Genuine question. Is there any anime where you can watch season 3 without the other 2?
Klinicalyill2026-01-02 20:34
I am confident there is probably an anime or two where seasons are pretty self-contained but I cannot think of any off the top of my head.
Edit: thought of one. Shows along the lines of Cells at Work, where each episode is its own self-contained story would allow you to watch a second season without having seen the first.

Pokémon.
Durinthal2026-01-02 20:36
Star Wars Visions comes to mind but that's an anthology series not a serial story.
saphire2332026-01-02 20:37
Technically Jojo, but you lose a lot of context
RyaReisender2026-01-02 21:36
Actually Record of Ragnarok would probably be an anime you could just start at Season 3 without losing much since the plot doesn't really matter and once an enemy was defeated you can stop caring about their backstory anyway.
But there's plenty other anime you can start watching at any time. I called them "episodic anime". Detective Conan would be an example, you can start at any episode other than "Part 2" episodes.
The question is why would you want to do this, unless older episodes are not available in your country.
marioquartz2026-01-02 21:46
LOL NO. With Detective Conan. Not all. There are a main plot. I have to jump from 200-something to 400-something and to 700-something and I was lost. New characters, others than was mentioned but now interact, ect.
RyaReisender2026-01-02 22:08
There is very VERY little main plot in Detective Conan and it doesn't really change anything. After Ai joins early on, the main cast never changes.
My mother occassionally watches an episode here and there or even just the movies without any episodes from the series and she never had trouble following the case.

Because each Conan movie gives a summary at the start. You can even start Attack on Titan from season 2 if someone gives you a summary of what happens in season 1. But I wouldn't call season 1 is skippable.

Dragon Ball Z
GirthQuake50402026-01-02 20:31
Stupid question
Ok_Professor29742026-01-02 20:34
I've seen loads of anime slandered for "looking like a PPT". In all honesty none of them even get close to the way of the house husband so I never really understood what they were on about. My advice it to just watch the previous seasons as the animation is really not that bad and it adds to the story.
temojikato2026-01-02 20:34
No, lol. What a weird thing to ask - as in, weird the info online led you to that question. You're in the wrong spaces :p
Pretend-Swordfish2772026-01-02 20:45
The reason i see that he asked that is because the fights are separated one with the other.. even by that, I also wouldn't skip any season
poetande2026-01-02 20:34
Look, it's up to you, you can understand the story.
Durinthal2026-01-02 20:35
Question for you in return: why *wouldn't* you want to watch the first two seasons?
Toothlees_cat2026-01-02 20:38
You can bc the story doesn't have an important plot, but 'why?' each fight is unique and entertaining, and I personally enjoyed more S2 and it's not that bad
Fuzzy_Bluejay39802026-01-19 20:19
Can I skip Season 1?
Toothlees_cat2026-01-19 20:36
If you want. IDK, watch S2 and S3 and then decide. The only importance of the chronological order is the tension of whether humanity has a chance or not.
Ponczo1232026-01-02 20:40
Just read the Manga because the art is glorious then decide if you want to continue with manga or follow Anime. I loved first 4 fight but fight 5-7 felt very repetitive and shounen like so I dropped it. My friend who also enjoyed the Manga dropped it because of the same reason
Pretend-Swordfish2772026-01-02 20:43
I mean.. you could but you'd have to Watch an introduction and a recap just to have some context. On Netflix ep. 1 S3 is a full recap of the rest so you can use that one.
Anyways I don't really suggest skipping the first two seasons because I personally think that the third one is the worst one..
Lotusfeaster2026-01-02 20:44
Yes you can the story is nonsense and barely even there, most people me included only watch it for the fights, hoping for some action without too much CGI Fiesta.
If you only watch S3 u'll have less fights to watch and won't understand who all of these chars are but the ones that fight usually get their backstory shown mid fight so there's that.
-NaughtyNora2026-01-02 21:01
You can, but you’ll be missing a lot of context since it’s one long tournament and the hype builds off earlier fights. The animation does get better, but it’s still hit or miss depending on the episode.
LatinaMom322026-01-02 21:24
I'd say to watch it just for Aphrodite haha. I heard she makes a couple of appearances in the new season.
Botronic_Reddit2026-01-02 22:52
As someone who watched through Season 1 and 2 to get to Season 3, the animation isn’t that bad. Far from OPM Season 3.
I would say at minimum you have to watch the first 4 episodes to know the general plot and setup before skipping ahead.
BasicallyaFilipino2026-01-03 13:49
Episode 1 of season 3 is a recap of all the previous fights, but I recommend you watch the previous seasons in its entirety (yes even season 1). The animation improves in season 2 and season 3 is even better.
