Reze sweeps this entire thing and it isn't even close. All the other big hitters from other insanely popular shows that aired like yor from SpyxFamily or tatsumaki from OPM have been left out so I just don't see anyone getting close.

Will Iana win? Of course not, she's the MC of a poorly drawn villainess isekai with a forehead the sizeof Nebraska. Should she win? Also no, it wasnt actually a great show. Do I want her to win? Yes, because I want her to suffer and to remind me my own world-building wasnt nearly as horny as hers.

This would be one of those times. I'm on Iana's side for most matchups (definitely vs. Scarlet or Reze) and would need to think it over depending on which *Mangaka* or *WataTabe* girls she's facing.

Oh for sure, I treat the "Best Girl" and "Favorite Anime" polls as strictly opinion based, but I just dont think *Dark History* had enough watchers to see Iana through the brackets. In the same way Marie 2 might be the Best Girl of *Mechanical Marie*, but not enough people saw it through to see her through

Absolutely, it was directed by https://myanimelist.net/people/6153/Hiroaki_Sakurai , who crafted the masterpiece that is *The Demon Girl Next Door*. There were definitely some very deliberate, Kamikatsu style choices made to match things to what the middle school character designer aesthetic would be and how they would be described (and thus animated). There's a fun bit towards the end of the season where they slide the character cut outs around for an action scene (unimportant, obviously) and then lavish some glamor slow-mo much in-betweening work on Iana's reaction to it (critical in the author's eyes lol).

Gotta say this has to be one of the weakest lineups I can remember, but that also mainly has to do with me having dropped like 10-20 more shows this season than like every other recent season.

Reze is #1 and Scarlet is #2 and I would be very surprised if anyone will upset these two. There really aren't any other girls from big sequels and I don't think any other girl from a new show really stood out. As for the rest of the top 8, I honestly have no idea. Maybe a girl or two from Watatabe and Gnosia, maybe Lufas from Last Boss, Shiori from Sanda, maybe there are enough people who continued watching Towa no Yuugure to vote for Yuugure and Amoru.

Personally I also enjoyed watching Kris from Grieving Souls, Nazuna from lv9999 Gacha and Alma, but I don't think they'll be seeded all that high

We've had other super weak ones in the past couple years (the one won by Angel Next Door, say), but yeah it's kinda weak...

But Reze's strong as hell so it'll be a steamroll.

Makes me a bit sad we won't know how she would've fared against real competition.

(Then again I suppose we'll see a bit of that in best girl of the year!)
