Sometimes, I hate movie adaptation because it'll takes years to be available on streaming/internet.
Lodju2025-12-31 15:01
Yeah, that's my only gripe with movies since anime movies won't be in theaters where i live even if i wanted to go and watch them in a theater.

🏴☠️
TheGreenShitter2025-12-31 15:13
Exactly, don't know how there's so many posts I see about people waiting years for an anime in this day and age. They can buy merch and stuff later if they want to support the creator.
N1gHtMaRe992025-12-31 15:16
because movies dont release on streaming for months. how is that difficult to understand?
benoxxxx2025-12-31 15:17
I suppose if you like shitty screeners with children coughing in the background through the whole movie?
If you want to watch a new movie your options are: go to the cinema, pirate a screener, or wait at least a few (not years, but) months for it to be available online (legally or otherwise).
DownvoteOwnComments2025-12-31 15:21
Movies don't end up online in good quality until they come to streaming or release blu rays.
DelusionalForMyAngel2025-12-31 15:26
Movies generally don’t leak from the theatre, unless you watch to watch a camrip (you don’t) pirates have to wait like everyone else
Lodju2025-12-31 15:13
I mean yeah, but it takes time for them to show up on the internet like the person i replied said.
County_Difficult2025-12-31 15:39
And when the first versions come it's LQ/cam version, which sucks and you have to wait for a the digital version to come out to actually get to watch a high quality one.
committed_to_the_bit2025-12-31 16:14
fuckin tell me about it, lmao. the *Dragon Maid* movie came out this summer and Crunchyroll ran it in theaters for an extremely limited time in the fall, and I couldn't make it so i'm waiting for the Blu-Ray to drop at the end of January so someone can finally rip it lol
celsiusnarhwal2025-12-31 16:20
"Extremely limited time" is underselling it; they ran it for *one night*. I didn't see it that night because I assumed that wasn't going to be literally the *only* showing and I've been kicking myself in the face for it ever since.
Falsus2025-12-31 15:20
Unless you are happy with a shitty camrip you are waiting as long as everyone else unless the movie leaks. Like that one time Sony accidentally uploaded one of the Demon Slayer movies to their playstation service way too early.
Sea-Objective79432025-12-31 15:10
That why kny infinity castle get pirates
Abysswatcherbel2025-12-31 15:13
It won't take years at all, should be available on streaming months after the release
This won't make the amount of money that Sony will lock it on a movie theater like Demon Slayer
AveryLazyCovfefe2025-12-31 17:32
Yeah we've already seen something like that for another film produced by Sony - Reze Arc. It came out on digital like 2 weeks ago lol.
Ben99ny222025-12-31 18:52
It was still like 6 or 7 weeks after it's premiere. By that point it was nearly gone from theaters. Releasing it to digital helps the momentum. Streaming, I feel, is months away.
Demon slayer on the other hand, why prolong it so much.
Loverboy_912025-12-31 18:14
It’s a crapshoot. All three Rascal Does Not Dream movies only *just* became available for streaming right before season 2 dropped.
Everyone else in NA that wanted to keep up either had to see the movie the limited (one-day) North American theatrical run, Pirate, or purchase on Blu Ray.
Abysswatcherbel2025-12-31 18:31
If you all want to play their game I can share even more movies from this specific producer (Aniplex/Sony) that also are not available, like the Saekano finale, or FSN Heaven's feel that just recently became available as well, and I won't change my opinion, anime industry is complex, each show has their own situation going on
The current state industry, the productiin committee of a show and their specific markets are all major variables
You can have the producers of a show believing it would be better to sell the worlwide rights to Amazon for a quick ingestion of money, you could also have those same producers for other show believing it would be wiser to lock the movie on expensive BDs to milk the whales like in JP, because they believe they can take more money that way
A lot has change, we still have some stupid producers living in early 2000s mindset for sure, but that's not the rule anymore
Could it happen here? Definitely, never doubt those producers, but I personally don't see them doing this to Kaguya
Mission-Address44092025-12-31 15:14
Not years, its more of months or less than that
zairaner2025-12-31 15:35
It took like a month last time
K4bby2025-12-31 16:42
Thankfully anime movies are getting earlier and more widespread cinema releases across the world, so it's not that bad as it used to be pre-covid.
