Need help finding an anime my friend watched a while ago

I know a few details, it was definitely made before 2020. My best guess is that it’s like between 2000 to early 2010’s but I don’t actually know. It’s relatively short. The art style was definitely like anime anime, not realistic looking. It was about a main character who’s a dude and like he didn’t have any powers and there’s objects that give powers, and he fights with a bunch of girls or something and they bring him weapons for him to like try and bond with?? There’s one part where he puts on a girls necklace and there’s a part where he puts on some glasses and they like let him X-ray see under all their clothes and throws the glasses off real quick 😭. Apparently they fight some giant executioner type dude. Also near the end apparently a lot of the girls end up dying or something?? like idrk guys please help 🙏🏻. Alot of this could be wrong so don’t completely disqualify some animes if they don’t fit. But I know for a fact there’s objects that he can bond with and they do some type of powers and there was definitely a xray glasses scene lmao

This sounds like Highschool dxd at first lol (unless it is), but is it magical girl raising project?

He said it might’ve been Highschool DxD. I think ima look up scenes from it

Maybe Needless?

I don't remember any necklace part but the main character starts off powerless and IIRC there's something embedded in his forehead that lets him copy powers. And there's a lot of female characters that end up dying. I read the manga though, never watched the anime.

Akame Ga Kill

It wasn't glasses but an imperial arms that enabled seeing through clothes.

He said that it was definitely this. Thanks so much

Akame Ga Kill fit exactly your description, main character need to find his weapon, use temporarily the one called 'spectator' which make him see girls in underwear through their clothes. Do you remember if he finally link to a short sword named Incursio?
