One Piece or Naruto?
Well, I have watched around 12 to 13 animes yet including some famous titles like Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayers, etc. Now, it's time to become a real anime fan, suggest me, which one of the following should I go with first? Naruto, or One Piece? And kindly give a brief reason too defining why should I go with it.

Watch naruto, read one piece if you can. Although there's alot of fillers in naruto so you gotta have to keep that in mind
But honestly they're both pretty different and different people will prefer one or the other. One Piece is more focused on building a huge living world with a lot of moving parts, Naruto is more about throwing a series of villains at the main cast.
But I guess I shouldn't be too harsh, since canonically the story only lasted like two months and a 2 year time skip.
If you want to get the best experience, watch the Naruto Ocean Cut. It's improved the pacing of the show a lot!
If you want to start with One Piece, you should go with One Pace. It also improved the pacing a lot!
There are only 2 good filler arcs and they are also in the Ocean Cut as specials:
- Naruto: Shippūden Episodes 144-151
- Naruto: Shippuden Episodes 349-361
Filler in One Piece are the worst, because you can't skip them. They just repeat a scene multiple times in an episode and show the animation again and again so they are not adapting the story faster than the manga. One Pace is the only way to enjoy it. There is a reason, why One Piece is now a seasonal anime.
You can watch 30 other amazing shows in the time it will take to watch Naruto.
One piece is even longer
Watching them doesn’t make you a “ real anime fan”
Naruto is finished in its own. While I personally did not like the ending the ride along is still great to follow. Also you might have a different opinion. It has a lot of memorable moments and characters and a great soundtrack. It has a more typical approach shonen power ups. Best to look up which episodes are filler arcs to skip.
One Piece is one of my favorite stories ever. It starts with more single adventures but quickly turns into a story that spreads across its whole world. The world is unique and intriguing.
This one is still ongoing and due to the anime being released weekly up until the end of 2025 the pacing of the anime gets rough in the second halve because they could not catch up to the manga. So it's better as a manga. But there is "One pace" as a fan project that fixes this issue.
It's one of the most sold book series in general by this point and you don't get that level by being bad.
Note however that the fan service increases to unpleasant levels in the second halve, it's worse in the anime.
If I had to pick I would always go for One Piece. I believe it will go down as one of the best stories ever created.
I grew up with both and you will get through Naruto much quicker and won’t be as bored in the middle.
Save one piece for after because it’s a much longer journey.
Watching one piece feels like a drag at times and I guarantee you won’t finish it, but you might actually finish Naruto
One Piece has a better overall story and more likeable characters but has a habit of dragging on in some arcs.
I prefer Naruto because the world seems more believable and you can feel the growth of the MC through other characters.
But really both Animes are massively popular because they are great to watch, so you can't go wrong with either.
You're really missing out. Anime is more than just battles.