Ronlaen-Peke2025-12-31 17:38
The Chainsaw Man release was perfect. Like why can't they all just do that? I can understand a delay for a physical release but get it out on streaming like three months after release.
timpkmn892026-01-01 01:52
More companies are involved with theatrical releases on the JP side, which restricts what they can do. It's very rare for us to get a digital release before JP does.
zxHellboyxz2025-12-31 14:59
So they are going the route where they drop adapting the manga and go full on anime original ending.
Nachtwandler_FS2025-12-31 15:06

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War -The Final Chapter-
Currently in production, based on an original new story written by [Aka Akasaka](https://x.com/anime_kaguya/status/2006364095352889648?s=20)
>*Kaguya-sama* was a work that I created together with so many people, and it was the project that taught me the joy of making things—of creating alongside others.
>For a long time, I shared a wish with the anime staff: not simply to make another adaptation, but to create something entirely new, a complete original work that no one had ever seen before, made together by all of us.
Whenever I brought this up, everyone on the production side would say, “Yes, let’s do it.”
That conversation happened about four years ago.
>Ever since then, I’ve been thinking about what kind of story it should be.
What sort of *extra*—what kind of indulgent addition—I could give to a story that was already once brought to a close.
It’s been a time that’s both terrifying and incredibly fun.
>Then one day, a single idea came to me.
The moment it did, I knew: *this is the only way*.
At the same time, I also thought, “Wow… the anime team is going to have a hard time with this.”
>I’ve been working on *Kaguya-sama: Love Is War* for about eight years now,
and only now am I throwing this kind of challenge at everyone—
I’m sure a lot of people are holding their heads in their hands.
>But well… it’s probably the last time.
I believe they’ll forgive me for throwing in a slightly unreasonable pitch.
That’s how much I trust this team.
>It’s new, yet nostalgic.
I hope to deliver to you a completely original *Kaguya-sama*—
what will surely be the very last one.
Hm, so the possible skipping chapters to the end was potentially an Aka idea?
aes1102025-12-31 18:04
I guess if the production committee or whatever decided they are not going to greenlight a full adaptation, but 1 movie is fine, thats it could be better to just do something new as an addition to the manga instead of barely adapting any of the 130 chapters left
RPO7772025-12-31 18:09
A lot of fans hated the last Arc, and even among those that didn't HATE hate it, most manga fans would agree it was far and away the weakest arc among all the Kaguya-sama manga arcs.
So frankly, Akasaka deciding for a re-do is fantastic news in my opinion.
Mission-Address44092026-01-01 01:00
Yeah, I knew that fans did not like that arc (I did not as well, it was very bleh) but damn, I did not expect it to be the reason for why kaguya anime is ending the way it is. I do agree, its a very interesting thing to do

Let's be real there's no salvaging that Oshi no Ko ending lmao, if they want to "fix" the story, they need to scrap most of the last arc and start over again with something different, but i doubt they'll do that.
Gekko_GameDev2025-12-31 15:29
That's what he and the staff might do after season 3, with season 4 getting its own original content.
silvertwo7772025-12-31 15:50

towardselysium2025-12-31 15:10
Because the writer has consistently proved that they will abandon anything they get bored with. This could be peak writing or it could utter slop and people aren't willing to take another 50/50
1EnTaroAdun12025-12-31 15:11
Well, there's still a chance this new alt story be good. If nothing else, the manga (with its ups and downs) will always be there!
I'm willing to hope haha
Kaxew2025-12-31 16:27
I feel like this logic would be slightly different for an original story written for a movie compared to a weekly serialized manga that requires constant, eternal attention at all times, no?
