It's not exactly anime from Japan, but there is a Korean animated show called Oscar's Oasis.
Very little actual talking. But all of the characters but one are animals.

Closest thing I can think of isn't an anime. Shaun the sheep. It has no dialogue, except the theme song. It has a very Mr Bean feel.
In terms of anime, the closest I can think of is a Silent Voice. It deliberately leaves out a lot of dialogue to force nonverbal communications, because one of the characters is deaf.
The rest of the anime I've watched may have had episodes of low to no dialogue, but none that were an overarching theme throughout the entire series.

untalkative bunny?

Anime doesn't really have that sort of old school pink panther esque story common. Closest I can recommend is Interstella 5555, or Shashinkan. Anime stories that have music instead of dialogue.

I think "Nichijou" had one scene where everyone was silent.
I HATED that scene, so it sounds like a good scene for you to watch.
Significant-Tree47522026-01-01 07:54
Is it that scene before they laughed hard?🤣
abandoned_idol2026-01-01 07:56
I'd have to rewatch it. You're likely correct, since I doubt there was more than one silent film scene.

the card tower half-episode. there's also a sketch like this in Yuru Yuri
FanakinApp2026-01-01 07:39
not silent but Mushishi is pretty atmospheric with less talking that you might like

This is a good pick, very little dialogue, a fantastic film.

Not an anime but watch Primal

All of them if you turn Mute on.

[Joshikausei](https://myanimelist.net/anime/38295/Joshikausei) has no verbal dialogue, try it out and see if that's what you're looking for.

If you count Korean animation, There She Is!! complete.

Popee the Performer is great!
Altruistic-Farmer2752026-01-01 18:32
Not necessarily weeb enough but Samurai Jack would be a good choice.
The usage of silence in that series is just immaculate.

Pui Pui Molcar - fun series of stop motion shorts about guinea-pig-car hybrids, no dialogue
kwirky882026-01-01 19:15
Cat Soup has zero dialogue for the whole 34 mins. Is avant garde so it hits weird
Mushoku tensei, made in abyss, and freiren both use the cinematography trick of having long environmental scenes without dialogue.
Some of these shows are traumatizing. Be warned.
And anime isn’t old enough to have been without talking. I don’t know what you mean about old style because the silent cinema is from the days before animation took off in general.

Also not anime but Flow is about a bunch of animals (that don't talk)
Valuna2026-01-02 03:10
Seconded! It's a work of art, an animated movie made by a single person.
