The new Kaguya Love Is War episodes are pissing me off
I've just finished watching the new special episodes and they were so good that I'm left utterly baffled as to WHY THEY ARENT MAKING A NEW SEASON INSTEAD OF SKIPPING THE ENTIRETY OF SECOND HALF OF THE MANGA?????!!?!?!?
Shirogane's father becoming a YouTuber, the sex scene, and the 5 hour long voice call between the two. All of these were in the second half of the manga and there are MANY more (100+) chapters that are just as good these.
Anyone that thinks the manga goes downhill after the first anime movie is probably smoking some next level hoodini crack, because other than the final arc, the second half is still really great and will make you laugh.
So why couldn't they just adapt the rest of the chapters and then replace the ending with their new original ending???????????????
This is a message to the anime onlies: GO READ THE MANGA NOW JUST TRUST ME PLEASE. It's really obvious the movie will diverge heavily from the source material to a point where the manga would most likely spoil very little of the upcoming movie, so please go read it if you want more Kaguya Love Is War.

Also there are so many unfired chekov gun in early third years that really doesn't add anything to plot

I understand disappointment that you want get the scenes you were expecting. But have you considered that, if this same writer did something you really enjoyed already, that when offered the chance to write an unexplored version, it will also be good? Not necessarily better. But also not necessarily worse. Where is the trust in this artist that you apparently enjoy?
The same is of course true of anime. Promised Neverland S2 is awful, *and* it is anime original. It's not awful *because* it's anime original.
Comics fans do not complain about movies being "based on" famous stories without replicating it. We're very well used to it by now, thank you. Civil War, Infinity War, Thor Ragnarok, and Wandavision, and others. These all adapt very well regarded storylines without even attempting to be beat for beat recreations, and wouldn't you know it- since they're good, people like them! How lucky are we that we get TWO great versions of a story! That's awesome!
Similarly with anime. K-On, Usagi Drop, Trigun, Bokurano, NHK ni Youkoso, FMA 03, Yu Yu Hakusho, Violet Evergarden. All made changes, and all are well regarded- sometimes *because* of those changes.
Just let something stand on its own merit. It is not inherently a sin to divert from the source. Let the artists create art.
the ova itself also rocked if you don't know anything about the arcs that were skipped regardless.
the mangaka wanted it like that

also no one says this but (why didn't the team just say no and make S4?) he would just go to a new studio that would do it
They likely also could've thought it would be more risky to need to adapt another 3 full seasons with some of the later parts less positively received, so also from a business standpoint for them.
* People also need to recall that most romance series (that's aren't short) don't even get full anime adaptations. Many stop at confession. So they could have just stopped at S3 or the movie. At least there is more to see past that.
Anime itself makes fuckall money, most animes are made to promote the original manga, which in this case has already concluded
With original series with no manga to base them on, the IP holder has full creative and commercial control on how to monetize it
Tldr
manga adaptations -> manga is the product
Anime original -> anime is the product
The manga’s second half definitely has a lot of strong material left, but adapting it properly would require long-term planning and commitment rather than one-off projects. My guess is that these episodes are more about keeping the IP visible and gauging interest than skipping the rest entirely.
If anything, the positive reception might actually help its chances down the line. I’d rather wait longer for a well-planned season than see the remaining arcs rushed or unevenly adapted.
