Yeah, I guess I just assumed that Kaho also offered Satsuki a bunch of money too, like she did with Renako. But perhaps it took a while, and Satsuki's refusals are what taught Kaho the power of money.

When Kaho first asked Satsuki to do cosplay, she had to convince Satsuki to do this thing that Satsuki presumably thought would be very embarrassing. Once Kaho convinced her the first time and Satsuki realized that it was fine, all Kaho had to do from then on was keep paying her. But for this event, it was simply the case that Haruna's friend asked her first.

Oof, she's completely defeated. That heart-to-heart on the roof is so sad, they're both such good girls.

And Renako gets a taste of her own medicine; being faced with a person who puts herself down for no reason. It's like putting her in front of a mirror. But at least now Renako sees how annoying she has been and knows what she has to do. Kaho and Renako being fake extrovert role models for each other kind of reminds me of how Ajisai and Renako are each other's angels.

It has been great that Renako has slowly been realizing that each of the popular girls she used to think were so beyond her reach have their insecurities too. She knows how it feels to be weak, so whenever they are in a pinch she lifts them back up. I get why the girls keep falling for her.

Eyewear is a precarious thing in anime/manga. The only time my contacts have ever come out is when someone rubs their arm against my eye. And I have never lost my glasses. I'm not sure if the authors of the various works where people are always losing those things have never worn glasses or contacts, or if they are just using it as a corny trope.

If you get something in your eye you do. I wear contacts. And reason I carry solution, rewetting drops and a spare pair.

And if something bumps you right it can knock them out. Rare but has happened to me.

Our experiences might be different but with glasses I feel like it’s a lot different from forgetting your keys or your phone somewhere. You might not be using them at that moment and so it can take a bit until you need them and discover that they’re gone. I can’t really see myself forgetting my glasses because there’s immediate blurriness as a reminder that I’m not wearing them. There’s a built-in alarm that I feel like makes it really difficult to actually forget them.

Oh that is true I noticed the difference even back then, but sadly I lost them in public places so couldn't get them back even if I wanted.

When I was young I lost them in a restaurant, on a train, and once dropped them in the middle of the road and before I realized it a car ran them over. Since graduating college though I have been a lot more careful and haven't lost a pair since.

My vision bad enough the worry was would I pay attention to were I left them but this more they get damaged worry than losing them.

Whole episode was wonderful. Ajisai's love for Mai despite the fact they want the same thing struck a chord. And as others said the whole contact thing was an obvious setup, but man hearing Renako stand up to both of their insecurities to help a friend is so powerful. And then we find out Kaho turned into this cool cosplayer because of Renako.

Kaho having cosplay beef with a middle schooler, seems fitting really. Same for Satsuki showing up as the middle schooler's partner for the show.

Having your contacts be your extrovert cosplay while not keeping a spare pair on hand was asking for trouble. Good thing Renako was there to help, among other reactions.

Its so beautiful how both Renako and Kaho aro both fake it till you make it introverts so essentially they're pulling the courage out of fucking thin air but once they take a step it becomes real. They say opposites attract and it's true, but paring two very similar characters can awaken each of them to their own strengths and weaknesses by holding up a mirror. Very nice dynamic.

I loved how bold Renako was with Kaho and returned the harsh tone that Kaho used on her. It ended up getting through to her and while Renako is uncomfortable in new social settings she is honestly really good at tailoring what she says to each of the girls when it really matters.

The Kaho arc has been really good. I get now why we saw so little Kaho before because Renako needed to get more confidence in herself before being able to handle her. There's no freaking way Renako before going through Mai, Satsuki, and Ajisai would have been able to pull Kaho out of her head. More than any of the other girls Kaho feels the most similar to Renako, so when Kaho was spiraling it felt like Renako was speaking to a younger version of herself.

That is some satisfying character growth

And looks like Mai and Renako are more similar than they realize with not wanting to be hated. Also her weird lack of self-worth in this particular scenario. Her “nah I‘d win” sounded arrogant, but I genuinely believe it’s true if she stayed on the offensive, even after Ajisai threw her hat in the ring.

The petty rival character (well not really, but she plays one well) gets a glow-up when Final Boss Satsuki steps up as her minion. Well, it’s more like she’s the minion and Satsuki is the Demon Lord, but same difference.

Kaho’s way too adorable for her self-deprecating spiel to be convincing. At least it got Renako to realize why Kaho went all “oldest weapon known to man” on her.

This episode was fantastic! I loved everything about the cosplay, from Renako and Kaho getting ready for the event to the event itself.

Haruna's friend looked spectacular in that cosplay, and her partner was none other than Satsuki. When she said her partner was fabulous, I immediately thought Satsuki was the only one capable of doing something like that, and sure enough, she was. And in the end, Kaho went from being introverted to extroverted—without even wearing contact lenses, thanks to Renako's speech?

And finally, Mai and Ajisai arrive at the cosplay event.

The Pep talk and role reversal was great and hilarious. But I gotta point out when Renako broke after hearing Kaho repeating what she was literally just think and turned assertive in a weirdly hot way(?)(The world would be conquered in a day if Renako was like this all the time). Which also had a goddamn wall slam

Also Renako wanting to revert back into a Koala is probably the most Bocchi we Bocchi The Rock fans will get till season 2 later this year, and goddamn it was it amazing
