What is the First Anime/Manga that you have watched/read in 2026?

It's the New Year, and that means a brand new year of watching anime and reading manga!

As the title states, what was the First Anime and Manga that you saw this year?

I've made it a ritual of mine for a few years now to start off the year by watching an Episode of One Piece and reading a chapter of One Piece every year as my first pick.

Nothing better that to start the year off strong!

What about you?

For Bonus Points: What was the last anime/manga you saw in 2025?

The Last Anime of 2025 - Kaguya-sama: Love is War

The Last Manga of 2025 - This Is Screwed Up, but I Was Reincarnated as a GIRL in Another World!

I haven't watched/read anything yet (it's right after midnight for me and I need to go to bed), but the last anime I watched an episode of in 2025 was Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and the last manga I read a chapter of is D.Gray-man.

Last anime I fully *finished* in 2025 was With You, Our Love Will Make It Through, though.

darryledw2026-01-01 06:12

* Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind

put this movie on just after midnight, it was a pretty solid watch but did fall a bit flat in parts for me - kind of a basic story that is maybe better told in the manga source based on some reviews I saw. Would give it a 7/10

I think the last one I watched in 2025 was an episode of Lycoris Recoil which I dropped 3 episodes in.

Dazzling_Cake_43122026-01-01 06:13

I rewatched blue lock season 2 from like 11pm yesterday to 2am (but I got impatient and skipped half the episodes)

Dude, it's only 1:30pm on the First.

At least give us a chance to see what's new on MAL, and enjoy the day off.

Planning on catching up to the Watanare special as well as the 100 Meters film.

Most seasonals will only air next week but there are a couple that are set to air this week. The first one I'm interested is Sentenced to Be a Hero on Saturday.

Additional-Panic-3622026-01-01 06:19

I'm thinking of watching Haikyuu again. I need that spirit the show encased so beautifully. That even if you don't have the intellect, effort succeeds you. So I also hope to read the Manga to a finish. Also, the Oshi No Ko is coming with its 3rd season I believe (?) so I want to read up to the Manga where it showcases the appropriate length of chapters.

DylanRamsey2026-01-01 06:19

Ha, just happened to be One Piece. Going through it for the first time and watched an episode into midnight. Still early in the show, when they first get into Logue Town

Last anime of 2025: I Want to Eat Your Pancreas

First anime of 2026: Probably the new Kaguya-sama

awesomenessofme12026-01-01 06:32

Not 2026 yet for me, but here's what's most likely.

Final 2025 anime: Star Wars: Visions Volume 3
Final 2025 manga: My Senpai is Annoying (honestly, a big disappointment after the anime)

First 2026 anime: Dubs aren't going to start for a while, so the first will be a backlog, and I'm currently leaning toward JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The odds of me actually catching up before the new part starts are very low, but still better sooner than later.
First 2026 manga: This is even more up in the air, but I think it's finally time for me to move on from the disappointment of Netflix botching the anime release and start reading The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity.

It's literally 1:30AM where I live, so I haven't seen any yet lol.

The last manga I read on 2025 was Uma Musume Pretty Derby: Star Blossom though, so I'll either continue that as my first for the year or watch the new episodes of Watanare before (my last anime of 2025 was A Mangaka's Weirdly Wonderful Workplace btw)

octopathfinder2026-01-01 06:48

Still not 2026 for me, but I expect my first anime to be Sentenced to Be a Hero or Fate/Strange Fake on Saturday. First manga will probably be Kagurabachi since I'm catching up to it right now.

Last anime of 2025: Watanare sequel

Last manga of 2025: Kagurabachi

hikoboshi_sama2026-01-01 06:50

Started reading Ruri Dragon. Well, technically i started it last year then continued reading it this year.

Teen_tactical2026-01-01 06:51

Damn son, it's 12:48am EST. The ball just dropped when you posted this lol. i just watched the first ep to that jack of all trade's anime right before 12. Happy New Years!

NiklausMikhail2026-01-01 07:01

One hour into 2026 has passed for me, but i didn't see anything new yet.
Anime?
I don't know, probably gonna watch the last episodes of Stranger things

PawsOn172026-01-01 07:11

I actually completed both manga/anime Boruto. Wasn't an easy task but managed it somehow.

Other than OPM, Dandadan and Spy x Family S3 I also watched Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood (absolute cinema)

Also gave a try watching this new anime called Solo Camping for two. Show isn't that good tho. I stopped midway.

I'm currently reading CSM, Spy x Family, JJK: Modulo, OPM, Berserk (which I'm upto date) and Frieren (caught up to the anime) Also I completed Vagabond after two years of on/off reading. That's basically it.

Dabboos2026-01-01 07:13

Imma rewatch the law of ueki

Quiddity1312026-01-01 07:32

I'm 8 of 12 episodes through Zenshu so it will likely be the thing I finish first. Unless I watch one of the many brief OVAs on my 2026 Plan to Watch list (including stuff like Genocyber, Legaciam, Maetel Legend, Dragon Century) and finish them first because of shorter lengths.

The last anime I completed in 2025 was Saekano the movie.

Zero completed manga for me in 2025, but I'm 276 chapters into Berserk which I've been going through the last 4 months.

TerribleShiksaBride2026-01-01 07:33

It's still not even midnight on the US West Coast!

pewell12026-01-01 07:41

GTO! I have 3 episodes left and am loving it so far

Mickey101202026-01-01 07:55

I don't have any plans on reading manga this year but I should pick back up Mysterious Girlfriend X, The Promised Neverland and Erased as I was enjoying reading them. Also I just looked at the manga I have saved and I changed my mind as I now know I'll be reading manga in 2026. I don't think I read any manga last year.

I got back into watching anime last year in 2025 but I wanted to watch more than I did as I have some unfinished series to watch. As for anime in 2026, my first anime will be Ruri Rock which was the last of 2025.

Abhinav6singg2026-01-01 07:56

My first was kaguya sama stairway to adulthood. 1 more ep is left to watch. Then i would watch stranger things s5

CSM part 2 reread.

Nettysocks2026-01-01 10:14

As part of getting drunk over new years me and my partner decided to watch Ninja Vs Gokudo.

It was the best anime to bring in the new year, a man shot himself in the head so he could ricochet the bullet several times to exit his eyeball socket to try and hit his true target.

It’s very stupid dumb and fun.

TechnicalIncrease6952026-01-01 10:30

I didn't know it was a manga since it used the webtoon style so the first thing I read was Senpai Is an Otokonoko.

First thing I watched is Shoshimin

LeminaAusa2026-01-01 13:22

Hah, this almost feels like cheating as my answer is the same for both anime and manga and last of '25 and first of '26: Frieren, for the sake of the new season coming out soon. I'm taking part in the sub's current rewatch, and I've also been re-reading along with the manga as we go.

Leonidas_Kupler2026-01-01 13:51

Last anime I watched in 2025: One ~To A Shining Season (was very mid)

Last Anime of 2025: Parasyte:The Maxim

Finished rewatching it and don’t regret it at all. I love this anime and don’t really get why it’s quite underrated.

First Anime of 2026: Tougen Anki

Decent watch but definitely not the best out there. The fan service is just a little bit too much at times honestly, i d rather concentrate on the action part.
