KANA-BOON - Silhouette (New Go-Line ver.) (Naruto Shippuden OP 16) / THE FIRST TAKE
KANA-BOON are relaunching with two new members, and this version features guest singers who come on at the end to support them. Very cool version of the song.
Yep, the previous one left after he got an underground idol pregnant and she got an abortion that he wasn't going to pay for until she threatened to sue him. They also had to replace their lead guitar player for misbehavioural reasons. The singer is now the only original member remaining, and the only one who performed on the song when it was first recorded that is still in the group.

Also worth noting:
- Their previous bass player left the band due to severe mental health struggles so these two getting into dipshit behavior meant the label canning them was a very each choice.
- The two new members were previously just live support but things been going well enough thar they got upgraded to full members ahead of their nationwide tour of all 47 prefectures of Japan.

Man that's great it worked out for them. I don't know the members but the lead singer seem like a good dude on screen (his mess up on TFT with the girl from Necry Talkie was fun.
Seeing her come back as a guest singer with all those other (sorry I don't know them) was such a nice surprise.

The new members seem very wholesome.

Ok I did not expect that wild backstory

Holy crap.
The drummer looked like a complete innocent little dude...... Damn.

This song haunts my nightmares. Was overplayed ad nauseum after it came out, and a bunch of "if thing had an anime OP" videos used this song in particular, so it's basically the posterboy for generic anime OP. Made even worse that it's not even close to being one of the best Naruto OPs.

Sorry you had the song ruined for you, I'm just into Japanese music and wasn't aware this was an anime OP till a few months ago.

It was an opening of Naruto and is probably the most famous anime opening of the 2010s(it's atleast top3 id say)

This was a lot of fun! Always nice to hear a new spin on a classic.

I'm so happy that things are looking up against for the band.
Hopefully the long overdue world tour will come soon 👀

I hope so too. I did get to see Silhouette performed live, but that was by FLOW on their official Naruto themed tour.

Its definitely a new take on an old song and while I do hope to be proven wrong in the future, play the original First Take of Silhouette a couple of years ago immediately after this. The difference is very very obvious and jarring.
Still I wish them all the best and am looking forward to seeing what else they come up with

The original had the bassist from Asian Kung Fu Generation. I liked this version but the mix on the voice was worse. Having the singer of necry talkie in the end was a nice touch.

Silhouette has been many things: an anime anthem, a meme, a viral TikTok trend and much more.
And now, it's a song about KANA-BOON's story and history.

I was wondering why I've been hearing it a lot lately

That's probably more cus it got popular on social media. There was a dance to the song that was all the rage for a hot moment.