MyNameIsNikNak2025-12-31 16:31
Tbh, I think shitting on Akasaka is just what’s popular now unfortunately. People will talk shit without even reading his mangas these days
towardselysium2025-12-31 17:48
Its the same question. Is this a passion that will be seen through and done properly or is it a cash grab? Movies lean even harder into that 50/50
Kaxew2025-12-31 18:22
Considering that the original author has been planning this for 4 years and that he never wanted the adaptation to just be a straight copy of the manga but rather its own thing from the start, I'm willing to say this is being done out of passion.
All of this could just be PR to calm people, of course. But still. I've never once have been disappointed by the Kaguya anime even when manga readers complained about how much disservice the anime is to the manga as far as back as season 1, so I'll give them the benefit of doubt one last time here.
jkunz56542025-12-31 15:10
It's probably the goomba fallacy but yea the amount of people saying they wanted a full adaptation is surprising to me based on the relative quality drop in the back half of the series. I haven't seen the special yet but I assume it's a highlight reel of the good/best moments from the rest of the manga and a new movie is just a cherry on top
Seaphron2025-12-31 15:12
I think the concerns come due to the author tanking the ending of Oshi no Ko, Renai seemingly canceled after a year, and Marchen seems to have a mixed reception.
Karmyuh2025-12-31 15:14
People (including me) are still extremely burnt and lost a LOT of faith in him after how he handled Oshi No Ko and the rest of his works that came after them (like Renai Daikou and that fantasy manga whose name I forgot already) and he's only ever gotten worse since Kaguya's ending (Kaguya's ending is kinda mid at worst don't let the onk ending haters tell you otherwise, the stuff he wrote later is straight up dogshit though). So yeah there are tons of reasons to think that this might just end up being even more underwhelming than the manga's ending.
myreq2025-12-31 16:12
I mean Kaguya ending was good I think, it was just the lead up to it that wasn't. I heard oshi no ko is kind of the opposite but I don't want to spoil myself more than I already did.
TooMuchDnD302025-12-31 21:24
When ppl talk about Kaguya's ending being bad, I think it's safe to assume they mean the arcs leading up to it not the actual ending itself. Basically taking the larger ending chunk of the work in aggregate.
Aviri2025-12-31 15:15
I think everyone thinks it's just gonna also be bad though.
BJRone2025-12-31 15:19
People just want to be upset
Falsus2025-12-31 15:19
Because the trust in Aka right now is basically non existent.
steven48692025-12-31 16:02
OnK has dropped his image to rock bottom.
CptAustus2025-12-31 17:22
Not only that, he stopped focused on OnK to write Renai Dakou, which was so bad it got axed. Now he's writing Marchen Crown, which isn't anything special either.
Allansfirebird2025-12-31 19:16
Oh man, *Renai Dakou* was an utter disappointment. I've never read a manga like that where the FMC was so irrelevant to the plot until the last few chapters. I kept hoping it would improve, but it only slightly righted the ship once it had already been cancelled.
Aka so badly needs an editor that can rein in his bad tendencies as a writer.
Rickud1232025-12-31 17:10
Yea if his newest series is any indication the man is washed
th5virtuos02025-12-31 20:16
Yeah. Mofo tanked OnK quality with a shitty series and axed it for Midchen Crown.

CuntJab2025-12-31 16:00
People are just traumatized because of The Promised Neverland, lol. Honestly, that’s valid in my mind.
Fearofthe6TH2025-12-31 16:24
No one trusts this author to make anything good, and either way, there’s still over 100+ chapters of material to adapt including arcs revolving around fan favorite characters, so no one is thrilled to know that’ll never get adapted.
keznaa2025-12-31 15:07
Threatens?
gc111172025-12-31 15:13
The Fandom is burned by the abortion that was Oshi no Ko. Kaguya's ending was mid at best with some questionable choices; I dont think Akasaka has ever written a good ending.
There's one plot line I can see Akasaka picking up that could right someone of the wrongs of the Manga but who knows if he will do it.
Crackedaru2025-12-31 15:08
Damn crazy how his image fell off after ONK's manga ending.
Yorunokage2025-12-31 15:19
Just like how it did after Kaguya's. He just can't stick his landings
ScipioAfricanvs2025-12-31 20:22
He doesn't *want* to stick landings. It's not like he's forced to start a new series while still working on an ongoing one...twice.

