when you have down time and don’t want to use your brain. I wished my life could be like his…
People don't talk about this anime because *there's not much to talk about*. It's just a isekai'd adult going on adventures with his dog and slime.
It's one of those "cozy anime" where people don't have to get emotionally invested as the plot progresses. There's no plot twists, no foreshadows, no questioning if villain is right, etc.
I do watch crap when I want to kill time. Heck I binged that shitty Mushoku one last minute recently (Not Mushoku Tensei, the other one).
Generally, I watch anime that have something going for it. e.g. I love Dungeon Meshi because it has characterization and strong comic relief, not because it features food (I forget it is food themed to begin with given that it's basically Wizardry).
Anything can become popular with voice acting and good art. You don't need characters nor story to hook people, just take a look at "TenSura" (the bland "slime" gimmick Lit-RPG).
I also love Slice of Life, but they need compelling characters, not walking tropes nor self-inserts. A good slice of life would be something like Barakamon, Hyouka, Non non Biyori.
If people don't talk about it, it's not worth watching. The fun part about anime is discussing your favorite things about it and sharing strong enthusiasm about it.
Only thing I can agree here is binging garbage anime, I love it! I just get like 10 isekais and binge it all in a week!
I often curate shows for friends and this was one I had no problems picking for them to watch, and they enjoyed it as well.
Other shows have more action, but this show is just simple, good fun; with pets that are near gods!
What I really like about Campfire Cooking is that it’s not overly absurd. Even though Mukohda can order stuff online, the way he cooks and uses ingredients still follows basic logic. It feels grounded in a way.
Compared to shows where a mansion suddenly appears or someone conjures weapons out of thin air with zero explanation, this one feels more “believable” within its fantasy rules. That probably makes it less flashy, but also more relaxing and rewatchable.
