I know, but the thing is I like romance because both male and female characters get the spotlight. Other genres just have overpowered males or overpowered females taking the lead. It doesn't feel as natural as an equal male and female dynamic to me (in regards to straight romance).

Ruroni Kenshin actually has a solid element of romance. The 90’s particularly (Trust and Betrayal) but the reboot is more faithful and less filler, with a slow burn and healthy developing romance. Next season is coming out this year and manga is complete. I was surprised; it’s actually one of my favorites now.

Not at all I never watch those I hate them lol also it’s shoujo which rarely has harem or reverse harem so it makes zero sense why it was tagged that way. Trust me each character has their own love story with one person and those who platonic to each other are good friends or see each other as family. I highly recommend it’s very healing anime.

Yeah its annoying shoujo get the reverse harem label just because they have one girl and multiple males. Yeah the hot guys are there to appeal to girls, but in most shoujo they don't all throw themselves at the MC like typical shonen harems.

In Fruits Basket its can seem like a love triangle at the start, but really each character has just one love interest like you said. The series just has a large cast of hot guys, but also quite a few equally attractive girls.

In my opinion season 2 is where it gets drastically better because of the art (studio) change and increased drama. This isn't your basic generic romance. There's real conflict, disagreement, difference of thought, all of which culminates into drama and romance.

Not really? Not in the traditional sense, at any rate. Nazuna is every bit as mentally immature as Kou. She just uses her vampire immortality as a smokescreen to pretend differently.

There's always going to be some logistics issues with supernatural romance in that vein, otherwise. But this isn't an adult dating a youth situation.

The point is that there's no imbalance of power dynamic at all. If it weren't for the fact that Nazuna is chronologically older than she appears, then there'd be no moral issue at all. The story is, for all intents and purposes, two young teenagers navigating their first love. For that matter, Kou is the one who initiates, anyways.

There's absolutely zero "grooming" at all.

You're objecting to one of the most wholesome romances in recent manga history over some perceived issue that doesn't exist.

Kou and Nazuna are *functionally* peers. She's a biologically-stunted perma-teenager, and that's all the series wants you to treat it as. It's not some shady Mushoku Tensei situation where she's mentally a 40-something pretending to live as a teenager. She's just a teenager who's perpetually stayed a teenager after being turned.

It's not just as simple as "immature" but that's actually part of the plot mechanics. I thought it was a little strange and was a little weirded out, but the show gives a reasonable explanation as it reveals history that makes it less creepy.

Oh my God, you’re missing my two favorite romances off a very large list.

CLANNAD is a drama-comedy that excels in both departments. The romance is amazing, with two very fun leads that I had a lot of fun watching their personalities work together. You said no “sad ending,” and while CLANNAD is very dramatic, it’s not a downer, and it builds up to some amazing catharsis.

The Dangers In My Heart is my favorite active manga, and the recent anime adaptation was amazingly well-received, sweeping the top anime polls during Season 2. A lot of people are turned off by the first few minutes because it deals with an edgy young teen, but it’s a story about emotional growth and leaving behind your cringe side. I call it a “masterwork in show, don’t tell” because it has tons of “blink and you’ll miss it” moments that make the narrative feel more packed than it actually is. It’s also a very straightforward romance. Every episode is about the main couple and their interactions. The story constantly moves forward and doesn’t let the conventional problems of the genre slow things down.

That is defineteky more than most of people know here, but a lot of "classics" is still missing. Also, a bunch of titles in the list I do not concider romance. So (JP titles as English ones I sometimes do not even remember):

**Clannad**, **Kanon**, **Air**, iconic KyoAni/Key trilogy. Threre are also alt versions made by Toei but they are inferior (I watched both still).

**White Album**, **White Album 2**, same setting and theme, diffeeent everything ekse, peopke preder either obe or another

**Da Capo**, the first rwo adaptation are pretty nice, though, only the first one gas ronantic redolution, Da Capo II is more if a drama.

But I presume you would concider these titles harens/triangles despite the forner habing clear main girl girl.

**Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu**, **Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora**, short (6 eps each) and geavy on drama.

**True Tears**, **Nagi no Asu Kara**, P.A.Works classsics, but both are love polygons.

**ef**, both seasons. Technicalky has a triangke in seadon 1 but both girls got boyfriends in the end.

**Kimi ga Nozomu Eien** (I hate the locakized title here), **Natsuyuki Rendezvous**. A love triangles sort of but goid ones.

**Mysrlf;Yourself**, this one is bit odd case, but I liked it.

**Suzuka**, yeah, another triangle and from a guy who loves fucked up romantic staff, but this is his leadt fucjed up adaptation.

**H2O**, don't rwmemver if it had any haremy staff but it is pretty underrated show owerall

**Asatte no Houkou**

**Kono Sekai a Utsukushii**

**Hourou Musuko** if you do not mind a trans MC.

**KimiKiss**, **Amagami SS**, , thr first one technixalky gas two love triangles, th second one does not count as,a harem because it is,an omnibus of alternative "what if" routes.

If you do not mind girls love staff:

**Strawberry Panic**, technically akso has two love triangkes but it has definete ending fir both.

**Yami to Boshi to Hon no Tabibito** if you wabt sonrthing more odd.

Start watching "Tamon's B-Side", the first episode has just come out! It's based on a damn good romcom manga (best ongoing shoujo series in my opinion) and judging by the first episode it's going to be a pretty good adaptation too, which is a pleasant surprise for shoujosei lol