steven48692025-12-31 16:01
Promised Neverland author also decided to write the anime original ending and we all know how it went, first they skipped the arc then they added bullshit stuff then they inserted powerpoint slides to end it. You never know especially when it comes to Aka.

MalcolmLinair2026-01-01 05:53
>It gives me hope for OnK at least.
I suspect that's the entire point, and why it's being announced so close to OnK season 3 premiering; Aka and the studio must know that veiwership's going to take a hit after the manga's ending, so they're announcing this as a way of saying "Hey! If we changed the ending of one Aka work for the anime, we could change another! Please keep watching!" No idea if it'll work, but I'd bet money it's the plan.

Mazen1412025-12-31 15:04
I'm out of the loop of what's going on with Kaguya, last I heard they were skipping most of the manga and adapting the final chapters in a special. So is this an original movie taking place after the manga's conclusion/anime special?
If they wanted to create more Kaguya I'm really confused why they didn't just continue adapting the manga
cppn022025-12-31 15:09
They way I understand it this will be the sequel to the upcoming special and essentially make the anime it's own timeline seperate from the manga.
PrinceZero19942025-12-31 20:12
So, should I read the skipped parts before watching the special?
TooMuchDnD302025-12-31 21:20
It's really up to you. After the last Kaguya movie, the critical consensus is that the quality of the manga slowly and steadily declined (this was reflected in the series' sales as well). There are still come great and hilarious moments, but there's just as much mediocre (and 1 outright awful) arc mixed in as well to sift through.
Overall, I'd say it can still be worth a read. Despite the bad when it's still good it's still REALLY good.
Mission-Address44092025-12-31 15:12
>I'm out of the loop of what's going on with Kaguya, last I heard they were skipping most of the manga and adapting the final chapters in a special.
Yeah, thats right
>
So is this an original movie taking place after the manga's conclusion/anime special?
Yup, and its being penned by aka, here is what he said about it
Kaguya-sama was a work that I created together with so many people, and it was the project that taught me the joy of making things—of creating alongside others.
For a long time, I shared a wish with the anime staff: not simply to make another adaptation, but to create something entirely new, a complete original work that no one had ever seen before, made together by all of us. Uchihaboy3162025-12-31 23:33
How much was skipped?
Falsus2025-12-31 15:23
Because the last arc and the ending was generally considered... very bad by the manga readers. Though not to the level of what Oshi no Ko got shat on.
Bakatora342025-12-31 17:53
The ending is consider fine, the road to it with the last arc is the problem.
TooMuchDnD302025-12-31 21:21
The second half of the manga steadily declines in quality (the Aka special) and the manga sales began to reflect as much as well. For every good arc there is a mediocre one.
I imagine the studio doesn't find it worth sifting through that and would rather end on a bang doing their own thing.
Are_u_a_wizard2026-01-01 01:25
It was the best part of the manga but most people actually discovered kaguya trough the anime so they wouldn't know. The manga before this was just episodic chapters that the second half also has just as funny with more actual arcs with only one arc considered bad the osaragi arc everything else is totally fine
cppn022025-12-31 15:04
Bold move to go with an original ending. And apparently this has been planned for years.
Prestigious_Cat73962025-12-31 15:06
considering how bad the last arc is, not really.
cppn022025-12-31 15:08
Could have just skipped that then. The actual ending was fine if a bit rushed.
dark-flamessussano2025-12-31 15:17
The last arc isn't bad at all . Wish people would stop saying that . Sure it might not be as good as the previous arcs but saying it's bad is an over exaggeration
gc111172025-12-31 15:37
Nah, it wasnt great. Well within the spectrum of bad to mediocre. I personally lean more towards mediocre but there is a ton of validity to those who say its bad.
S_Cero2025-12-31 15:59
The final arc basically abandoned everything that was good about Kaguya. The meticulous planning where everything went somewhere was gone, so many plot point setups for the 3rd year were set and then completely ignored in the end. The defense is always a vague "not that bad" with 0 justification on how it's not that bad lol.
dark-flamessussano2025-12-31 20:31
To me, bad is oshi no ki or game of thrones, something that makes rewatching or reading pointless , something that ruins the entirety of the story . Sure , The ending wasn't elite level writing like the previous arcs but you can read it and go "Meh" and still enjoy the series for what it is.
