Basically the series has released entirely in sets of 4 theatrical OVA episodes. Each one has remade a season or film from the original Yamato series. S1, which is 2199 has a regular movie attached to it as well called Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199: Hoshimeguru Hakobune which is set between episodes 24 and 25.
So there's 2199, 2202, 2205, and then you have 3199 which is currently playing out. I personally would wait on it until it is completed, which is what I've done since 2202.
I think 2199 is one of the best anime ever made and its movie is pretty solid too, but I've had diminishing returns with 2202 and to a slightly lesser degree 2205.
TLDR: If you want to watch it all do 2199 with the film before episode 25 (or after you're done with 2199, which is totally fine), then 2202, 2205, and wait on 3199

Okay so do I just ignore Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199: Tsuioku no Koukai and just watch the series with the movie before episode 25 then just watch the remaining episodes after the movie?
Sorry. I was a bit confused by the notes that said there was new footage as said by this website. [https://yamato.fandom.com/wiki/Space\_Battleship\_Yamato\_2199:\_A\_Voyage\_to\_Remember](https://yamato.fandom.com/wiki/Space_Battleship_Yamato_2199:_A_Voyage_to_Remember)

Yeah, that's just a recap. It's possible they added new footage as a draw for the audience, but I'd stick to the main stuff unless you revisit the series in the future.
