What I think some people also miss is that the original Japanese can also include a lot of slang. Years ago, someone live translated some anime for me and he said translating the young girl slang was often harder than translating the regional dialects. While I'm a fan of literal translations, I don't necessarily fault translators for using slang when it reflects the tone of the original Japanese.

You asked us if we think dubs use more slang or not, but the next question immediately tells us it uses more slang and then asks us why we think it does. This therefore invalidates the response to the first of these 2 questions.