I know that doesn't sound like much but in today's day and age of dog shit endings, that's a good thing
oB3NoT3Xo2025-12-31 15:18
fucking hell you people love to exaggerate, I recently read the manga and the last arc is weak compared to the rest of the series but calling it bad is doing too much
oops_i_made_a_typi2025-12-31 18:14
yeah its a good reminder to take bandwagoning with a grain of salt, esp from manga readers (who also often read things weekly and have a poor understanding of pace because of it)
hanr102025-12-31 20:09
I don’t think that’s an exaggeration at all
I genuinely thought it was bad, and honestly if it hadn’t been the final arc, and if I hadn’t been following the manga for 5 years with it being one of the highlights of my week for a good chunk of that time, I would’ve dropped it right there.
In the end the series was always at its best when it was a romantic comedy, that's where the execution stood out
The actual last two chapters or so were fine
Octava8Espada2025-12-31 15:36
I just finished reading it and honestly I wonder why everyone says it's so bad, I liked it
oB3NoT3Xo2025-12-31 15:44
I honestly think it's trendy to hate on Aka for his other work and that toxicity has spread and amplified those same voices in the kguya community
cppn022025-12-31 15:51
That's definitely a thing.
CuntJab2025-12-31 15:58
Nah, that’s revisionism. I didn’t think it was bad, but, my God, it was so long and felt so inconsequential to what was happening prior.
I dropped it and only came back because of a certain *clears throat* scene that went viral, lol.
Lukas042025-12-31 18:22
i read the manga around last year, didnt like the arc, but didnt hate it super much. But if i were following the manga with each new release, i think i would have disliked it a lot more.
Abysswatcherbel2025-12-31 15:14
u/zairaner suddenly excited for OnK again
th5virtuos02025-12-31 20:13
Honestly, same for me. If it were me I'd just stop OnK at the first fakeout and make it real. Is it cheesy? Sure, but it also spit at Aqua's toxic obesession and give him a way out instead of rewarding him for it (in his mind) with that fucking [OnK ending]>!double suicide that basically fucked up all of his friends and family's life, especially his brother and sister!<
MalcolmLinair2026-01-01 05:41
I just hope Aka's not going to make Kaguya-sama end badly as well. I was always a bit worried about 1) Kaguya's mother dying in childbirth, 2) Kaguya supposedly being sickly, and 3) Miyuki wanting nine kids, with Kaguya seeming to be on-board with it. Lord knows "Kaguya dies in childbirth, leaving Miyuki a broken man like his father" would satisfy Aka's twin loves of torturing his characters and repeating, generational stories.
TomoeKon2025-12-31 15:06
the kaguyer is real
Parking-Potato-24412025-12-31 15:06
anime/movie original ending??? what year is it?
gc111172025-12-31 15:15
Honestly, it can be an improvement over what we got. The *ending* itself (like, the last chapter) was fine, but all the arcs feeding into it were not great and many plot threads left unresolved.
BiggieCheeseLapDog2025-12-31 16:08
Anime original endings should be normalized over adapting shitty manga endings.
Eigarlll2025-12-31 15:07
The Special was great, can't wait to see the movie!

LimBomber2025-12-31 15:10
I will be cautiously optimistic and wait to see at least more of a synopsis.
Doomed-here49092025-12-31 15:11
I hate that every huge series is going the movie route now. I understand that it brings them profit, but I have major issues about it.
Going to cinemas doesn't feel worth it anymore cuz the ones near my home have terrible screens/audio system. And then there's this issue of pillar/letter-boxing which completely takes away the immersion. I would prefer watching movies on my OLED screen any day than in the theatres. But that would take months before it's released on a streaming platform.
need2put_awayl0ndry2025-12-31 15:28
Is it worth traveling to a better theater, to make an experience out of it?
