In honour of New Year’s, what was your fav 2025 anime and what 2026 anime are you looking forward to the most

My fav anime 2025 anime is either The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity or the Chainsaw Man Reze Arc Movie. It might be Fragrant Flower only cuz the csm movie’s fanservice was short lived but REALLY severe when it did happen and it was something you wouldn’t wanna see when watching a horror action. For 2026 it’s Re:Zero Season 4.

I really didn't watch much this year and nothings standing out as a favorite, for next year Trigun is the only thing on my radar at the moment.

I was legit fed up with rezero, because I found Subaru annoying, but that season was insanely good every week and changed my opinion of the show completely.

I don't really keep up with seasonal anime anymore, but I waited almost 7 years for Grand Blue S2 and it didn't disappoint. Aharen-san S2 was also worth the 3 year wait.

If we're talking new shows, See You Tomorrow at the Food Court and Catch Me at the Ballpark were unexpected surprises

For 2026 obviously Frieren S2 is up there and I'm hoping the next season of the Spice and Wolf remake will come out by the end of the year. For some reason I'm also really interested in Tamon's B Side even though I don't really care for idol stuff normally

For 2026, that Little Mermaid influenced-**Goodbye, Lara** might be my most-anticipated so far. To me, best 2025 anime was "Anne Shirley". AS also has my pick for Best 2025 Anime Eng. dub. Monica Flatley was astounding as Anne.

I only watched 2 anime this year so its hard to say exactly which one is the best between slime 300 S2 and hibimeshi (maid dragon movie still isnt available)

For 2026 the only thing I know is that nanoha is supposed to have an anime this year

And I think tensei sword S2 is in october although I havent even gotten around to S1 yet

-Stress-Princess-2026-01-01 05:56

Silk Camping for Two.

It was just so homey and it lasted just as long as it needed to. Also the relationship stuff felt so adult at the end.

2025: 100 Girlfriends Season 2

2026: 100 Girlfriends Season 3

SteadyEd4202026-01-01 06:26

My top pick for 2025 is definitely my hero academia. It is definitely in my top 5 anime’s of all time. I loved seeing the way that midoriya and his classmates grew to better understand their quirks and use them to their full potential. I actually just finished the last season and I was balling my eyes out

Ok-Objective-83802026-01-01 07:16

Ruri Rocks was my favourite show and had my favourite episode (9th) of the year! I also really "enjoyed" Takopi's Original Sin, the stop-motion My Melody & Kuromi series, Medalist and what I've seen so far of Anne Shirley (also my favourite opening), the movie adaptation of Cocoon, Chainsaw Man and Ne Zha 2 (saw it twice in cinema). I still need to watch 100 Meters!

Most looking forward to Sayonara Lara, A Witch in Mongolia and Witch Hat Atelier. For sequels Frieren, Dorohedoro and the follow up series to the False Memory OVA from China. Movie-wise A New Dawn and L'étoile de Paris en fleur (gorgeous art direction for both), and for a couple films from 2025 to become available like The Last Blossom, Toritsukare Otoko and ChaO.

Takopi's Original Sin was my favorite anime that premiered in 2025, followed by Gundam G-Quuuuux and Fragrant Flower.

Most anticipated for 2026? Kinda has an asterisk next to it. Fate Rewinder, marking the long awaited return of Rie Matsumoto is what I'm most looking forward to but its actual air dates haven't been announced. I'm hoping it starts in 2026. Likewise more of Monogatari Offseason/Monster season. If neither of those make it for 2026 then I'd say the new Madoka Magica movie.

Original anime? For 2025 that'd be The fragrant flower and for 2026 it's You and I are Polar Opposites.

As for the ones that already have a prequel, for 2025 it'd be Dandadan s2 and for 2026, I'm excited for JJBA: SBR, Black Clover s2 and One Piece s2

zMaaaaatthew2026-01-01 14:12

The best 2025 thing is Chainsawman: Reze arc, but I didn't watched yet a lot of 2025 series because I'm not really a seasonal watcher
For 2026 the most anticipated are Atelier of Witch Hat, Frieren, Dungeon Meshi 2, Sayonara Lara and Jaadugar

celsiusnarhwal2026-01-01 15:47

My favorite of last year is [*Ruri Rocks*](https://anilist.co/anime/180929). [*CITY*](https://anilist.co/anime/181841) is a very close contender.

My most anticipated anime of this year, without question, is [*Cosmic Princess Kaguya*](https://anilist.co/anime/201903). I'm genuinely going to crash out if this movie isn't good.
