Yearly shoutout to Shirobako, an anime I wish I could watch again for the first time

In fact, I wish we could get more of it to be honest. We all love anime, most of us have probably wondered what it’s like to actually make it at some point, and Shirobako shows a good glimpse at some of the trails that go on behind the scenes to make an anime, all while having some interesting characters and dare I say good story.

These are the type of anime who’s names I remember years after watching, and as we usher in a new year, I want to put out into the world the type I hope we get to see more of.

I will say I enjoyed the show a lot more than I thought.

That's why I find Zenshuu. a massive disappointment. Seriously, we need more good behind-the-scenes anime. Even Shirobako itself couldn't succeed as a movie.

Yeah, it has to be a budget thing, anime is so tied to sales of novels and manga these days I feel like that can really limit things.

I started watching Zenshu a week ago (saw episode 8 today) and was expecting it to be Shirobako with a quirkier main character.

...oops, its an isekai. Only one episode so far (7) has been like what I was expecting.

Yep, I mostly avoid the genre. So when I start something and realize that it's an isekai that is quite a disappointment.

One of my favourite anime is technically a isekai, so I know they can be good (digimon adventure 1) and I’ve watched a good few I enjoyed, but I’ve now hit my limit to where I need it to be really good quality, have an ending on release and not be full of tropes I’ve seen a dozen times.

Escaflowne was one of my first ever anime including my first subbed anime and I ran a fansite for it for 8 years so I'm not totally down on the genre... Granted that was back when isekai was a more unique and high quality genre...

I’ve been meaning to do watch it, was holding out hope for an English dub for years since that’s my preference, but I doubt it’s getting one now.