Doomed-here49092025-12-31 15:52
I do that. The only good screen in my city is an Imax screen. If any good movie is coming there, I go immediately. I watched Slam Dunk & CSM reze there. Unfortunately, they don't put every movie there.
wutfacer2025-12-31 15:49
Just be happy more series are being continued/finished these days
CaptainSmeg2025-12-31 15:11
I thought there was enough material left for another 3 seasons or something?
gc111172025-12-31 15:42
There is; but alot of that content was poorly received. The back quarter of Kaguya is pretty divisive. Few say its great, many say its mid, alot say its bad. The anime has already adapted the majority of the best parts.
G_Riel_2025-12-31 15:57
What? Most readers love the second half of Kaguya except for the Kaguya family arc.
gc111172025-12-31 16:00
A cursory glance in this thread indicates thats not the case, nor was that my experience following the Manga weekly.
Of course, all of that is anecdotal and I acknowledge that.
CyanideIE2025-12-31 15:12
Anime original might work out better than the original final arc as it had some issues. I just hope that it keeps Maki's ending as that's one of my favourite parts of the manga.
detarameReddit2025-12-31 15:16
Woah, woah, woah...
On one hand, more Kaguya-sama content. On the other hand, a brand-new Aka Akasaka, anime-original ending out of nowhere??
This could be great for Kaguya-sama, or it could make anime-onlies suffer. Hopefully this will be the former.
ErfanTheRed2025-12-31 15:16
An anime original is...something. but I can understand them going that route given the manga's final arc was very poorly received by both global and jp fanbase.
But I still wanted to see ishigami, miko and hayasaka's arcs animated as those are some of the best arcs in the series and nicely tie up their individual characters arcs before the story jumps into the final arc.
I guess my only hope now is that they do a follow-up extra season like Horimiya adapting the skipped content on a later date.
gc111172025-12-31 15:41
Frankly, if this final movie just adapts [manga spoilers]>!The ishi/miko stuff and simply shows them getting together as opposed to that stupidity we got in the Manga, it would be a major improvement!<
GoldenKevin2025-12-31 19:21
Even though this movie will technically be anime original, I really hope it does readapt non-Shirogane and Kaguya focused arcs of the second half of the manga. I miss our [misunderstanding-prone](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Os4Fq7r8sd0) [disciplinary committee member](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0JePOyGvGQ) Miko lino.
tanoshikuidomouyo2025-12-31 15:17
So if I understand correctly, this is an anime original ending to Kaguya-sama, spearheaded by Aka himself? Because holy shit, this might bode really well for Oshi no Ko if that's the case. After a one-cour season 3 and season 4, a movie may fit in perfectly to conclude anime OnK with a nice, new ending.
Nomar_952025-12-31 15:17
so....the tv special will adapt some parts of the manga in a vignette style while skipping the rest, and this new movie is an original story taking place after the series.
Do I have that right?
Torque-A2025-12-31 15:18
As others have said, I'm cautious here. I've read the manga and the final arc... definitely has a bunch of rough edges that this finale movie could smooth out. Or make even harder.
Part of me wonders if Oshi no Ko will follow the same route and do something original. The live action adaptation did that.
TheDanubianCommunard2025-12-31 15:21
Original story, but it is called The Final Chapter, looks original ending path it is. Akasaka writing it, looks like he might realized his way to end stories are not the best, and the Kaguya ending was mid. So this will be better and more satisfying than the manga ending was?
UGamer812025-12-31 15:23
At this point, I'm just hoping Crunchyroll and Aniplex stream the special that just aired tonight in Japan over here. I'm surprised neither of them have said anything about it despite knowing about it for well over a month ahead of time.
Either way, regarding this, I'll be cautiously optimistic. I'm always happy for more Kaguya-sama, but I can't help but wonder about our favorite side characters that didn't have all their development animated.
EDIT: Looks like it's already up on Crunchyroll!
