I just got done finishing DN I gotta say after L died I became extremely bored to say the least. When his successors initially were introduced I assumed we be getting a duo, trying to match Lights intelligence, but I just ended up being annoyed to listen to these kids squabble. Seeing Mello have support from the underworld including missles being able to hijack a plane with little action from the government to his actions just felt so out of place for a character who was just introduced. As an immature kid who had an infeior complex. While Near had the support of the government which feels somewhat more reasonable, considering L also had support from the government. Personally the gacha moments with near became uninteresting because of the lack of personal he had at his disposal. For example the guy broke into a bank without nobody noticing. Another managed to gain access to the new voice of God. The other just sat near Near providing no help except during the escape. L on the hand, showed he only needed Watari who was just as exceptional as L. I guess in short I believe the anime could have been cut in half, or extended to have L finally prove it was Light. I had high hopes going into the anime and was at first thourghlly entertained but by the second half I was about to drop it. I have many other complaints but I'll just leave it at that as this was the most frustrating part to me. All in all id say it was 7.5