Sweet-Toxicity2025-12-31 15:24
Now do this with Oshi No Ko with an original ending
LuRo3322025-12-31 15:29
Im still so pissed that they skipped so much material and went straight for the ending. Now what am I supposed to do as an anime only watcher…
SkyLETV2025-12-31 15:33
Oh ffs give us a new season! 😭
ANoobSniper2025-12-31 15:35
Hopefully the time between the manga ending and the movie being a thing means Aka is in a better state of mind to revise the issues the manga originally had.
~~So just to be sure, this movie *isn't* the special that was announced several months back, right? They're two seperate projects?~~
Edit: Didn't realise the special came out today, my bad
ToonamiNights2025-12-31 15:37
The last arc was definitely the weakest part of the manga. I don't really mind. If it flops, I'm okay with 3 great seasons of the anime. I wish they wouldn't make a movie though because it'll be years before we're able to watch it
fieew2025-12-31 15:37
I remembering watching the first movie in theatres. It was PACKED. To an absurd point, essentially the whole cinema was filled. I try to go to nearly every anime movie the theatre near me shows. There's a decent chance I'll be the only person in the theatre if not only a few other people will be there.
Aside from Demon Slayers I've never seen an anime film as packed as Kaguya's first film. Maybe cause it was only one day and it was Valentine's day (its a love story could've given it a boost) but I have high hopes for Kaguya-Sama movies now. I think it can do surprisingly well after seeing that theatre so filled with the first film.
AbyssalSolitude2025-12-31 15:45
So you are telling me there is hope for OnK original ending.
LSoSavvy2025-12-31 15:58
Wait so what’s happening here? Is this what the steps to adulthood is? A movie that’s going to act as the finale of the series with an anime original ending?
3stoner2025-12-31 15:59
would have been nice to see a spin off with the old student council or other side characters but sure lets go with another rehash of the main story
TheBravesDH2025-12-31 16:00
If I’m understanding this right, there was a special that aired today in Japan that likely skipped about 70 chapters to get to the end and now there’s going to be a movie that serves as some sort of anime original epilogue? I get that the Shinomiya war arc is divisive (imo it’s totally fine) but I hope they aren’t cheating us out of the side characters arcs.
AlikeWolf2025-12-31 16:01
Honestly? I'm okay with this
Anime original content is a dying art, I am sorta excited to see what they can do

If you want to watch a new movie your options are: go to the cinema, pirate a screener, or wait at least a few (not years, but) months for it to be available online (legally or otherwise).
This won't make the amount of money that Sony will lock it on a movie theater like Demon Slayer
Demon slayer on the other hand, why prolong it so much.
Everyone else in NA that wanted to keep up either had to see the movie the limited (one-day) North American theatrical run, Pirate, or purchase on Blu Ray.
Huh? There's another Kaguya movie that aired today?
"Monkeys paw curls"

So frankly, Akasaka deciding for a re-do is fantastic news in my opinion.
Aka threatens to write more story to his beloved work
I'm willing to hope haha
All of this could just be PR to calm people, of course. But still. I've never once have been disappointed by the Kaguya anime even when manga readers complained about how much disservice the anime is to the manga as far as back as season 1, so I'll give them the benefit of doubt one last time here.
Aka so badly needs an editor that can rein in his bad tendencies as a writer.
Of course nobody is gonna fucking trust him again
There's one plot line I can see Akasaka picking up that could right someone of the wrongs of the Manga but who knows if he will do it.
This might be the trend broker where anime fixes the ending 💔
Welcome back, Promised Neverland.
Don't give me hope.
Trust me, that is a really, ***really*** bad idea.
If they wanted to create more Kaguya I'm really confused why they didn't just continue adapting the manga
Overall, I'd say it can still be worth a read. Despite the bad when it's still good it's still REALLY good.
>

But I couldn't take my eyes off your PFP, lmao. TJ the goat.
Np
>But I couldn't take my eyes off your PFP, lmao. TJ the goat.
Lol, i did not think i would come across someone that knows him, He indeed is the goat 🐐
I imagine the studio doesn't find it worth sifting through that and would rather end on a bang doing their own thing.
I know that doesn't sound like much but in today's day and age of dog shit endings, that's a good thing
I dropped it and only came back because of a certain *clears throat* scene that went viral, lol.
